Enjoy a stay in your attractive, ultra-romantic Bed&Breakfast “cottage” in our restored 1930s-era vacation home. We consider our B&B a “destination in itself” for those who want to take full advantage of the delights of the Healdsburg-area Wine Country while at the same time luxuriating in the peacefulness of a secluded corner of northern Sonoma County and enjoying its recreational opportunities. Not least, it is the IDEAL place to celebrate that special anniversary or birthday!
At Heaven in the Oaks, you can relax in your own private, quiet patio (you may hear one car passing every half-hour). You can take a walk or jog through the oaks and redwoods; the path starts right outside your front door. You can swim/kayak in the Russian River (5 minutes below your patio), yet you are just a quick 7-minute (honest!) drive to Healdsburg’s historic, colorful Plaza (voted among the 10 best in the U.S.) with its world-class shopping, restaurants, and 30 winery tasting rooms.
(Are you planning to come to the Healdsburg area “off-season,”
November through March? Then see farther down.)
You will enjoy:
● A cozy, light-filled sitting room-bedroom with
• gorgeous, spacious armoire • luxurious carpet and beautiful furniture • writing table and comfortable chairs • queen-size bed • French doors opening onto private patio • two windows overlooking a wooded creek & canyon (where you may see our deer “family” placidly grazing just a few feet below your window) • electric fireplace • and other amenities, including, mini-fridge, coffee-maker, & Wi-Fi internet. (No air-conditioning needed: in the trees on the mountain, we’re cooler than elsewhere, but the room has a very efficient ceiling fan, too.)
● Totally private, connecting bathroom with tub & shower
● Parking spot right in front
● Private front entrance
● French doors opening onto a walled, flower-filled private patio for dining and relaxing. And oh, the starry sky above (moon permitting)!
● A truly gourmet breakfast brought to you.
We are actually the ONLY TRUE B&B in the Healdsburg area, since we are the only B&B that serves you a bounteous, home-made breakfast, with a lengthy menu of delicious choices, delivered to your door at the time you request (crack of dawn or sleep in). Our guests JUST LOVE this unique offering! Why go elsewhere, where you have to bring in your breakfast supplies, or go out to a café? As a guest wrote: "I didn’t have to get dressed to go out or to a common dining room. I stayed in my room, no make-up, hair in a mess and in my pj's! They brought me what I wanted, when I wanted it, hot and fresh to my door.”
No, we are not “just a place to stay in Healdsburg.”
What we offer makes Heaven on the Oaks a true destination in itself!
And we love guests who are looking for just such a place!
We have only one guest room, so our objective is to give you an ultra-enjoyable stay, right from the moment you check in. When you arrive, you will be greeted with a carafe of wine (do you like red or white?) and an array of tasty local snacks.
You might want to head into downtown Healdsburg for excellent shopping and a great meal in one of our many prized restaurants (just ask for our personal list) or just lounge about on your private patio.
The next morning, roll out of bed and enjoy, whenever you want it, a sumptuous breakfast with selections you have made from an array of delicious choices, including juices, fresh fruit bowl, bagels, granola, oatmeal, eggs any which way, huge breakfast burrito--as one guest put it, I felt I was a princess being pampered. Even if you’re not a princess, we want you to feel pampered.
• single or couple only • single-night stays OK
• PLEASE, no children, pets, or smoking
Ours is a quiet rural road nestled in beautiful oaks, redwoods, California bay, and buckeye trees near the bottom of Fitch Mountain. It was a riverside-vacation area in the 1920s and 1930s for families from the San Francisco area; many of the houses are (like ours, 2,000 sq.ft.) converted and enlarged summer homes. Fitch Mountain is known for its interesting local history, eclectic building styles, beautiful views, secluded neighborhoods, and friendly spirit.
Step out your door, and a five-minute walk below our B&B is the Russian River, where you can launch your canoe/kayak, or just picnic (we’ll give you a “picnic pack” with everything you’ll need) and watch everyone float by. We can email you complete information on kayaking/canoeing opportunities and rental services.
Or head up our road: it becomes a popular walking and biking path right in the midst of the forest, while a path in the opposite direction takes you on an easy ascent to the top of Fitch Mountain (all 911 feet of it!), currently being developed as a nature preserve. This is paradise for walkers, hikers, joggers, and cyclists! Nearby, and stretching to the coast, are a host of city, county, and state parks of every size and description. We can email you complete information on popular walking trails--including a fascinating one to the Healdsburg Ridge Park, which you can access from your room. And we can send you full information.
We can also send you a list of local bicycle rental shops and what they each offer. Just ask.
Wine-tasting is just minutes away. You might start with Healdsburg’s winery tasting-rooms right downtown, or just head for the wineries themselves. Among the winery-filled areas, in 8 to 30 minutes you will be at famous wineries in Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley, Chalk Hill, and Sonoma Valley. We are truly in the heart of the Sonoma County Wine Country! We give you full information, plus maps and free tasting passes to over 30 wineries! Kathryn owned her own winery, and Dave worked 30 years in the Napa-Sonoma wine industry (he now works in the Italian wine industry), and we will be happy to share our knowledge with you. We can email you our own winery visit recommendations, organized into 10 “admittedly-subjective” categories!
