An attractive, ultra-romantic Bed&Breakfast semi-cottage is waiting for you in our restored 1930s-era vacation home in celebrated Healdsburg We consider our B&B not as an “alternative to pricy downtown lodgings” but as a destination in itself for those who want to take full advantage of the delights of the Healdsburg-area Wine Country while at the same time luxuriating in the peacefulness of a secluded corner of northern Sonoma County and enjoying its recreational opportunities. Not least, it is the IDEAL place to celebrate that special occasion or birthday!
At Heaven in the Oaks, you can relax in your own private, quiet patio (you may hear one car passing every half-hour). You can take a walk or jog through the oaks and redwoods; the path starts right outside your front door. You can swim/kayak in the Russian River (5 minutes below your patio)… yet you are just a quick 3.1-mile, 8-minute (honest!) drive to Healdsburg’s historic, colorful Plaza, shops, restaurants, & tasting rooms.
We have only one guest room--and it really is almost a separate, private cottage (200 sq.ft room + bathroom & 200 sq.ft. patio). Our objective is to give you an ultra-enjoyable stay, right from the moment you check in. And we’re “on-site hosts”--ready to give you whatever you need. When you arrive, you will be greeted with a glass of wine (do you like red or white?) and an array of tasty snacks--or, in cooler months, a mug of hot soup, if you like.
You might want to head into downtown Healdsburg for a great meal in one of our many prized restaurants (just ask for our personal list), or just lounge about on your private patio: we supply you with everything you need for a “take-in meal.”
You will enjoy:
A cozy, light-filled sitting room-bedroom with
• gorgeous, spacious armoire • beautiful furniture & carpet • writing table and comfortable chairs • queen-size bed • private patio • two windows overlooking a wooded creek & canyon (where you may see our deer “family” placidly grazing just a few feet below your window) • electric fireplace • ceiling fan & air-conditioner • other amenities, including mini-fridge, microwave oven, coffee-maker, DVD player + DVDs, total picnic needs, iron & board, robes & slippers, & free, secure Wi-fi internet.
Totally private, connecting bathroom with tub & shower
Reserved parking spot right in front & private front entrance
French doors opening onto a walled, flower-filled private patio, with privacy gate, for dining and relaxing, as well as a radiant gas heater for al fresco breakfasts on chilly mornings. And oh, the starry sky above (moon permitting)!
A truly gourmet breakfast brought to you.
We are actually the ONLY TRUE B&B in the Healdsburg area, since we are the only B&B that serves you a bounteous, home-made breakfast, with a lengthy menu of delicious choices, delivered to your door at the time you request (crack of dawn or sleep in). Enjoy morning-fresh eggs from Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda, and Carrie. Our guests love our unique offerings! As one guest wrote: "I didn’t have to get dressed to go out or to a common dining room. I stayed in my room, no make-up, hair in a mess and in my pj's! They brought me what I wanted, when I wanted it, hot and fresh to my door.” Another said that she felt she was a princess being pampered. Even if you’re not a princess, we want you to feel special.
No, we are not “just a place to stay in Healdsburg.”
What we offer makes Heaven on the Oaks a true destination in itself!
And we love guests who are looking for just such a place!

“… The accommodations were thoughtfully and artistically designed, with every amenity… “
“… We also wanted to go for wine tasting and guess what? They had everything to plan your wine tasting places in the valley. Maps, lists and a lot of complimentary wine tasting passes…”

Ours is a quiet rural road nestled in beautiful oaks, redwoods, California bay, and buckeye trees near the bottom of Fitch Mountain. It was a popular riverside vacation area in the 1920s and 1930s for families from the San Francisco area; many of the houses are (like ours, 2,000 sq.ft.) converted and enlarged summer homes. Fitch Mountain is known for its interesting local history, eclectic building styles, beautiful views, secluded neighborhoods, and friendly spirit.
Step out your door, and a five-minute walk below our B&B is the Russian River, where you can launch your canoe/kayak, or just picnic (we’ll give you a “picnic pack” with everything you’ll need) and watch everyone float by. We can email you complete information on kayaking/canoeing opportunities and rental services.
Or head up our road: it quickly becomes a popular walking and biking path right in the midst of the forest, while a path in the opposite direction takes you on an easy ascent to the top of Fitch Mountain (all 911 feet of it!), currently being developed as a nature preserve. This is paradise for walkers, hikers, joggers, and cyclists. Nearby, and stretching to the coast, are a host of city, county, and state parks of every size and description. We can email you complete information on popular walking trails--including a fascinating one to the Healdsburg Ridge Park, which you can access from your room. And we can send you full information.
We can also send you a list of local bicycle rental shops and what they each offer. Just ask.
Healdsburg is a destination--rated #2 in the Smithsonian Magazine's "Top 20 Towns to Visit in 2014" & #1 in CitiesJournal’s April 2014 “Top 15 Small Cities in California,” with its famous Plaza--voted among the 10 best in the U.S.-and world-class shopping, restaurants, and winery tasting rooms.
Wine-tasting is just minutes away. You might start with a few of Healdsburg’s 30 tasting-rooms right downtown, or just head for the wineries themselves. Among the winery-filled areas, in 8 to 30 minutes you will be at famous wineries in Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley, Chalk Hill, and Sonoma Valley. We are truly in the heart of the Sonoma County Wine Country! In your room you’ll find full information, plus maps and free tasting passes to over 30 wineries. Kathryn owned her own winery, and Dave worked 30 years in the Napa-Sonoma wine industry (he now works in the Italian wine industry), and we will be happy to share our knowledge with you. We can email you our own winery visit recommendations, organized into 10 “admittedly-subjective” categories!
And more. Healdsburg and nearby towns boast rich programs of year-round wine events (every month!); jazz and musical events; art galleries and shows; famous running and cycling competitions (e.g., Amgen race and Grand Fondo, and the Fitch Mountain foot race); river races and festivals; craft beer shows (Sonoma County has 20 craft brewers), Farmers Market (Saturday mornings, 9-12; Wednesdays, 4-6pm, May-Nov); and a multitude of farms that supply the best restaurants in Northern California. Healdsburg’s public golf course is 5 minutes down the road. We will provide you with lots of maps & tourism materials.
We are an hour and a half from San Francisco airport (bus service to Healdsburg) and 15 minutes from the Santa Rosa airport.
We look forward to hosting you!
Kathryn and Dave Henderson

