The Space

I have a lovely upstairs bedroom for two in my home with it's own private bathroom. My home is located in Western Sonoma County in Guerneville, CA, the heart of the Russian River Valley Wine Country, 5 min. from Armstrong Redwoods State Park & the town of Guerneville, 20 min. from the ocean, 5 min.
from the Russian River beaches, 30 minutes from Healdsburg, and1.5 hours from San Francisco. My neighborhood is on a cul-de-sac, so it is very quiet with no traffic. The house is on a hill in the sun, but looks down on Redwood trees. There are great
hiking and biking trails right in my backyard. There are several good restaurants in town including Applewood which had a Michelin star for many years. My home is close to all the Wine Roads, so wine tasting is a must! I worked in the hospitality industry for 20 years and recently retired. Traveling is one of my passions and I would love to share my home with like minded guests. My household is a quiet one with only my dog, Chino, and myself. I provide a Continental Breakfast with local pastries and fresh fruit, and weather permitting, it can be enjoyed on the deck with a view of the redwoods. I have friends in the local tour business, so I can make recommendations and help you plan your visit. WIFI is also included.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to my entire home-both front and back decks, as well as the living area. I don't encourage guests to use the kitchen to prepare meals, however, I am comfortable with use of the refrigerator and microwave.

Interaction with Guests

I interact with my guests as much as they feel comfortable with. I enjoy having a glass of wine or two with my guests, but also know how to respect quiet time and space. I do try to be home when my guests arrive so I can show them the home.

Getting around

There is a local taxi service as well as a bus in town which is about a 20 min. walk from my home.

  • Unfortunately our plans changed and we had to take out of town relatives back home
. We did not stay with Patricia but the neighborhood is the definition of peaceful. A great area to stay for relaxation and access to Russian River wineries.

  • Patricia's home was great! I was in town for the weekend for a wedding, and although I wasn't at the house much, it was apleasant stay. She was very accomodating, the house was beautiful, and she left breakfast for me in the morning. Chino, the dog, was also super sweet. The bed was comfy, new mattress, and I slept like a baby! Thanks Patricia!!

  • We had a great stay overall — Patricia was a great host, very caring, attentive and accommodating. The house is in a quiet, secluded area surrounded with beautiful greenery; it's a great location close to Guerneville and Armstrong Park. We also loved the two sweet dogs on premises.

The morning was our favorite — Patricia served a very fresh, tasty breakfast that we enjoyed on her beautiful deck. It was magical.

A couple of things to be aware of — if you seek real privacy, this would probably not be a good fit. Also, we thought that the mattress needed replacing as the left side was really sinking. My girlfriend didn't get a good night sleep as a result. (I will be providing this feedback to Patricia.)

    Response from Patricia:

Thank you for the feedback. I have not had any negative comments about the mattress to date, but certainly appreciate the feedback. It is a European slat type mattress and sometimes the slats shift-will check it out!

  • Patricia was a very gracious and welcoming. She has a beautiful and comfortable home. Patricia offered to make and bake all kinds of things for breakfast, but we are not big breakfast people. Patricia provided some really great sweet local berries (delicious). If Guerneville is on your itinerary we would highly recommend staying here. Also check out the Garden Grill while in town.

    Hi Gigi,

I am sorry the bed didn't suit you and your son. Most people say it is comfortable, but as you said, everyone has their own preference. I enjoyed meeting you both!

  • We were in Guerneville to participate in a 30k trail race in the Armstrong Redwoods State Park and chose Patti's house for its close proximity to the park as well as the glowing reviews, all of which are true. We stayed 3 nights and felt very much at home. A special thank you, Patti and Jim, for sharing a sample of your freshly dived abalone - that was a special treat! Also, you recommendation to drive up the coast to Mendocino was perfect for us. Can't wait to come back!

    Response from Patricia:

Thank you, Charmaine. Jim and I really enjoyed spending time with you and Gerhard. Happy that the Mendocino detour worked out well! :)

I am an active, retired, single woman who loves to cook, travel, hike, drink wine, and meet new people. I love to socialize, so I am a very good host but also know when people need their "quiet time."Airbnb has been a wonderful experience for me and sharing my home and my experiences is very rewarding. I really enjoy what I learn from my guests, as well. After all, as Thomas Friedman so aptly said, airbnb is part of the new "Sharing Economy."I live by the "Golden Rule"--treat others as you would have them treat you and live each day as if it's your last! Life can be fleeting...