And more. Healdsburg and nearby towns boast rich programs of year-round wine events (every month!); jazz and musical events; art galleries and shows; famous running and cycling competitions (e.g., Amgen race and Grand Fondo, and the Fitch Mountain foot race); river races and festivals; craft beer shows, Farmers Market (Saturday mornings, 9-12; Wednesdays, 4-6pm, May-Nov); and a multitude of farms that supply the best restaurants in California. And Healdsburg’s public golf course is 5 minutes down the road. We will provide you with lots of maps tourism materials!
We are an hour and a half from San Francisco airport (bus service to Healdsburg) and 15 minutes from the Santa Rosa airport.
We look forward to hosting you!
Kathryn and Dave Henderson
OFF-SEASON: Well, there’s some drop-off in events locally, of course, but every month, Nov. though March, is filled with activities and opportunities around here--this is a “year-round paradise”! (check out (website hidden)
And winery tasting rooms are definitely open and un-crowded--you may even have the place to yourself. Wow!
We have fine weather most of each month; it doesn’t rain long, and it never gets really cold; most days are sunny and comfortable (yes, even in January and February!). Cycling, kayaking, running--folks here practice them “off-season” as well.
Our B&B is warm and cozy no matter what the weather, so come any month, whatever your plans are, and you’ll enjoy Heaven in the Oaks!
Lovely place, very quiet on the mountain. Breakfast was great, who still does that? Very small and no T-V but it worked for us.
This is a special place, close to the town of Healdsburg, but nestled in a lovely wooded area next to the river. Leave yourself enough time to enjoy the beauty which is this place and the surrounding walks.. The ambiance is the same, inside and out. Cozy, peaceful, clean and welcoming. Attention to detail is everywhere from the decor, the robes, the great bath and bed. The first-class breakfast and the delicious coffee. The chance to let go and unwind. Quiet and lovely. We will see you again.
Very accommodating. Kathryn and Dave have this down to a science. Great location, food was excellent, great local advice and complimentary tasting cards.
We'd definitely come back!
Lovely spot and great host and hostess. Cozy, friendly and accommodating!! Great breakfasts too!!!
My friend and I had a great stay! Dave and Kathryn were fantastic hosts! They have a beautiful home and our stay couldn't have been more stress-free and wonderful. Definitely recommend!
Beautiful house, great food, gracious hosts. All around a great experience. Kathryn's muffins are amazing!
An excellent cozy place tucked into the hills above the Russian river. Secluded yet close to town. The art and the thematic mosaics and mirrors were delightful and whimsical. I would recommend staying with Dave and Kathryn.
Wow, what an amazing stay! I'm not sure I've ever experienced hospitality like this before. Kathryn and Dave are extremely thoughtful and take care of your every need.
The room is very nice, they really have thought of everything. The location is tucked away on a side of a mountain with really no noise at all.
The highlights of the stay were the breakfasts. We stayed for two nights and they take the term "Bed and Breakfast" to a whole new level. They have a sheet where you can choose from all these options of what you'd like to eat and they prepare it for you at the time you specify. They bring it out on this large tray and it's just packed with delicious stuff.
All in all, we absolutely loved our stay there and would recommend it to anyone who is wanting some R&R. The Healdsburg Square is just a short drive where there's amazing restaurants and shopping. On a side note, if you haven't been to Scopa, make sure you do, and make reservations with plenty of time.
Thank you so much Kathryn and Dave for an amazing experience. We hope to be back.
Wonderful room with private, mosaic pattern patio and entrance on a quiet, hillside location. Beautifully decorated room and large en suite bathroom. Kathryn and Dave were welcoming and strived to make us comfortable and provide local information. Her custom breakfast in the morning was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommend a stay here.
Kathryn and Dave's lovely place is wonderful! We were greeted so warmly with hugs and with wine and cheese when we arrived. This set the tone for such a great stay. Upon being guided to the separate entry to our room by Kathryn, we were shown the amenities. The room is very comfortable and exquisitely decorated and furnished. The bathroom is also roomy and equally decorated. The shower-bath had a removable shower body sprayer - which is always nice. Kathryn provided printed instructions and walking maps for the surroundings (greatly appreciated). They also had a big tray of coupons for 2 for 1 wine tastings. We were given daily menus for breakfasts that we filled out. Dietary needs were thoughtfully accommodated. The choices were delicious- breakfast burritos, eggs Benedict, homemade oatmeal and granola - also AMAZING fresh grapefruit from their trees. Excellent pot of coffee. We appreciated Kathryn's care and detailed attention to the little things that made our stay so terrific. Also of note, is the beautiful surroundings and foliage visible outside the windows of the room. There's more, but one should experience this bnb to fully appreciate.
Thank you Kathryn and Dave.
Couple of notes - distance to Healdsburg town about 10 min away. Our favorite wineries in town were Roadhouse, Rosenblum and definitely do the wine and food pairings at Williamson Wines tasting room.
