Beautiful house and spectacular view! Thanks Chantal we had a great time!!
Magical! This place is so amazing Chantal is so sweet. It's clean and has everything you need in the kitchen. Came up for a long weekend with my family and got engaged! Beyond perfect can't wait to come back.
The host was there upon our arrival to greet us and run through the house at that time. However, there was no guest/users manual which would have been very helpful, especially, when it came to the internet, wireless passwords, etc.
The setting is beautiful, but the house is lacking in a number of ways. First and foremost, only one and a half bathrooms for up to 10 guests. We were four women and it was definitely not enough. Amenities were insufficient, e.g., very old bath towels (and a shortage of them), no hand towels or washcloths, only two tea towels for the kitchen, the pillows and bed linens were of low quality and shabby. The lack of insulation manifested in limited privacy because you could hear everyone else's conversation and movements in the house.
I had no idea there were problems like this. You should have told me you needed more towels or anything else. This is an old house in the mountain, where the Titanic was shot because of it's charm. Many shows shoot in this house because of it's unique character. The number of bathrooms was listed and we always use high thread count sheets. We are always happy to give more towels or assist with any questions you might have. The wireless password is written on the modem. Perhaps you would have been happier in a hotel instead of this unique Artist House where the views are spectacular and there is plenty of room for 10 people. This is a house for cozy people that don't mind being aware of each other in the house. Thank you for staying with us anyway.
Six of my friends and I stayed at the Artist House for two nights. The Artist House was a nice rustic home with a nice view. It had all the amenities described. The washer/dryer is a little hidden. It is outside in a shed near the kitchen window. The outdoor shower was very nice to use on a hot summer day. The extra bathroom is really just a toilet in a closet.
Our host, Chantal, was a very good host. She responded to all my questions very quickly. Also, she allowed us to extend our checkout which was very helpful.
Chantal was lovely, very responsive before we arrived, and helpful when we were staying at the house.
I stayed with my family (7 people) in Chantal's Artist House and the house was so beautiful and the views were so spectacular. I never wanted to leave this house. I could live here forever. It is so peaceful and relaxing. I loved all the sounds of nature surrounding the house up on the mountain. The hummingbirds in the birdbath outside my room and the houses neighing and the cows mooing down in the canyon….. so lovely!! We grilled dinner and ate in the big backyard overlooking the canyon and the clouds that ran into the ocean on the horizon… you can even see the Channel Islands from your chaise lounge! I took a shower in their exotic out door shower and as I was washing my hair, birds were flying around and I felt like a Disney princess! As you shower you over look the whole mountain and the mountain breeze dries you off.
Chantal was a fantastic host, everything you need is in the house from cooking utensils and tools, linens, towels, even a blender, etc.
The house is very far away from anything and is quote a drive, but it is a well worth drive. Definitely do your grocery way ahead of time, and plan what you need for sure because you do not want to drive back down the mountain.
All the pottery around the backyard and in the house is beautiful and was made by the Gillberg family. Chantal lives next door to this beautiful historical home and she is a lovely person.
I would love to go back to the Artist House soon!
Chantal was a very pleasant host and the Artist House is a beautiful location. The outdoor patio area overlooks the canyon and was a great place to relax in the evenings. Everything was wonderful and we would love to stay there again next time we visit Malibu.
