This is a private room with it's own private bathroom. This classic 1930's house is perfectly located on Lockhart Drive, which is two blocks from South Congress Ave (@ the Mary Street intersection) in the heart of the SOCO district, and it is also 1/2 a block from Stacy Park, where you can run the trail, swim in the heated pool, and enjoy the urban forest and greenbelt each morning. The room accomodates 2 people, and has a new queen size bed, a high ceiling, great windows w/ plantation shutters, a dresser, TV and WiFi. You are free to use the eat-in kitchen, living room, washer/dryer, etc. You will be right in the middle of an urban forest, and can walk to everything on SoCo (and also walking/biking distance to downtown), in one of Austin's best neighborhoods in the 78704.
Here for SXSW? You can easily walk 2 blocks to Congress Ave, and be in the middle of all the restaurants, food trucks, and shops, then continue straight down the street and to the Congress Avenue Bridge and into downtown for SXSW. You can choose to walk/bike (or ride the Congress Ave bus at the nearby SoCo/Mary Street stop), right into downtown (1 mile ride). There's enough on SoCO to keep you busy for days even w/out SXSW, but there will also be plenty of shows at the venues on South Congress Avenue at the Continental Club, Hotel San Jose, etc.
My fiancée and I are the sole owners/occupants: she is a software developer and I am an attorney at a civil rights firm in downtown Austin. We are both happy to suggest great things to do, places to eat, and spots to check out while you are in town.
Maryam and Arif were lovely hosts - super friendly and really helpful when we needed tips on the city. Comfy room too and two adorable dogs!
Enjoyed our stay at Arif's place it was clean, well kept, cozy and centrally located. We were able to walk to congress a few blocks away where a lot of delicious restaurants were and fun shops to browse are.
Arif was very accommodating and offered lots of advice on places to eat and great music shows to check out.
The room was cozy and the private bathroom was wonderful with lots of hot water. We even enjoyed the free toiletries provided. Plus we loved the two dogs who were warm and cuddly.
Arif was a very gracious host. I was offered to use anything I needed in the kitchen, make myself coffee, listen to his records, adjust the ac, etc. The bedroom was clean and neat when I arrived and there were little touches like travel size toiletries, extras towels and even a blowdryer waiting for me in the bathroom--awesome. With that said, I had my own bedroom (really comfortable bed) with a tv, internet access, dresser, closet, beautiful sunlight through windows that surrounded the room and my very own bathroom that was through my bedroom. I came and went as I pleased and was always happily welcomed by his two sweet little dogs. Also, the house is right by a big park which is great for taking walks or working out and about a 5 minute walk to South Congress St. where it's easy to catch a bus downtown or just hang out and shop/eat on that main drag.
I would have no qualms about staying here again and highly recommend it to others.
