Ó Meu Amor is a house, in the historic centre of Viana do Castelo (70km from Oporto).
Created in 2012, this house consists of 9 thematic rooms ( 7 couple rooms and 2 with two beds - some of them have the view over Monte de Santa Luzia), bathrooms, kitchen and common rooms which include: Internet and TV.
The building was built before 1946 and is fully restored. It has a square in the front where once was located a water well that supplied the whole city.
The price of the rooms is 38 € (2 persons - 19€ / person) with included breakfast.
Downstairs the house, you will find a Tea Room, where breakfasts are served, open to the public during the afternoon and evening where you can find: home made cakes and cookies, tea, coffee, etc .
In this place sometimes we also do some events for everyone like: Poetry, Art Exhibitions, Concerts, Shows, etc...
We seek to provide our guests unforgettable experiences and give them the best of comfort with everything they are entitled.
A mi me resultó divertido. Añadir que el precio es económico para la media de Viana do Castelo.
This guesthouse is in central viana do castelo and within walking distance from all the lovely restaurants. We never met Ana, instead there was another lady there. Luckily my husband speaks portuguese as she had no English. The guesthouse was very clean. While we were there we saw a lot of the rooms getting make overs and they looked very well decorated. We were in the attic 'Indian room'. It was very hot but we couldn't open the window as the noise from the bar opposite was too loud and once that was closed the seagulls started. Also there were some Mosquitos around so we kept the window closed. Most of the other rooms seemed to be at the back of the house though.
We where looking forward to our stay in Viana do Castelo and contacted Ana about our arrival, time where to meet etc. But she did not reply to our messages, this felt a bit neglected but ok it's not that big of a deal. So we arrived, after some searching, tried to call Ana but she did not pick up, and here welcomed by a friendly girl which was not Ana, in the end Ana was actually never there. She brought us to our room and the room was really small, we could have known this because they used fish eye lenses to take the pictures (aka never book a place with only fisheye pictures!). We had one double bed and an air bed, this was not communicated with us we where told there where 2 real beds. after asking for it we got a "real" bed, super thin mattress. The breakfast is an absolute joke! Bread which was there for days, jams out in the open and tea, SO NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES MAKE YOU BELIEVE. Also the hole atmosphere was like a hostel instead of an local stay, WIFI was bad and only in one room of the house. The price we have payed for our stay here was the highest of all our travels through Portugal and the quality the poorest!! For aprox. 60 Euro per night we felt like it was an easy earn and that there was no real interest in the guest or in their comfort of their stay. If you are looking for cosy intimate stay, or value for your money I would recommend you to pay 10/20/30 euros more and stay somewhere else!
Ana and her assistant was very accommodating as a host and made sure that I had a very pleasant stay here. The room was absolutely lovely, with gorgeous views, and the whole house was filled with a hospitable and neat atmosphere. The place felt very clean although the building is very vintage and authentic. I LOVED the feel of this place!
The location is amazing! There are restaurants just outside the door, and it is very much set in the centre of the historical part of the city. The walk from the train station is very easy, and in general it is great to be staying at such a great location. Although it is very much down town, the street is quite easy-going and not too busy. The main streets are a mere block away.
The only negative thing would be that the nearby church rings its bells every half hour from 8am, but well, that really just adds to the authentic, historical-centre feeling.
I have been hosted by Ana for two nights during my travel in Portugal. The house is pretty beautiful and clean. My room was comfartable and quiet. The price was definitely convenient: the house is located into the heart of the city centre. The staff was really helpful as well.
