When the arrival date is two weeks away we contact our guests to arrange their arrival. We greet them… do a walk through and give them the key. We really enjoy meeting them.
Our neighborhood is old school California Beach…. everyone knows each other. It's a friendly, relaxed vibe. Less than 4 short blocks away you will be in our village. We have a Gastro Pub, Sushi Bar, Coffee House, Italian restaurant, and a fish and chips place…. also a very popular yogurt shop. Our Beach is 1 block from the house and very private. The bike path is right out the front door and can take you to the pier, one mile, and once there to a fabulous seafood restaurant and a taco shack. If you walk off the pier and go straight for 2 blocks you will be in the center of our downtown.
If you wanted to you would be able to park your car in the driveway and not get in it again until your departure date. You can walk or ride a bike to just about any thing you may need. Restaurants are 3 short blocks away. The grocery store is 1/2 mile from us. We have a Trolley that runs Wednesday thru Sunday…. it's free and will take you from down the street to the Harbor and to the Downtown. And our downtown, which is less that 2 miles away has everything from great restaurants to several pubs, boutiques, movie theater, museum, the mission and our Rubicon Theater which is well known for the Plays that are preformed there. The Harbor offers up restaurants, excursions over to the Channel Islands, fishing, a Carousel and Arcade, and a museum which houses a "hands on" tide pool exhibit.
No smoking. No Pets. No events. Our home is a 6 person maximum occupancy. Once a deposit has been made we will send a rental agreement that details the house rules. We will ask that you read it and sign and return it to us. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
Three of my dearest friends and I from across the country were looking for a beach house for our first ever writing retreat. We were looking for a quiet and comfortable place, close to the beach. What we received was far GREATER than we expected! Kathleen has a lovely home with all the amenities you could hope for. Fantastic gourmet kitchen with French press, large pots and pans, and lovely serving platters. The back porch--where I spent a majority of my time--was a wonderful writing oasis! The porch is fenced in, which makes for great privacy. There is a also a little fireplace where we would sit and chat in the evenings.
At least twice a day, we made our way one block over to the beach. It is not too crowded--even with a Surfer Rodeo happening during our weekend--and clean. We always left the beach refreshed and ready to tackle our writing. It really is a little beach neighborhood with great restaurants. We ate at a sushi place, which has a great lunch special and had a special dinner at Spasso, an Italian restaurant with hand-made pasta and fresh fish. We were within walking distance from a grocery story and Starbucks, but seldom left to explore because we were enjoying the house too much!
I definitely recommend this house--it is stunning! Even after a travelling mishap, Kathleen was gracious and considerate. She provided a fantastic binder of information that helped us enjoy everything the house has to offer. If ever I have the chance to go back to California, I will definitely request this house on Airbnb!
We had a truly wonderful stay in this beautiful home. There is everything you need to feel completely comfortable: amazing beds and linens, spacious bathrooms - with skylights!, super-well equipped kitchen, and oh-so-cozy sofas by the fireplace... We did not take advantage of the outdoor space very much because it was a bit chilly when we were there, even though it looked lovely and inviting too. The beach is just a short walk from the house, and there are plenty of yummy dining options a couple blocks away.
Everything was really quiet at night, which was important to us because we came with our 8-month-old baby who is a very light sleeper.
Kathleen was such a thoughtful host! We had great communication by email prior to our stay, and it was lovely to meet her and her husband when we arrived. You can tell Kathleen really wants to make sure you will have the best experience possible while in Ventura. She even let us borrow a high chair for our baby!
We couldn't have been happier with our decision to stay in this house - it really did feel like a "home away from home".
Wow Flo !!!! Thank you so much for such a wonderful review. And you are right…. we do try to all that it takes to make our guests have a memorable vacation in our home. Our goal is to surpass our renter's expectations!
You and your family were wonderful guests that I would recommend to anyone. You treated our home with TLC and we hope that you will return.
Everything at this house was GREAT! Beautiful, close to the beach, fully stocked and super comfortable everything. We all had a great time. The hosts and their family members who help manage are flexible and kind. Enjoy!
We totally enjoyed our week stay. The Beach House was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped with televisions, computer, videos, games, and beach equipment.
We were greeted by Kathleen who was courteous and welcoming. She showed us around and answered any questions we had.
Throughout the week we often utilized the large, well equipped kitchen and the back patio area with a fryer and area to sit and enjoy an evening fire with discussions and marshmallows.
After being away from our home for over two weeks the washer and dryer were a welcome sight.
The Beach House is easily accessible to Highway 101 and located a block from the beach. It is located in a quiet residential area with walking paths and the beach available for walks and/or running.
Kathleen thought of many small details to make us feel welcomed to her home. She also supplied area brochures and restaurant menus. Kathleen also provided us with a handwritten list of restaurants to meet our special dietary needs.
We would totally recommend the Beach House to our friends or any individuals interested in the facility.

About the Host, Kathleen
Thank you for your intrest in our home. My husband Tom is a retired LA City Fireman. And I am a professional artist. We have been married almost 44 years and have 5 grown children and 10 grandchildren. Most of our kids live in Ventura and several are in education. Our dream was to own a home at the beach and we were lucky enough to find this house. We have lived here since 1996 and remodled just 6 years ago. We designed our home to be open, airy and comfortable.
Hopefully this gives you a feel for us. Let us know if you have more questions. .
We look forward to having you and your family enjoy our home.
