Martijn was a terrific host. Before we arrived he sent us some great information about the area and easy instructions to get to the apartment from the station. The apartment was clean, bright, spacious and really well located. We could walk to everything and really loved our stay in Amsterdam. Martijn was happy for us to have a late checkout and kept in contact during our stay to make sure we were happy.
Thanks Martijn for welcoming us to your home.
Like so many, we didn't get to meet Martijn, our host, but he was in contact with us before, and throughout our stay in Amsterdam. He was helpful with transportation, and suggestions. He even provided a welcome letter for us with personalized touches to make our stay thorough and enjoyable. He left us a bottle of wine! The apartment is bigger than it looks, and is very comfortable, with incredible light. The kitchen is well stocked with basic provisions, and while there is a small convection oven, the range top works very well. The area is in real Amsterdam, with convenient access to Centraal by bus, tram or walking (25 minutes walk), but the area is extremely safe and quiet, with supermarkets and restaurants near. Anne Frank House is quite close by walk, and to be expected, there is a canal, within a minute. We even found an unbelievable antique market minutes away. The pub three doors down, L'Affisch, is a real gem...a neighbourhood bar with local colour and beautiful people. Definitely have a drink there or end your night there. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying at Martijn's place, and enjoying one of the best cities in Europe.
Martijn's apartment was super cozy and he was a great host. He even met at the apartment at 3am after a delayed flight!
Martijn was a guest very nice and reliable, communication has been fast and effective. the apartment is not luxurious but has all the facilities to spend a holiday or a period to work in Amsterdam. Easily accessible from the airport or station, the apartment is very quiet and peaceful. Also it is very close to a supermarket and 10 minutes walk from the city center.
Absolutely perfect place! Martijn is a great host, very kind, he offered me even to help myself with the food in his fridge, his coffee etc.
Unfortunately I got sick with a flu and had to stay in bed, so I could not explore much of the neighbourhood. However, I can restly assure everyone that it is a very quiet apartment, day and night time... :)
Neighbourhood is great, supermarkets close by, the corner bar is perfect, bus station at Elandsgracht few mins away with direct bus to airport.
Hope to stay again there next time!
Martijn was a very friendly, accommodating host, particularly in allowing us a very early check in. The apartment was exactly as described, great location just outside the canals. It had great wifi and an awesome stereo. We would be happy to stay here again.
