The house is very nice. It's well equipped and very clean. It was great having enough space for everyone to spread out and be comfortable in. Phil was very prompt in his replies and made sure he answered any questions.
There were a couple slight drawbacks, but they may be helpful for someone to know in the future.
- The road is busy and loud. When you're staying in the master bedroom every morning around 8am we were woken by the sounds of traffic. It's not the end of the world but don't have your light sleepers stay in that room.
- Got the general impression that the owners were skeptical and concerned about us staying there... I assume this is because of our age (late 20s). I hope they feel better seeing how clean and organized we left the place but it was a bit of an unpleasant feeling when you could tell the owners weren't sure they wanted us staying at their place. This is inspite of having very good reviews from our last booking with Airbnb. I understand you have to be careful as a homeowner but it wasn't the best feeling for us.
BUT overall a great place to stay and the owners are very organized and prompt with their responses.
La casa es absolutamente hermosa. Las fotos no hacen justicia a la casa. Todo estaba preparado para recibirnos y había todo lo necesario, y más también, para que nuestra estadía fuera un placer.
Beautiful spacious place, inside and out. Had everything we needed and was very clean. Felt luxurious with a beautiful view front and back. Great communication, too. The only draw back was that the road it was on was a bit busy, but this was offset by the private and beautiful back yard setting.
Shale Beach House is perfect for any group. It is spacious, modern and clean. Ready to use even when we reserved like day before. Philip and Coleen responded quickly and accepted us with no problem. I would recommend this house to any of my friends without any doubts.
I rented the Shale beach house for a weekend in October for a getaway with my friends. We were pleasantly surprised at just how spacious, sparkling clean, and generally well-appointed the house was. The surrounding property is also gorgeous with a cozy patio, a fire pit, and a lively creek running through the backyard. The pictures give a good idea, but they don't do the place real justice.
There's plenty to do nearby with the Georgian trail right behind the house, the Craigleigh provincial park across the road, and Collingwood and Blue Mountain only a short drive away.
Philip responded quickly and in detail to all my questions during the rental process, and it was overall a breeze. We had a wonderful stay, and I would love to rent the house again in the future.
