Are you interested in experiencing the real Costa Rica? Come to Turrialba, a small but charming town surrounded by beautiful mountains and plenty of tourism activities.
Our house is very spacious, well maintained and perfectly located. We have extensive experience in renting rooms, over the course of the last 10 years, we have opened our doors to many guests who often times became friends after their stay.
I am member of the Friendship Force and a preferred provider of accommodations for 2 local Spanish Schools.

We can easily fill up a week with recreational activities, most of them related with admiring the natural wonders of Costa Rica.
We also own a front beach house we can rent in case you want to experience a tropical beach get away while staying Costa Rica.
Staying with Flora is really more like a home stay than renting a room at a BnB. Flora values highly the connections she makes with her guests, and is very generous with her time--sitting and chatting, showing us around, even offering to accompany us to dinner (and she went out of her way to accommodate our allergy-restricted breakfast needs--thank you, again, Flora!) We also got to meet her daughter and 12 year old granddaughter--very fun trying to communicate across languages :-)! (She can also hook you up with Spanish lessons, if you want them.) Staying there is a very personal treat if that's the kind of interaction you're looking for.
Physically, the house is clean and comfortable; the room has a good bed and lots of shelves and cabinets for your stuff. Great if you're staying a while. And it's easily walkable to the center of town.
A couple of less optimal things: One is that the home is on a really busy street, which meant exhaust fumes if we opened the windows (it wasn't the end of the world, because it wasn't that hot, even at the end of Jan., but still, the option for fresh air would have been nice), and if you're a light sleeper you'll need ear plugs.
The other thing is, as currently configured, only one person in the house can be on-line at a time, and Flora likes to use it a lot; so though she never said anything, I felt like I was interfering with her personal life when I had a project I needed to attend to. That would be fairly easy to remedy if you knew how to set everything up correctly--she has all the necessary equipment, it just wasn't all put together when we were there. In any case, if you'll need to be on-line a lot while there, it might be best to check with her before making your reservation.
Overall, meeting and staying with Flora is an enjoyable person-to-person kind of experience and can be the beginning of a lasting friendship if you want it that way.
