Cozy Craftsman/Mission style apartment for a maximum of 2 guests in an Italianate 1870's home in the historic North Downtown neighborhood. Our quiet, residential neighborhood is only a 5-minute, 3-block walk to the pedestrian downtown mall with its restaurants, music halls, and night life as well as the free trolley that will take you to the University of Virginia grounds, graduation and sporting events in no time without having to worry about parking! It is a convenient walk from both train and bus stations. The apartment has a separate entrance and driveway parking. We have many guests attending wedding events in the downtown, university, and vineyard areas.
The website Walk Score calls our home a "Walker's Paradise" with a score of 97 for its downtown location and access to transit. It's also a perfect place for day trips to the nearby countryside's historic sites, wineries, and breweries, followed by an evening of downtown restaurants and music.
This guest suite provides a unique sleeping pod bedroom (comfy queen bed), living room with wi-fi, HDTV, digital cable with HBO, Showtime, and sports channels, your own private bathroom with fresh towels, slate floor, claw-foot bath tub and separate shower. The ground floor bedroom window provides natural light but is secured for the protection of our guests. There is a window air conditioner in the adjacent living room and I provide an extra space heater in winter months to supplement the Swedish radiators. The bathroom is up two steps from the living and sleeping areas. We provide a hairdryer, shampoo, soap, iron and ironing board. Furnishings include Stickley-era settle and chair and vintage 1960's Finnish pottery.
Also provided are a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, French press, and electric tea kettle; there is no full kitchen so guests enjoy the many wonderful restaurants nearby for dining. See (website hidden) on Cville as a foodie town. Our guest suite is not suitable for cooking or cleaning up after "real meals" but is equipped for guests who enjoy the convenience of "snacks" at home or a simple breakfast. Complementary Bodo's bagels or breakfast breads and cream cheese for the first morning and locally roasted, fresh coffee and teas for self-brewing will make sure you start your day on the right foot. All glass, plastic, metal, and paper products that we provide or that guests leave behind are recycled.
We provide our guests a high degree of privacy and often provide self check-in and self check-out for the convenience of our guests. Still, we are just a text, voice or email message away to take care of any questions or unanticipated needs.
Guests have complete privacy; there are no shared facilities. Host will only enter the apartment if there is a problem, for maintenance or upon request.
Our policy is to respect our guests' privacy but are available upon request. Many of our guests are UVA grads or repeat visitors to Charlottesville who know their way around and have busy schedules. Minimal interaction unless a guest requests otherwise.
This is the historic residential section of old Charlottesville. It is friendly but quiet, and we love the ability to walk downtown so easily.
Yes, city buses and free trolley are accessible on nearby streets. The house is walkable from both the Amtrak and Greyhound stations. Parking is onsite. Visitors arriving by plane generally rent a car or book a taxi.

My boyfriend and I had a great experience here! The directions to the house and check-in instructions were very clear. It was a cozy, comfortable place to stay and a nice alternative to staying in a hotel. The location is great too, as we were able to walk to the mall rather than drive and pay for parking every time. Thanks so much!

We had a great weekend at this home. It was a beautiful apartment and our hosts left us with some breakfast items and coffee! It was a very quick walk down to the Downtown Mall. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend getaway for the two of us. Would absolutely recommend!
This was my first time in Charlottesville and the location was perfect. We walked to the downtown "mall" and great restaurants. We appreciated the privacy given to us by the host. All in all I highly recommend this place
The location was perfect for us. We could walk to the downtown "mall" and great restaurants. We loved the bathtub!! Also we appreciated the privacy given us by the hosts. All in all I highly recommend this spot.
Michael's place was wonderful. Great communication prior to my last minute visit. The apartment was so warm and comforting, especially on one of the coldest weeks this year! Traveling a lot for work I like to change it up from the typical hotel stay and I couldn't ask for a such a great place to stay as my home away from home.
I really enjoyed staying here. A private space in a beautiful historic home in my favorite part of Cville (north downtown). The bed and couch were super comfy, and the hosts are extremely thoughtful - the tea/coffee and bagel set-up is a really nice touch. Also appreciate them checking in on me mid-week and providing fresh towels. The private entrance was great as well as I was out early and in late. I enjoyed indulging in the extravagant TV/couch set-up a bit as well...
My wife and I got away to charlottesville / Monticello for our anniversary. We had never done anything like airbnb. This place was amazing. Close to everything, clean, comfortable and private. Way better than a hotel.
We loved staying in this adorable apartment! It was clean, tidy, full of charm, and in such an ideal location. Twice we walked over to the downtown mall. It was lovely to see that Genevieve had left us fresh bagels for breakfast and the supplies to make delicious french press coffee. Perfection! We also loved the living room--we were in town for a wedding and it was really nice to be able to invite a few people over and comfortably hang out. You wouldn't want to do that in a hotel room! Can't recommend this spot enough.
5 stars for charm (tastefully decorated historic home), convenience (a few minutes walk from downtown Charlottesville), and privacy (self-check in/out, private entrance)! We highly recommend this place!
