Share with a performer / artist and her child, a quirky 13 year old, and a cute collie cross called Maxi (sleeps outdoors!). We are queer friendly, kid friendly, just about every kind of friendly :} Expect lots of artworks, musical instruments, movie nights and an occasional rehearsal! I keep my home clean and my garden fruitful - herbs, vegies and fruit trees out front, tropical forest plants out back. We are breeding the endangered Cairns Birdwing Butterfly in our back yard!
While you are here, you are one of the family. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and if you would like to share other meals with us you are welcome - I just ask that you contribute something to the kitchen in return :} If you prefer to eat out or to cook for yourself that is also perfectly fine.
I walk the dog at the creek or the beach every day, and we quite often do day trips to beautiful local forests, markets and festivals. Guests are welcome to join us on our outings. We are both involved in the arts, and you are also welcome to join us at theater, music and visual arts events. Be as social, or as reclusive, as you feel - this is your home for the time being. Come and stay!
There is a bicycle, and a moped that guests can borrow to get around. Guests are welcome to use all the household amenities: pool, washing machine, computer and printer, kitchen, TV and X Box, musical instruments, games - anything that is kept in shared areas is for sharing!
Interaction with Guests
I work from home, and am usually on hand to answer questions or give local tips. We like to share meals with our guests, and to spend time having fun.

Reef trips all depart from the Marina, which is in town - a 20 minute bus ride or a 10 minute cab fare (around $20 by cab). Depending on my work and home schedule, I'm happy to offer lifts into town and/or to the Marina. There are 2 bus routes within 5 minute's walk from our front door. Both will take you to town, local shopping centres, and the Botanical Gardens and Arts Centres.

Far North Queensland is full of wildlife, and the wildlife will come into your bedroom if you have food in it!
Had a really nice stay at Zeldas house. Good opportunity to relax. Even I came quite early (4am), she prepared everything for my arrival.
Our time with Zelda, Oli, and Max was the highlight of our trip to Australia. We felt at home right away! She always had helpful tips about Cairns and always had good advice to offer us whenever we had any questions.
There's a bus stop just down the street that goes into the city that takes about 20 minutes or so, but many times we were able to get a lift with Zelda when she went into town. She also gave us a lift back to the airport when it was time for us to fly out!
We'll miss having dinner together, and your yummy smoothies :) Thank you Zelda and Oli for everything! 3
Zelda was a really nice host. She helped us with directions and gave us tips for our activities. She even lifted us to the center of the city ans helped me with my big sunburns. We really appreciated the time spent at her house.
Such a delight to stay at Zelda's. The house has a lovely vibe thanks to her laid back and community-minded approach to life. She lent me a bike which made it super easy to get around & made everything accessible, from great cold brew coffee at Edge Hill to walks through the botanic gardens to organic fruit & veg in town at Rusty's market. The pool is also amazing.
Had a great time with Zelda. The swimming pool was used lots and it is larger than it looks in photo.
Zelda has her own jazz group and it was great watching them practice,She also let me go on a photo shoot with them.
Mac,the dog is very friendly and let me take him for walks.
You are sure of a good holiday with Zelda,Oli and Mac.
