Interaction with Guests
We have property hosts, Hannah and Tomas, located just down the street. They will welcome you and answer any questions but give you complete privacy.
El Castillo is an authentic Tico village. The horses and cattle will pass your door each day. The locals are very friendly and will happily stop and chat. There are a couple of small groceries in the village and several restaurants, but walk up the mountain road a bit and you will be in the jungle with spectacular views in all directions.
There is no transit in the village. You will need to rent a 4x4 for travel in Costa Rica unless you are visiting resorts. All the best and most beautiful places are well off the beaten path. Driving is safe and convenient and well worth it.
No smoking allowed inside the house. $200 damage deposit is refunded at the end of your stay assuming everything is in order. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended as the roads are steep and rough.
This house was AMAZING! It is located at the top of the hill and overlooks the town, lake, and volcano. We ended up leaving the airport around 7:30pm and made our way to the house. I only recommend if you are up for adventure! The last 10km were on a pretty rough road but it's all about the adventure and 4x4 vehicle. The house was well stocked and spectacular. We walked to town for groceries and stopped by Hannah and Thomas's shop, super cute. Thomas was also helpful and arranged a driver to take us to the free hot springs and back. I would definitely stay at this house again!
Our host, Thomas and hanna were amazing and very helpful with all of our needs. The house was better than the pictures can describe, there you have the best view of the volcano and the lake. the neighborhood was incredible and we enjoyed walking down to the little stores to buy supplies and talking to the people in town. We were completely satisfied with our stay.
Great house! Beautiful enclosed patio upstairs with a wonderful view. The house is a bit out of the way so I definitely recommend a car with 4WD.
Everything was perfect in El castillo en las nuebes. You really feel like being in a castle in the clouds. The view and the house are even better than in the pictures. Contact with Joe was always clear and friendly! Thank you for sharing your beautiful place.
John, thank you so much! The view from your house is really incredible on the lake and all the hills around. We loved the decoration of your house and the Equipment was very nice. We feeled like on top of the world as the house is the last one on the very top of the village, we loved the authenticity of El Castillo, we met only kind people and we have had a lot of fun in this amaizing area. We woke up with horses in the field near the house! The gardens are really even nicer than the pictures as all the flowers and trees growned a lot!
And Tomas was so kind and so helpfull, it was a pleasure to meet him and his wife. Little hint: Tomas is doing some home made bread really delicious (and I'm french! I know what I'm talking about!!!).
The area is for sure amaizing, with our 2 children (6 and 8 years old) we especially appreciated the Eco Zoo (with a super guide!), the walk on the bridges and the hot springs!
Thank you John and I hope one day we will be able to come back again!
Las Nubes was a dream come true for our anniversary trip! From the view to the private location to the beautiful house to the amazing people in El Castillo...this house was perfect!
We hiked the Children's Eternal Rain Forest, ATV'd out of La Fortuna, Ziplined with Sky Adventures, rappelled down waterfalls with Pure Trek, visited an animal rescue called Proyecto Asis and rode horses through a contact of Tomas. It was an adventure of a lifetime...
Our visit to Costa Rica was one we plan on repeating, and we'll be back at John's house.
Fantastic location and the master bedroom has a super comfortable bed. We were extremely pleased with our choice! The views were better than Arenal Observatory!! Thanks for a great first AirBnB experience.
