I wasn't able to meet Heikel in person but everything went perfectly smooth nontheless. The room is nice and clean, with the shower in the kitchen a la Wien-ese. It's very conveniently located and yet quiet. I would recommend it for a nice and quick stay in the center of Wien. Thank you!
Very convenient location. Perfect for going sightseeing in the center of Vienna
This was a really great studio apartment that is larger than it looks in the pictures, very simply furnished, rather elegant, and one of the best possible locations (near classic cafes, museums quarter, easy walk to cathedrals and opera house, useful Ubahn stops, etc.) The bed is a little shaky - don't attempt it if you're unsteady on ladders, and there isn't a view, yet the whole place is airy, pleasant, clean (and warm in winter), in a charmingly ramshackle classic building on one of the most important historic streets in the city. I really enjoyed my experience of Viennese life here, and Heikel himself was always extremely helpful.
On the whole this was my fantasy flat - an airy, expansive space right in my favourite bit of Vienna - near the museums, classic cafes, and walkable to any part of Vienna's beautiful central area, as well as the cool 6th district. Yes, the grand old building is a bit faded, and as with all of the 'high bed' accommodation, you'll want to feel happy about slightly wobbly ladders. But the flat is attractive, perfectly situated, and could easily fit 2-4 people in the main 'studio' room. Nice and warm in Winter too - I had a lovely time here.
Heikel is very communicative and considerate. He was apologetic and took responsibility when things went wrong and rectified them immediately and beyond expectations. He was very available and able to come to the apartment within minutes.
The location of the apartment is terrific. You can walk underground through the subway station a block away (At the Secession Museum) all the way to the National Opera House which puts you in the middle of things. Heading the other way is a charming neighborhood with lots of places to eat and hang out. We walked almost everywhere and when we needed to travel out of central Vienna to the Weiner Riesenrad (Ferris Wheel) (website hidden) the subway was a block away.
The apartment is right across from naschmarkt - (the open air market) which has food to buy which you can cook in the apartment's kitchen, restaurants and clothing stalls. (website hidden) There is also a supermarket, dry cleaner, pharmacy and drug store on the same block as the apartment.
The Hop-On, Hop-Off Tourist Bus (Yellow Line) stops right in front of the apartment. (website hidden)
Nice house, clean, confortable, warm, very central position, two steps from secession and five from cafè sperl...we have never used buses...Heikel was kind and give us all information to reach his appartment and to enjoy our stay.
