About This Listing
Locaton, location! Come and share the ambiance in this beautifully restored 1887 Queen Anne. This National Landmark home is only 9 blocks from Downtown. Close to everything, very walkable and perfect for a new Denver visiter.
Hi Folks! Welcome to the “Osmyn Parker House”!
I have lovingly restored this large old 1887 Queen Anne and it has been featured in numerous newspaper articles as well as being the center piece for several annual Historic Denver house tours. Being the sole resident of this grand old house, only 9 blocks from the center of the city, I love sharing it with interesting travelers!!!
This beautiful home lies in the the heart of the San Rafael Historic district, one of Denver's greatest historic neighborhoods close to downtown, City Park, 17th Avenue Restaurant Row and so much more. Relax outside on our beautiful and peaceful back patio or jump on a bike (the Denver B-Cycle station is only two blocks away!) and tour around Denver. You are welcome to use the kitchen, living and dining as well.
While things are very "walkable", there is also a bus stop just across the street or a cab ride to the convention center (center of downtown) is only $6-8 in inclement weather.
Since we are opening up our home and our lives to you we would greatly appreciate it if you would make sure that your profile is filled out before you submit a request.
This is a NO SMOKING home.
Share this beautiful home with me ... the dining room, living room, kitchen and peaceful backyard is yours to use. This is a very social household, so don't be surprised to find friends or neighbors in the back yard to join for a glass of wine. Please feel free to come and go as you please. I am very sociable but do not expect that you must be. Ask as many questions as you like, join for a glass of wine or be as private as you wish. You will have a bath across the hall that is shared with a single room if it is occupied by a guest. I am not a Bed and Breakfast and although there will surely be tea and coffee on hand, please expect to take care of yourself for all of your meals. Also, since I am opening up my home and and life to you I would greatly appreciate it if you would make sure that your profile is filled out before you submit a request.
I can't imagine a better Airbnb experience than I had with Jim. He is a friendly, open and thoughtful host, with deep roots in the neighborhood, and plenty of interesting stories to tell. The home is a beautifully restored Victorian in an interesting neighborhood full of such homes, thanks in no small part to his restoration and preservation work. The house is about a 10 minute walk to the edge of downtown, with plenty of dining options nearby. I travel back to Denver frequently, and hope to be able to stay with Jim again soon.
Gorgeous house - check! Very clean - check! Friendly and welcoming host - check! Plenty of hot water and big thirsty towels - check! Great location close to bus stops, grocery store and restaurants - check! What's not to like? We were very pleased with our stay here and we'd come back again for sure.
What a wonderful time my family had at the B&B! Beautiful and charming, yet cozy and homey. We will use again when my in laws visit. Jim was so professional and so nice! Great location to downtown and restaurants as well. Quiet place to relax:)
Jim is a special host - helpful, warm, welcoming, gracious, conscientious, and a delightful conversationalist. I had a very busy schedule this trip, but I look forward to staying at his lovely home on lush grounds again and spending more time talking to him, as my husband did. The home is beautiful - Jim's quite a craftsman and decorator; see his pictures. We share a love for Victorian homes and furnishings. Our room included a comfortable queen bed, spacious closets, shelves, and drawer space. The claw-foot tub includes a shower with very good water pressure, which is important to me as I have long, thick hair. (We shared the bathroom, with no problems at all, with a young professional woman who rented the single across the hall.) There are more than enough linens, toiletries, and supplies. (Also there are no pets or smoking, in case you have those sensitivities.) Jim provided a list of suggested places to dine and visit. For our short trip we managed to go to two of them, were very happy with his recommendations, and look forward to exploring the others in the future. You'll be very comfortable and well cared for in Jim's home, very close to Downtown, City Park, the Zoo, the Museum of Nature & Science, shopping and more. Unless we get there first. (wink)
I had a wonderful time staying with Jim. We had great conversations and his recommendations for local dinning led me to a few fabulous meals. I had a nice ~30 walk to the convention center each day and on the way back I would stop by the safeway (only a block away) to pick up something to make for dinner. The room was clean, and beautiful furnished. I hope to be back and say again!
An amazingly beautiful house in a great neighbourhood with an even better host! We were made to feel very at home during our stay and everything was thought of to ensure we had a comfortable stay! The house is within easy walking distance of restaurants, downtown and the Coors Field.
The neighborhood was pretty good.
The place was overall good and stylish except that
The curtains are translucent.
The Sound absorption in the house is not so good.
There are no door latches either in the bedroom or in the shared bathroom.
This does bring a smile! :)
For what this young international grad student and his girlfriend had in mind, I can understand completely why he wanted more sound insulation, black out curtains and locks on the doors! :) :0 But with the level of noise being generated in the middle of the night with loud closing of doors and other "activity", pretty difficult to remedy! :) It seemed apparent they enjoyed themselves, in any case! :)

About the Host, James
Hi folks, I am an early adopter of "airbnb". I have not used it for travel as much as I would like but have been hosting and enjoying it since summer, 2011. My active life style includes being a ski instructor in Vail, tennis, sailing when I make the time, motorcycle travel (having done of lot of solo stuff in Mexico), etc. Intellectually curious and I like keeping up with global happenings. Travel style? Casual, low maintenance and self sufficient, enjoy the local color, been half way around the planet. Have owned my own company for over three decades being involved in urban redevelopment and historic restoration. Cheers!
