this simple small room is good for friends traveling together or couples who don't mind sleeping in separate beds while they stay here. you must walk past the living room where there's sometimes guests or the host(ess) hanging out.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Hi, are xx-xx dates available?
check the calendar, if there's availability, feel free to make a booking, i've had many times other guests book the dates someone is looking for because they are writing to ask me if the days they want are available.
Where are you located??
check the tab on this listing that says "location", that will show you where i live, and where you will be located in relation to wherever you would like to visit.
How far away are you from X?
times square- 15 minutes
central park 10-20min(depends where, it's big)
midtown west 15 minutes
midtown east 20-25 minutes
union square 25 minutes
east village 30 minutes
downtown 30-35 minutes
again, look at the "location" tab/link on this listing. do you know the address? i have mentioned in the listing description above how far the travel time is from my place to other parts of town. but you can always check with the nyc public transit "mta trip planner" (search for it online as i cannot post links here, sorry) to see how long it will take to get from the address in question to the 137 st/city college stop. or use openstreetmap or one of the popular online maps sites which i cannot mention by name.
can i use the kitchen??
does your place have a bathroom??
seriously??? no, i go outside in the alleyway to wash & relieve myself, even in the winter, when it's freezing cold out. this is nyc after all, many of us are still without indoor plumbing.
the bathroom is shared between the 3 bedrooms in this apartment, there can be a bathroom rush hour at times.
do i get keys?
yes, of course
is it a private bedroom?
yes, you will have a private room to yourself in a shared apartment.
is there a curfew?
i have a small, clean room i am renting in a busy, safe neighborhood, right off manhattan's main street (broadway) located on the 1st floor and in the back of the building, so it's (usually) quiet in the apartment. sometimes in the summer the latin flavor of this neighborhood can be heard by the sounds of salsa, merengue, bachata, etc. but not till very late, almost never past midnight, and not really loud enough to have ever bothered any guests before.
i'm located between 2 big avenues with public transportation. subway is across the street, on broadway as well as buses, which also run up and down amsterdam(both directions). 24 hr food, liquor stores, laundry, hardware, restaurants, t-mobile(for sim cards), etc. all right here. 30min travel time by subway to east village (8st N,R,W trains) 15 minutes to times square 10 minutes to central park.
room has a twin size loft bed, and a small futon beneath it. rent alone and use futon as couch or bed, or sleeps 2.
* no pets
* $35 in case you lose the keys, or whatever it might cost you to replace them yourself.
* this a cheap way to visit manhattan, but it is a private residence; please be courteous and by cleaning up after yourself, or chip in for housecleaning services. (very important, I've had horrible luck with slobs, I am not a slob.)
* this may be redundant, but i have had problems with guests making a mess in the kitchen and bathroom and not cleaning up after themselves. this is not a hotel, you are a guest in my home, please clean up after yourself.
i can offer some concierge type services, but if you don't want to clean up after yourself, go book your stay at a hotel and pay extra for it. please be clean and respectful in my home as i will show you respect and hospitality and provide you with a clean place to live, cook, and sleep.
bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, fridge, eating area (can't really call it a dining room), living room.
Interaction with Guests
it depends, i am fairly good at reading people to see if they want to be left alone or not. also, sometimes i need to be alone or have something to do and wont be interacting with guests, but i will always do my best to be accommodating and helpful.
the diversity, safety and convenience are what make this a great neighborhood to stay in while visiting NYC. despite being far uptown, it still being in manhattan, there are many more conveniences than staying in almost any part of brooklyn, queens, the bronx, etc.
buses and subway 24 hrs within 65-80m
House rules are pretty simple.
Please take off your shoes when you enter and clean up after yourself. i.e. do not leave hair clogging the tub drain, crumbs of food laying around, even though you put away your food, etc. because you will be sharing my flat with me and possibly other guests too, so please be courteous.
Turn off lights when you leave a room, or the flat/apt.
This was a great place to stay in NYC! The room was clean, Sameer was friendly & helpful, the place is super-close to a subway station & grocery store, & I felt safe at all times, even walking back at 3 am. Highly recommended!
My experience was very great in New York. Ssammer was quite kind with me and my friend. The best is that the metro station is so close that I had to walk just two blocks.
Ssameer is super sweet and welcoming. We would love to come back some day.
Very good experience!!good temperature at home and the restroom is clean. location close to subway station. Very recomended.
It's always awesome staying here and catching up with Ssameer & Sally!
Ssameer was so friendly and accommodating! He gives you the keys to his place so you can come and go as you wish.
For a budget traveler, the location is fantastic. There's a McDonald's and a little grocery store about a block away. The subway is conveniently close too.
It was a painless first Airbnb experience and I'd do it again if I find myself back in NYC.
