Hi Folks! Welcome to the “Osmyn Parker House”!
I have lovingly restored this large old 1887 Queen Anne and it has been featured in numerous newspaper articles as well as being the center piece for several annual Historic Denver house tours. Being the sole resident of this grand old house, only 9 blocks from the center of the city, I love sharing it with interesting travelers!!!
This beautiful home lies in the the heart of the San Rafael Historic district, one of Denver's greatest historic neighborhoods close to downtown, City Park, 17th Avenue Restaurant Row and so much more. Relax outside on our beautiful and peaceful back patio or jump on a bike (the Denver B-Cycle station is only two blocks away!) and tour around Denver. You are welcome to use the kitchen, living and dining as well.
While things are very "walkable", there is also a bus stop just across the street or a cab ride to the convention center (center of downtown) is only $6-8 in inclement weather.
Since we are opening up our home and our lives to you we would greatly appreciate it if you would make sure that your profile is filled out before you submit a request.
Our stay with Jim was wonderful! The house itself was incredible, and he went out of his way to make us feel at home. We loved that we were able to walk down the street to pick up vegan food, and then enjoy it in the backyard. We would definitely stay with Jim again.
Jim was a wonderful host. He is very thoughtful and wants you to have the most pleasant stay at his place.
The room, the house, and the neighborhood in general were even more beautiful in person. The room and house were super clean and spacious, and nicely decorated to make you feel at home.
It was such a pleasure to stay at James’ restored mansion in Denver! We booked a two-day stay and he was very accommodating. When my fiancée arrived, she knew exactly how to get there, where our bedroom and shared bathroom were, and that we were to make ourselves feel at home. The home is on a tree-lined street in the heart of Denver, close to the Zoo and Natural Science Museum (one of the best!) and downtown. It is beautifully restored with gorgeous woodwork throughout. Parking is easy to find, usually right in front of the house. Our bed was comfy, clean and came with plenty of blankets/pillows. There is even a chaise lounge in the room for extra seating.
Jim provides a great brochure about the area with many suggestions on places to eat and see. I loved Snooze, a great place to have one of their special Eggs Benedict offerings. We wish we had more time to talk to Jim because he is definitely an interesting guy! My father is traveling cross-country this fall and I will make sure he stops in Denver!
Jim was a wonderful host for the weekend. He had a full house of guests, but everyone was quiet and very respectful of each other. The neighborhood is very safe, though it is close to a hospital, so we heard lots of ambulances the first night. The layout of the house is: entrance, office, living room (with lots of philosophy books), kitchen, dining room, half bath on the first floor. The Master and two guest rooms are on the second floor. The two guest rooms share a bath. Jim even bought a new coffee maker for coffee drinkers. The house is very convenient to downtown and various parks and we had no problem getting to where we wanted. One complaint would be the water noise from first turning on the upstairs bathroom faucets, but that's also the charm of an old house. Having lived in an old house before, I noticed that the floors didn't even squeaked when we walked on them. Jim must have done lots of work on this house to make it so comfortable. Thanks for everything, Jim!
I could not have experienced a more gracious and hospitable host. I look forward to my next visit.
A beautiful home as well.
The Wiseman house was an awesome place to stay.
Jim and I had wonderful discussions. He is a great host! His home is amazing! I don't think I could have found a better place to stay while we were in Denver. We stayed a week for a conference my wife attended, and we'll definitely stay here for any future conferences in this general vicinity.
James is a fantastic host, with a beautiful home. His graciousness, good will, and when we had a chance surprisingly engaging conversation made the stay like visiting with an old friend. James restored this home himself (a craftsman job!). The bed was comfortable. I will stay again, and am looking forward to it. FYI - bicycle rental stalls are everywhere w/in a short walk. Note that once you sign up, there is an app with real-time availability & directions - fantastic!
I stayed 3 nights with Jim, and the room was great. Amazing restored house is a great place to land. Jim is personable and interesting, but will give you your space. Lots of good tips on food and getting around He even picked me up from the train station!
What a great place and a great host. I walked to the Convention Center each day I was there, and it only took about 25 minutes through some nice neighborhoods. Jim made me feel like I was home, and we got to share a good conversation before I left town. Highly recommended if you want a nice place close to everything.
Jim is a great host and he has one rule--" Make yourself at home" We enjoyed our stay and the conversations we shared.
