The Space

Situated on a sea facing canyon this beautiful, tranquil home has to be seen to be believed.

Over looking the Pacific toward the island of Catalina.

An idyllic house with ample on site parking.

Surrounded by three acres of mature gardens, oranges, lemons and figs are ready to pick upon your arrival.

The apartment comprises of bedroom, bathroom, galley kitchen, large sitting room and private sea facing terrace.

The one bedroom, open concept apartment is perfectly suited for a couple but has a small pull out bed for a child.

The bathroom has a curtain rather than a door.

Access to the Malibu beaches and the Santa Monica Mountains are within seconds of the house.

There are scuba diving facilities and world class restaurants on the Pacific Coat Highway.

Drive along the Pacific Coast Highway to Zuma Beach, shop at the luxurious Lumber Yard.

There is a discreet public access to Billionaires Beach at the bottom of the hill.

Santa Monica is only 20 minutes away.

Wifi and cable are available.

This unique home has everything a trip to Malibu promises.

There is also another totally separate apartment in the same house with it's own access and terraces etc. which can be viewed at:

A car is absolutely essential whist staying at our home.

  • This Malibu hideaway is truely an amazing experience. My girlfriend and I made the beautiful drive up the hideaway at dusk after a long day of dolphin watching and going to a taping of Jimmy Kimmel. We caught the final moments of the sunset as we arrived.

Situated on a mountainside overlooking the Pacific to the south, the incredible views are what make this place one-of-a-kind. The lot is filled with a small pond with fish, beatiful trees, magenta flowers growing on vines, enormous twisting cacti, and a garden with lemons, oranges, and grapes.

The living space was cozy with great art (especially the piece hanging above the table) and comfortable furniture. The entertainment center included cable, speakers and a subwoofer for music, and a connoisseur selection of DVDs. The kitchen was fully stocked with plates, glasses, utensils, soap, paper towells, an icemaker, and most importantly, a bottle/wine opener. There was plenty of drawer space to unpack and settle in, and the bed was comfy and clean.

The ocean facing wall of windows is what really gives this place its character, as my girlfriend and I found out the next day after sleeping in until noon (the window shades were very effective). The view from the house is absolutely breathtaking as the ocean is perfectly framed by mountains to the east and west. The porch includes a breakfast nook that also perfectly frames the ocean. A hawk swooped right over my head the second morning.

Topanga Beach is conveniently right at the base of the mountain. If you head there, I recommend keeping to the east side of the beach to avoid rocks. If your willing to do a little extra driving, I recommend El Matador beach an half hour to the west on the Pacific Coast Highway for a much smaller crowd and a lot of nooks to find some true R&R.

Duncan was an ideal host, responsive, honest, and easy to get along with. His Malibu hideaway was so beautiful that I decided to ditch my earlier plans to propose to my now fiancé where we met and proposed while on vacation in here. I highly, highly recommend this place.

  • Gorgeous place, the view is breathtaking, loved the fact that the pad was quite secluded , so many plants and flowers..you don't feel in LA. traffic in Malibu not so great but we so enjoyed staying there and communication with Duncan was great.
All went so smoothly. We would definitely stay again.

  • I moved to Hollywood from Maine a year ago, and my dad was visiting me for the first time. He's not much of a city person and he's never been to LA before, so I wanted to take him somewhere that will impress him. Duncan's place was PERFECT. Quiet, perfect location, beautiful views, good price. I couldn't have asked for more. My Dad and I were very happy. I'd definitely stay here again.

  • The house was perfect for my boyfriend and me. The views are spectacular and the cozy space was just right for us. Everything was clean, and we enjoyed being able to pick up groceries and eat at home. I knew the views would be great, but nothing compares to seeing them in person. Staying at Duncan's gave us the opportunity to take some great local heights, and explore the mountain roads, which were fun and had incredible views. Would definitely stay there again, and wished I could have stayed longer.

  • My husband and I stayed at this place for our honeymoon. It was beautiful, and more then we had ever expected it would be. It was private, which we loved. This is a place for anyone who loves a get away, and a gorgeous view. The breathtaking view was the best part. It is almost nothing compared to the pictures. You seriously needs to see it and experience it for yourself. If you're interested do not hesitate, I guarantee it's worth the stay!

  • Stayed @ Duncan's towards the end of April. The apartment has the most amazing view and the landscaping is gorgeous. It reminded me a lot of Costa Rica in regards to the landscaping and view. The apartment was well stocked with kitchen utensils and other items we used for cooking. Duncan was very quick to respond to questions we sent via text. Our first experience with Airbnb and we were very happy. Will definitely be using again.

  • My husband and I stayed at Duncan's Malibu Hideaway for our anniversary and our first Airbnb experience. The place lived up to the description and photos completely. It was a perfect getaway with an amazing view of the ocean, but removed enough not to hear any traffic or noise. Duncan was very friendly upon our arrival and stay, while it also truly felt like we were on vacation in our own space. Our favorite aspect of the place was the the small deck/porch area to wake up and have coffee. There is also a bench with an incredible view, less than a minute's walk up the road. I can't say enough about the well kept gardens and view from inside and out, it was beautiful. The location was perfect for trips to Santa Monica and Venice in only a short drive.

  • hello ! i don't now where to start my review such the place was wonderful …

The place were amazing , peaceful , , i come to LA for few times , and it was the best place i stay in . the view is beautiful , and wake up all day with a view at the ocean , like we say in french , HO LA LA .

It may seem far away to some people, this is not a problem! really go ahead without hesitation, the place and the road leading to it deserve this "small" ride .

I can't wait to come back to L.A and For sur when i come back , i'll stay at this place !!

  • We loved our stay!! Such a great little private retreat but not too far from all the great things the city has to offer. Just hiking around the neighborhood was incredible, such great views! The drive up was really curvy but you get used to it :) thanks!!
