  • I absolutely LOVE Ursulas and Gemmas flat. Best location in the bohemic and old area of Born, very close to everything - but also quiet and private. Once you have climbed all the stairs (no elevator) you come in to this old apartment with two french balconies, both bedroms have one, and its airy and spacious and funny. Good and well functioning bathroom, small but good kitchen with everything needed in it. Both bedrooms very nice and I have to say with best beds of all my airbnb-beds :) and a comfy sofa in the livingroom. I love the mixof bohemic and elegance. A bit shabby in the way really old and beautiful apartments can be, but very clean and everything that has to work is in good standard, like bathroom and kitchen.
They are also very helpful and give you there special guide with things to do.
    This is a keeper!

  • Gemmas and Úrsulas flat is basic and not super fancy (as you can see on the pictures) but it is low-priced, centrally located and has everything you’ll need for your stay in Barcelona!

    The awesome stuff:
    - Gemma and Úrsula are friendly and easy-going and communicating with them was really easy.
    - The location! You step out of the door and are directly on Carrer de la Princesa, where you’ll find all kinds of cool shops, a bakery, small supermarkets, restaurants and just everything you’ll need. And walking to Jaume Metro Station just takes a few minutes.
    - Considering that you are in a big city, the flat is rather quiet, almost no traffic noise to be heard.
    - The beds are really comfortable! We didn’t use the couch for sleeping, but I suppose you can have a good night’s rest on it as well.
    - The kitchen has everything you need, I guess. We didn’t cook in there, but there’s salt, sugar, coffee, some basic spices for cooking, cutlery and dishes, an oven, a big fridge with a freezer…at least for us nothing was missing!
    - Good Wi-Fi connection
    - We were affected by the huge Lufthansa strike that took place at the beginning of April; therefore we had to change flights four days prior to our arrival and arrived a day later than originally planned and booked. Gemma and Úrsula were as kind as to changing the booking, so we didn’t have to pay for the night that we were not staying, without us asking about it. Thanks again!

The not so super awesome stuff:
    - We didn’t like the bathroom too much; it’s small and has no window. The shower was small, the curtain was coming of the wall and hanging low and the wall holder of the shower head was broken - the water though was hot in an instant and the pressure strong enough, so it will do if you just stay for a couple of nights. Also, it was clean (for my standards anyway, don’t know about your grandmother ;))
    - There was some sort of smell in the kitchen (like from a sink, but I think it came from behind the cupboards); the kitchen wasn’t super clean - clean enough for me though..
    - There was no possibility to store our luggage after check-out on the day of departure

All in all, if you are used to travelling on a budget this flat will be just fine for you; if you are usually staying in fancy hotels though you’ll probably won’t be too happy…but I guess in this case you’ll not choose to stay here in the first place anyway. The flat met our expectations and was just like we imagined it to be from looking at the information provided on the website. I’d probably stay here again. Thank you Gemma and Ursula! :)

  • I stayed here with a friend in March, and we had a great time! The appartment is huge and has a lot of natural daylight. It is very quiet, no noise coming from neighbours or surrounding streets. The 2 bedrooms are bigger than the pictures show and very comfortable, and each has a tiny balcony. There were 2 heaters available to us, but we did not need them. But we did appreciate the extra blankets for the beds - thank you Gemma! The kitchen is small and very functional. It has coffee, tea, sugar, oils and other essentials, which is great. The bathroom is nice and the shower has great waterpressure. The livingroom is cozy with a dinnertable and a very comfy sofa, where it is nice to relax after a long day out in the town. Gemma and Ursula are great hosts! They were very quick to answer any questions, before we booked the apartment. Before arrival they sent us some usefull info of the area, which was great for us, since we were traveling on a budget. And on arrival, they had bought us fresh milk, juice and bottled water - what a great way to make you feel welcome! My friend decided to stay for another 3 nights, and since there were no prior bookings, Gemma and Ursula gave her a good offer, which she gladly accepted. I will highly recommend this place and would love to come back.

  • We enjoyed a lot our stay at Gemma & Ursula's flat. It s basic but has a lot of charme, and all what you need. It s a nice area of Barcelona to stay. And, it was just very easy to communicate with Gemma and Ursula. Very good recommendations of best tapas places around the corner :-) Also, the gas went out and they arranged very quickly a new one, it was amazing. Definitely recommend this place and would stay there again! Thanks Gemma and Ursula!

  • The appartement was great, big, with all the equipment we needed. The neighbourhood is the one we most liked in Barcelona!

  • Pros:
It is quite central in the El Born area, and can walk to La Ramblas area in 15 mins. There are some nice restaurants in the area, and a metro station less than 5 minutes away. Good location.
Gemma & Ursula are really nice, and great at maintaining communication. They even sent over a little booklet of suggestions and their favourite spots that they prepared, and helped us plan our NYE.

    Cons:
The apartment is a little older and could use some maintenance, and it wasn't the floor wasn't the cleanest. After walking barefeet in the apartment, and hopping into the shower, you can notice that your feet are a bit black. The shower is slow to drain, so you can't take a shower immediately after someone in case it overflows.

The second bedroom's mattress is a bit soft and noisy and caves into the middle, so we'd both roll towards the middle sometimes during the middle of the night. If you have back issues - take the first bedroom.

Overall, I think you pay for what you get. It is well priced in a good location, but the apartment isn't very updated.

  • We had a great stay in this place. Ursula was very nice (we didn' t see Gemma). She is very welcoming and flexible. Before the stay, both ladies were nice in responding all the various questions we have and very helpfull to solve any problem. Once in Barcelona, they are always availables if you have questions.

The place is very well located in Barcelona. There are lots of shops, restaurants and very nice little streets all over the area.

The apartment is comfortable and completed for 4 but in winter, it is a little cold (in spite of 2 electric heatings) because as it is located in an old building (that's it all the charm of the area also!), windows are little isolated. The kitchen and the bathroom are quite old. The equipment of the kitchen wasn't very clean and just sufficient for 4. However, the price is really cheap so we can say the apartment answers perfectly the demand.

The hosts had left all that it was necessary to have breakfast. We really thank Gemma and Ursula for their welcome and their kindness.
