About this listing
We are nestled on the side of Kilauea Volcano and located near Volcano National Park and the Pu'u O'o Vent, from which the lava is currently flowing. Our property is in the Rainforest on 3 acres full of indigenous Ohia trees, fern trees and many other native plants. The Cottage is a two bedroom, one bath house with full kitchen, dining room and living room. There is an attached and fully equipt Yoga Studio for guests to use. We work with our environment, living close to the land by living off the grid and incorporating solar power and generator power, gardening, and permaculture. Public transportation, The Hale On Bus, drops and picks up at the top of our subdivision and travels around the Island. We are excited to have you as our guest and extend a warm Aloha to you during your stay on the magical Island of Hawaii. Wifi Available!
Magic place where we spent 2 peaceful nights. Great environment just few minutes from the smoking caldera. Rachelle was not in but Michelle has been extremely gentle and a perfect guest. We suggest this place to all that love nature and just natural sounds
Great base for exploring Volcano National Park - we can't believe people spend just a few hours driving past when there are so many amazing hikes and cool things to see here. Rachelle and her family have a lovely house in the rain forest, complete with a hammock on the deck. Visitors should be sure to read and understand the implications of being 'off the grid' - but we had no problems charging our cameras and phones before heading out for another hike.
First of all: It is very important that you get Rachelles directions, otherwise you won't be able to find Rachelles house. Unfortunately the location on the map is not accurate (without Rachelles directions we ended up in Volcano Village which is about 10miles away).
We liked our stay there, it's somehow in the middle of the jungle but still very nice. The room is clean and we got everything we needed. Using the kitchen was not problem at all. In the morning we got some freshly done pancakes, which were very good.
To sum everything up: If the location would be the one on the map it would be a perfect place to stay. What means that the house and its surrounding is very nice but a little disadvantage is that you have to drive about 10miles more to end up in the national park.
Wonderfully remote setting! Nestled into 3 acres of the rainforest and near the active Pu'u O'o Crater. Best to navigate in daylight hours. Rachelle gives superb directions and is a great communicator. Enjoyed meeting her, son Ryder and friend Michelle. Very welcoming and friendly. Facility is clean, comfortable and roomy. About 20 minutes to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park to see the lava display at Halemaʻumaʻu Crater. Amazing! Great stay - highly recommended!
Rachelle is very nice and warm person and we felt very welcome. Her place is lovely and near Volcano Park. Thank you Rachelle
Rachelle was super warm & welcoming! The room and house is comfortable with a great shower. The surroundings are secluded and lush. Thank you!
