Kotor is one of the best preserved medieval old towns in the Adriatic very close to Dubrovnik and is a UNESCO world heritage site. The bay is the deepest natural fjord in the Mediterranean Sea, and the scenery around it (including the steep mountains which come almost to the waterfront) is spectacular. It is home to numerous sights, such as the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon in the old town (built in 1166), and the ancient walls which stretch for 4.5 km (3 mi) directly above the city. Sveti Đorđe and Gospa od Škrpijela islets off the coast of Perast are also among the more popular destinations in the vicinity of Kotor.
In recent years, Kotor has seen a steady increase in tourists, many of them coming by cruise ship. Visitors are attracted both by the natural beauty of the Gulf of Kotor and by the old town of Kotor. Kotor represents Montenegrin most richest town with cultural and historical monuments, old buildings, churches, monesteries and other important and old places and buildings.
Pets and smokers accepted.
On arrival, you can take the key between 1pm and 10pm (13h00 - 22h00).
When leaving, you should bring the key back at 11am. You can keep your luggage in the apartment until 1pm, though, while the cleaning lady is there.
Great location at back of Kotor old town with views over roof tops and of mountains surrounding Bay of Kotor from outdoor area.
Spacious and clean apartment with effective aircon (essential in July!) and small kitchenette area with fridge (again essential in July!).
Did experience some noise from bars in old town into early hours, and once you shut windows you could hardly hear music. Was still a lot quieter than most areas of the town.
Excellent prompt and helpful communications pre-trip, effective meet up with host in Kotor old town to be taken to apartment on arrival and were able to easily organise early check out due to early morning flight by texting contact details provided while we were in Kotor.
Lots to see in old town, we were still finding new areas, bars & restaurants after 4 days! Recommend walking up fortifications for view over old town & Bay of Kotor, but set off in the morning before the sun gets too strong, there are 1500 steps to the top!
Kotor is a great base to explore this area of Montenegro, we took a boat trip to our lady of the rocks church and Perast, and booked a private driver for a day to take us further afield including Lovcen National Park, Cetinje, Njegos mausoleum, Sveti Stefan and Budva.
We flew into Tivat airport and got taxi from airport for 15 euros. So easy to get to without a car. 10min walk to square where you are met and another 5 mins to apartment so very quick. Few steep steps up to front of apartment.
Would definately recommend a trip to Montenegro and Kotor and staying in this apartment added to our experience. Thank you Arthur :-)
We stayed here for 3 nights midweek (Tue-Fri) and can say that the old town is quieter in terms of club noise on Tues and Wed, but on Thurs it will be loud, so bring earplugs. The neighbors upstairs are very nice (little English) but you can hear their footsteps in the morning (6am). If you are anything but a heavy sleeper than you'll def need earplugs for this and the church bells!
Apart from the noise, the apt was great. It has a nice terrace with a great view. We washed some clothes and hung them out to dry on the clothesline, which was very convenient. Kitchen had what we needed. Bed was comfortable.
There is no entertainment in the apt, so no TV, games, or wifi, which was a little disappointing. There is free wifi at all of the cafés, but none of the signals reach the apt. Bathroom was also fine with good shower pressure.
Apt does have a bit of a mold smell which we couldn't get out even by opening windows. We got used to it after a while.
There are a good amt of stairs to climb to reach the apt and some steps are a bit narrow. Check in and check our were both smooth and prompt.
Overall we were happy we stayed here and would stay here again.
We had a wonderful time in Kotor. Such a wonderful place! And Arthur's apartment was perfect. Spacious and the terrace is so peaceful. Very clean as well. He was easy to communicate with and was very accommodating when we arrived much later than expected. Wish we had more time in his lovely apartment and in this wonderful town.
Appartement charmant, propre, bien équipé, et situé en plein centre ville historique. Le coin table du jardin est très appréciable! Le seul désagrément a été la présence d'insectes à plusieurs reprises (colonie de fourmis ailées et mille pattes)!
Not only is this a lovely place, but Arthur and the people he had pick us up from the airport and show us into the place saved us in a dire dental situation. The apartment is quiet, nestled on the back hill right in the old town, has a lovely terrace and everything you would need for a great stay in kotor. Highly, highly recommended, especially for the people!
Great apartment located right at the back of Kotor's old town. One proper bedroom (with cool raised double bed), single bed and pull out double in the living / dining room. Nice (but rocky) private garden with views of the old town. Picking up keys was super easy, we were 30mins late, but the lady even waited while we had some food before the restaurant shut. Would highly recommend.
