Interaction with Guests
I live here, so I'll be around to answer questions and what not. A guidebook is placed in the house with information on where to go, what to do, and how to treat the house :)
Samara is a lovely town with a great tourist vibe, coupled with authentic Costa Rican culture. You will love the calm waves, and the access to neighboring beaches. Great restaurants abound here!
Casa Coco is close to everything! Within seconds you are on the beach, and within minutes you are in the heart of Playa Samara. A simple beach cruiser is also included in the rental price for easy traveling around Samara and to neighboring beaches.
No smoking. For matters of privacy and security, only pre-approved paid guests allowed on the property!
Me and my boyfriend spent the last 4 days of our holiday at Nicky and Andrea's place. It was a real good closure after traveling around in Costa Rica for 2 weeks. Nicky , Andrea and Kimbo were really lovely and their place feels really cosy.
Samara is a relax little town were you really can chill and have a good surf.
Their house was close to the beach what is a real pro.
If we would ever come back to Costa Rica we would definitely go back to Samara and spent some more nights at their place!
Andrea and her boyfriend Nicky were wonderful host! They were both very welcoming and helpful.
I loved my stay in Sámara with Andrea. The house is a few metres away from the beach in a very peaceful location. As I went in the rainy season, it was hot and muggy, but the ceiling fan plus the additional fan in the room did the trick!
Andrea is friendly and caring, she helped me out with the necessary phone calls when I had to chase after the airline as they had lost my luggage.
Andrea makes you feel welcome but has her own schedule, as she works. She immediately creates the space for you to be able to do your own thing and gives you all the information so that you can plan your travels in the best way possible. She even has a little folder with maps and additional info prepared for the guests. :)
Kimba is cuddly and charming, and I felt very much at home and would not hesitate to go back to stay with Andrea in Sámara the next time I come to Costa Rica!
Great location super close to the beach. We were able to walk everywhere. The host was also very helpful in suggesting places to go. We also loved Kimbo her dog!!
Adorable beach house practically on the water and right in town. I had a great stay with Andrea who is a gracious host! She is so knowledgeable about her town and willing to share. Loved my time in Samara and it's on my list of places to re visit, so fingers crossed I will be back soon!
My son and I had a wonderful time last week with Andrea and her big sweet dog named Kimba.
The house and bedroom were simple and clean and provided all we needed; to name some the use of the indoor and outdoor shower, towels clean sheets, fans, kitchen, coffeemaker, outdoor shower even a beach bike. Andrea was friendly and helpful while respecting our privacy, she patiently answered all my questions about Samara.
Staying with Andrea will give you a realistic insight of the life of an expat in the tropics; yes it can be hot and you need your fan, there might be some mosquito's, a gecko on the wall, monkey's screaming in the trees outside and the occasional bark of a dog or crow of a rooster ; if your not into that than please book a 4 star hotel...
We had everything needed restaurants, surf school, supermarket within 5 min walking distance.
Best memories;1 making my morning coffee the way I like it(strong with a lot of milk), carry my mug barerfoot for 2 min down the little dirt track to the beach, passing 2 free range horses munching on mango's on my way and then drink my coffee watching the sun rise and listening to the waves braking with my feet in the warm sand...
2 Getting to know Kimba and taking him for walks on the beach; I miss him!!!
3 My son really appreciated the WFI connection and being able to walk to the beach to go surfing or bike around town and be safe and independent.
Wonder full host, charming place, wish to go back soon!
Andrea is lovely and has a wonderful little place just steps from the beach! It comes with some of the accompanying quirks from being so close to the beach (mosquitos, howler monkeys yelling in the night, and very hot with no AC), but as long as you know that going in, her place is perfect for a stay in Samara. Andrea had two fans in the bedroom to fight the heat, offered us coffee in the morning, and has an outdoor shower to rinse off from a day at the beach, and was happy to offer us a beach towel. Highly recommended!

About the Host, Andrea
My name is Andrea and I have lived in Costa Rica since 2006. I love Samara, and am happy to call it home. I love to surf, hang with my dog, and I especially love my job- working as the Program Director for La Asociacion CREAR. We are a free after-school program for the local children, focused on arts, critical thinking and girl's empowerment. I live a relaxed lifestyle- early morning surfing, or walks on the beach, long days with CREAR, and peaceful evenings at Casa Coco. My boyfriend Nicky also lives here, and he is a total pleasure to have around. He was born and raised in nearby Playa Carrillo, so he can offer plenty of local insight and knowledge. He is also a very talented surfer that is always willing to share some tips! Nicky loves to cook and spearfish, so sometimes there is fresh fish to share, and his dad runs a sportfishing boat, so in the summer months we usually have mahi mahi to spare! Nicky manages a local surf school, so we can get you the best prices for surf lessons and board rentals, and put you in to contact with the best tour operators in the area.
