I have a super lovey dog that cannot stand it if you do not say "Hi" to him. Good with kids, dogs, mailmen, whatever... Am sure he would love to meet you!
Me?!? I'm just a plain Jane country girl that bought a house in a rough neighborhood 15 years ago and got lucky!
Catherine was a great host. The room was clean, cozy, and as described. The highlight of the space was the bathroom, which was just remodeled and really nice to use.
The dogs are very friendly, so if you like having someone to pet when you walk in the door, you'll enjoy it here.
Catherine is a wonderful host and has two amazing dogs, that my pups (I stayed with my wife and 2 dogs) were super happy to meet and play with. The bedroom is super comfy and the bathroom is very clean and orderly. The house is located within blocks of several coffee shops, and a short walk from two different great off-leash dog parks. Next time I need a place to stay in Portland I will plan on staying here again.
Catherine was a wonderful host and fun to talk with. Her house was beautiful and artistic, great shower! Great neighborhood.
We had a wonderful stay in Catherine's home. She and her dogs were very welcoming and made us feel at home. Even though we barely saw her because our main goal was to explore the city, when we did get a chance to talk, she was very engaging and offered great recommendations.
Her home is located within walking distance to many delicious places that Portland is known for such as Pok Pok, Beast, and Salt & Straw. We also had a rental car with us and finding parking on her street was not an issue at all.
I would definitely consider staying here again the next time I come to Portland.
My girlfriend Carissa and I had a wonderful time staying with Catherine at her house. She is very accommodating, and was able to provide a lot of great info about Portland and her neighborhood. Her dogs are a delight to be around, and treat you like you're part of the family. I recommend her greatly to anyone who wishes to visit Portland and stay in the Alberta district.
We had a little miscommunication on our arrival night, but everything was great after that. The bed was comfortable and room was very nice. We didn't hang around too much because it was our first time in Portland and we wanted to take in all we could see.
It is walking distance to Alberta where there are plenty of restaurants and shops and also to Extracto, which makes the best Chai Tea Latte that we have tasted.
Catherine was helpful in giving us advice on places to see and offered fresh fruit from her trees. Her dogs were adorable too!
Our whole stay in Portland was a delight and Catherine's cozy home was no exception! This was our first AirBnB stay and we couldn't have had a better experience.
Catherine helped us find the best local eats and ways around the city, and her adorable pups welcomed us home every night. The house was beautiful and the bed was SO comfy.
Can't wait to come back!
I know it sounds cliché,but I just had the best time at Catherine's place :-) her house is beautiful, the room has the most comfi mattress ever and Catherine is one of the most easy going women I ever met! On top of that, she lives in the best neighbourhood of Portland :-) I was quite tired after 10 months of travelling, and in Alberta I just found everything I needed. Nice cafés,resto's and galleries, and don't miss Kennedy School, which is a real hidden treasure. Catherine, thanks for all the good tips, lovely dinner and walking out the dogs together! You have a place where you can really unwind, and I hope people get inspired by your easygoing lifestyle and positive energy
My boyfriend and I had a short but lovely stay with Catherine and her ridiculously sweet dogs, Farley and Chico. All three of them made us feel right at home during our two days with them. The house had a beautiful vintage-modern energy, our bedroom & bathroom were very clean and comfortable, and Catherine was full of wonderful information about places in the neighborhood we might want to check out. We like to hike, so she also let us in on some of her favorite Portland-area scenic trails and gave us a guidebook to help us along on our adventures.
The close proximity of this place to TONS of interesting food, drink, and boutique shopping options was AWESOME. Extracto Coffee, Pine State Biscuits, Bollywood Theatre, Red Fox Vintage, Branch, and a number of other places we would have liked to have tried were all within walking distance. If you're looking for a great Alberta Arts district experience while you're in Portland, I definitely recommend Catherine's place!
Overall, I am very pleased with the stay at Catherine's in many ways. 1. There was no problem contacting her before I arrive there, and she always responded very fast. 2. As other people said, I found her place pretty, cozy, and eclectic. You can see that things are accumulated carefully over time, and in my opinion, they reflect the spirit of Portland very well. 3. Catherine was a good host. She was very friendly and gave us information that locals would only know. 4. Everything was neat and clean especially the bathroom. 5. Washer and dryer are in her basement, and there was no problem using them. And it was free! 6. I was there with my boyfriend, and she prepared two keys in advance. Yes, she is very thoughtful. :) 7. I love her neighborhood. It's in Alberta Art District, and there are many interesting places such as interesting shops, great coffee places, breweries, and restaurants. Extracto, one of the most famous coffee shops in Portland, is literally 5-min walk from her house. 8. So, if I visit Portland again, I will definitely contact Catherine first. It's affordable, pleasant, and helps you have good memories about Portland. :)