Kathryn and Dave were very welcoming. Upon arriving, we were served a glass of wine and snacks. One of the perks of the room was the beautiful scenery. Fitch Mountain Road offers a scenic spot for runners and walkers alike. Many birds, including a hummingbird, greeted us in the mornings on the patio. A new edition is a heater on the patio above the table. Still being chilly in March, and in the mountains, the heater came in handy. We used it while enjoying Kathryn's delicious breakfasts (don't miss her bread!) and at night, while finishing a newly acquired bottle of dinner wine. Kathryn and Dave gave us a list of their favorite restaurants and a list of wineries we might want to visit based on our areas of interests. A cozy room, this place was definitely a slice of heaven.
Kathryn and Dave are such lovely people. They sent us helpful information about nearby vineyards and restaurants before we arrived, and were happy to provide recommendations and anything else we needed. The room and patio were beautifully decorated and cozy and the breakfast was outstanding (and Kathryn was so kind to be sensitive to my dietary restrictions). We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.
We had a wonderful stay at Dave and Kathryn's guest room. Upon arrival they were very warm and welcoming, supplying us with helpful maps of downtown and the surrounding region. The room itself appears to share a wall with the main house, but they were very discrete. I never heard the hosts at all once we were there. We came back from a hike and like magic red wine and welcome snacks had been stealthily delivered to the patio table. Breakfast was really great. The persimmon bread and breakfast burrito tasted amazing. Location wise you need a car to get in and out of the Fitch mountain area, and it is about a scenic 10 minute drive to the downtown plaza. Highly recommended.
Erin thank you for the positive review. Appreciate it We do however state on our website that our B&B is a "semi-cottage" and that "it really
is almost a separate, private cottage." There is, indeed, a common wall, but
we don't have to be "discreet"--your room is very much "walled-off" from us!
You cannot hear us, we cannot hear you.
And, yes, we tell you that you need a car (or bike!) to get into
Healdsburg, but it's just an 8-minute ride(Luckily we have taxi's and Uber)
We would like emphasize that we give you the fullest possible information on
the AirBnB website about our B&B, and that every word is literally true. No
surprises. Come stay with us and you'll see!
Charming hosts and setting made for a memorable experience. Dave and Kathryn were full of enthusiasm and friendliness, generous providers yet utterly nonintrusive. The cottage we stayed in had a marvelous fairy tale quality, full of beauty and small touches for visitors from imaginative hosts.
Accommodations felt luxurious (though typically on SF region's small scale), a delight for the senses. It was as if we were in a gingerbread house in the woods. Thanks to hosts, a wealth of local info in binders, coupons, annotated listings.
We especially enjoyed red wine and treats upon arrival, beautifully presented by a tray in the garden room just outside our place. And breakfast was lovely as a tea party with beautiful china, excellent coffee, delicious food.
We'd love to stay here again in the future. Thank you, Kathryn and Dave!
Ah , we were waiting for this review! We so appreciated your feed back about Heaven in the Oaks, even before you had a chance to leave (we wished you had stayed longer). We try to make it as special as we can for our guests, and we are always trying to improve. Thank you for noticing the small touches.
Kathryn and Dave
Dave and Kathryn were excellent hosts, definitely raised the bar for hospitality, kindness and thoughtfulness. They made us a great breakfast, and then pointed us to the vineyards with a fistful of free tasting passes. Good work and hope to return!
We had a wonderful stay with Kathryn and Dave. They were warm and welcoming on our arrival. We appreciated the tips and maps about their favs in the area. The afternoon snacks were a nice touch. We had a nice hike they recommended right from the front door. I wish we could have stayed longer.
We had a fantastic stay at Heaven In The Oaks! We enjoyed yummy breakfasts on the balcony and took a great hike from right out of the front door. The area is quiet and beautiful and we will certainly be back.
Kathryn is a working artist/teacher and works in various mediums including painting, drawing, mosaics and sculpture. She also loves to entertain and cook as you will find out when you partake in her home-cooked breakfasts.
Dave has a long history in the California and Italian wine industries, and teaches Italian at a local college. He loves Kathryn's food.
Both she and Dave love the mountain and the wonderful hiking & river activities, along with the town of Healdsburg and all that it offers.
