***** artist gift economy ****
if you are an artist, and ready to gift me your art piece, painting, then you may stay for this rate. Of course, you are welcome to gift back some money on top of your art work.
We prefer painting/drawing or something that we can decorate at our house. Please do not buy something on the street and give us. We want original work.
We will set an artist price for you. Please mention you are an artist when booking.

* there is no air conditioner! However, the fan is cooling enough.**
* could be slightly noisy due to the neighbour's air-con compressor coming on-off. If you are noise sensitive, this room is not for you. Or, if you don't mind sleeping with ear plug
++ we have added a pond with water fountain, it should help to filter some noise and add in soothing running water sound.

It was located along a stretch of wholesalers. The location was totally not as describe in the website. The street consists of wholesalers pushing carts around dangerously, extremely noisy and rowdy. It was also far apart from Jonker Street which took us 45 minutes to locate the homestay even with guidance from the locals. There was no proper signage and the gate was closed. The entire place was dark. It was then a woman woke up from the couch lazily, lacking of awareness about our arrival. We had serious communication barrier in language. An old lady gestured us to the wrong room all the way to 3rd storey when our room was at the 1st storey. She was unable to determine if the room on the 1st storey belong to us. One of us spoke to the owner and enquire about the exact room. We managed to find the room we had booked online but under non-liveable condition that differs from the photo. The room was located at the back of the kitchen. The kitchen was in a mess with dirty utensils and pests crawling about. We had a total of 4 pax. As stated on the website, if we have more than 2 guests, they would be able to arrange another queen sized bed. However, it turned out that we were only given one double bed and one single mattress that was not properly arranged and placed on the ground. Both mattresses were filthy and had terrible stench. The bathroom has big bulk of unwashed laundry hanging around and the bathtub was filled with dirty towels. We did not manage to see sky & stars but ONLY bra and panties hanging in the room that disgust us. One of us was told off by the owner through the phone, “What’s the PROBLEM WITH THE ROOM???” His tone was harsh. We requested for him to drop by to take a look at the non-liveable condition we were facingbut rejected. There is only one particular room at the 3rd storey which was the best out of worst. We suggested shifting one of the mattress from the 1st storey to the “best” room to minimize time constraint, hassle and difficulty. To our horror, the floor was covered with a thick layer of dust and sand. Due to the above mentioned situation, unbearable and non-liveable condition, we had no choice but to give up staying at the place. It was not a good choice to stay behind, putting our life at risks. As of consequence of which we were put to unnecessary expenses to look for another hotel which cost us SGD300 for 2 rooms. We spent unnecessary travel duration of 3 hours to find a proper place to stay. This was meant to be a holiday vacation for us to relax and enjoy. Yet, this unexpected incident ruined our entire day of plans. This is absolutely unacceptable, unreliable for us to trust the website again. We felt cheated of money...
First of all, I would like to apologise for your bad experience. My caretaker suffered from illness(high blood pressure & legs problem), she was having problem moving around since 19th Dec.
I am sorry that you were having a hard time locating us. It is stated that there isn't any signage. We did provide the address & map on airbnb. If you study the map, our place is very close to Jonker street.
Yes, I did ask what was the problem with the room, so that I can help to rectify. I was told laundry was in the water tub in the bathroom, I told your friend that I can arrange for the laundry to be removed and the place be cleaned. The caretaker usually uses the bathroom to do the laundry. Perhaps, the caretaker didn't do her job well, and forgot which room to prepare for you.
I also told your friend that 2 queen beds could be arranged. Cause sometimes, other guests would prefer to have 1 queen + 1 single so that there are more room in the room. If you look at the pictures carefully, you will notice that the mattresses are supposed to be on the platform. There is not bed frame.
I am sorry that I wasn't able to be there as I live in KL.
Please take pictures as evident the next time. I believe that you have exaggerated quite a bit. Yes, the floor could be dusty sometimes, due to it being on a busy street. The caretaker could have not done her job well due to her sickness.
There is now other helpers to help do the cleaning.
It was a great place to stay! We stayed in the room for three people and it had it's own shower so it was very convenient for us. The caretaker couldnt speak english but she was really nice and always willing to help.
Thank you for the host and it was a good stay for me. Moreover, it is situated just next to the Jonker street, so I could have a walk there at night.
I didn't meet Lainux in person because i arrive late midnight and he already arrange his caretaker, Ibu Latifah for get in me to the house. Latifah doing good job and she do coffee for us even we arriving late.
The environment at night more calm and morning little bit noisy because the next door is grocery factory. The house look great with local traditional Baba's Nyonya decoration and feeling experience of lives in the village.
I do happy along my stay even only single night in Lainux's place and looking forward for next visit.
very atmospheric place. The house has a very nature feel to it.
Quite easy to find on the way there as there are plenty of landmarks to guide you. Close proximity to Jonker street, good amount of eating places and cafes nearby.
It is quiet when I arrived and the maid open the gate for us. After staying in the place, we feel alone and no other tenants. The toilet facility is not working properly, we cannot flash the water after used. The neighborhood air-con compressor does affect our resting place in the room. Just like sleeping next to a noisy factory next door and it is hard to get used to it.
The maid is friendly through out our stayed and the owner is not around. you don't a chance to meet the owner face to face.
Very nice place for the price! Near everything you will want to see in Melaka

I like to travel and love to stay at alternative lodging to hotel. After getting involved in this BNB project, I have become more handy. I believe in a unique experience & design. Thus, most of our places are done by me & friends. Many furnitures are done by me. I am now able to do plumbing work, electrical wiring(though I have degree in EE), carpenting & more. I enjoy all the challenges I faced.
I believe in recycle, reuse & repurpose. You can see many of the things used are done this way. Also, I tried to work many of the eco friendly elements into my places. Latest project was a solar water heater, rain water & air cond water collection for toilet flushes.
I hope you like my designs & effort that I put in. Do feel free to drop me a line for anything.
