Astoria is a lively, safe neighborhood filled with people from all over the world. In fact National Geographic featured Astoria for its diversity in " THE HUMAN FAMILY TREE".
You can expect a safe and secure stay in this conveniently located apartment. The apartment really reflects the neighborhood as one of NYC's hidden gems.
The neighborhood consists of transplants from every where in the world the majority of which are studying and working in film & dance. This might be because of the three major film studios and the Museum of Moving Image located in Astoria.
Also the ten minute ride into the Manhattan does not hurt. We are in one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in the world with people mostly from Greece, Italy, the Balkan's, Brazil, Colombia, Japan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Mexico. They all have opened their own authentic restaurants in the neighborhood.
Steinway street is a major shopping district with national stores such as STARBUCKS, VICTORIA SECRETS, GAP, GAP KIDS, KINKOS and many others which reside between Broadway and 30th Avenue.
-Subway Access is a short two blocks away (M, R,) at the Steinway station and a ten minute stroll to the Broadway Station (N & Q).
Any of these trains are just a 10 minute ride into the Lexington Avenue and 59th Street stop in Manhattan (leaves you on the corner by the world famous Bloomingdales) and 15 minutes to Times Square. The subway runs all day and night (every 5-7 minutes) and is safe to ride all the time.
In few minutes you can be in Times Square or on Madison/Fifth Avenues window shopping, checking out New York's world famous museums or taking a walk in Central Park, going to the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center or seeing a Broadway show or just wandering the streets of Manhattan. We have everything you look for in a great neighborhood...LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.
The subway is just 3 blocks away from the apartment! A 15 minute ride to Manhattan - Times Square !
Please respect our clean apartment and do not smoke. We only allow a maximum of 2 guests at a time due to the small size of the apartment. Please put everything back the way you found it.
Photo IDs - State identifications/drivers license or Passports required. We will need to have a picture identification of you for our records.
Arrival was seamless... Excellent comprehensive instructions allowed us easy entry without assistance.
Apartment was as described
Comfortable, warm.. Very important as the weather was extreme during this visit, excellent hot water supply and very comfortable bed.
This area of Queens is delightful.. Lots of quirky shops, endless eateries, cheap and expensive, and a vast range of nationalities making for great local experiences.
Any minor problems which surfaced were immediately addressed.
This apartment had some important features to me: very responsive hosts with great communication (thanks, Marilena and Yiota!), a comfortable bed, a very convenient location in a safe but vibrant neighborhood and quiet enough to get a good sleep. (Note that you will hear rumbling of the subway from time to time, but I didn't find it disruptive at all). The marble bench in the shower was a nice touch, too! Thanks for hosting me at the GEM. :)
Yiota made sure to follow up with us throughout our stay at the Studio. The Subway was a few short blocks away, maybe 9 stops to Time Square. The bathroom did get a bit cold, so if staying in the Winter I'd recommend you turn on the heater 30min+ before showering.
The reservation was canceled 21 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
A fantastic apartment in a fantastic part of town. Just a short subway ride to the centre of NYC. Lots of great New York life near the apartment, but once inside peace and tranquility give the weary sightseer a haven to recharge. Just a perfect size for two, there is everything you need to tour the city that never sleeps (with the occasional 40 winks!). We never got to meet Yiota or her 'team' but the emailed conversations and instructions were perfect. Highly recommended.
Really enjoyed my 4 night stay in the studio apartment. Location was good, and on a main street with close access to subway, restaurants, local food stores (Vitality Health in particular was excellent). As other reviewers have commented, the subway can be heard from the flat, but this did not disturb my night's sleep (although I do live in London so used to nighttime noise). The flat was nice and warm, and felt clean. I travelled as a single female (25yo) and felt safe in the area. Good value stay for the price. Oh, and the bed was super comfortable.
Apartamento muy coqueto y bien situado cerca del metro y de Manhattan, genial para conocer NYC, lo recomiendo totalmente
I was born and raised in the heart of Astoria. It was a great experience growing up in Astoria. The area has really grown and become much more ethnically diverse over the years, but it never loses its charm and small town feel.
THE FELLA IN THE PICTURE IS MY UNCLE!
My husband and I are recently married and spend much of our time hanging out with friends and family in Astoria. We have a very large family and lots of friends in Astoria who are all very helpful in any venture we pursue. Thanks to family of all ages, we know the best nooks and crannies the neighborhood has to offer.
My husband and I operate this AirBNB apartment together. We look forward to providing you with an authentic New York experience.
