The Space

Looking for a great place to relax in busy Amsterdam?
Especially if you're looking for snuggling on a super big sofa, relax in a hammock or take a walk in the park; this is the place to be :)

My apartment is ideal: situated in a beautiful, calm area in the fancy south part of Amsterdam, it's a true oasis surrounded by trees.

Amsterdam is a lovely city but the centre can be too crowded and packed with tourists... If you want to be close to that but not in the middle of it, you'll find it here.

Situated only 2 blocks from Amsterdam's best and most central park; Vondelpark. I've got quite some picnic equipment which you can use for a nice picnic at the park.
If you walk through the park, you'll end up at Leidsplein, the main square (close to where the museums are) and walking distance to Art Zuid.

There's lots of public transport day and night (direct bus to the airport every 15 mins, takes you 20 mins and to the city center by tram or bus, 5 mins).

My street is calm but supermarkts, bars, shops and restaurants are all right around the corner.

I provide a book about Amsterdam with guides and flyers about where to go and there are games and cards you can use.

If you are already planning your next trip, I've got a lot of travel books you can have a look at.

Coffee and tea are free to take and you can use my kitchen utensils as well as spices, herbs etc. Also I provide soap and shampoo.

My place is ideal for couples who want to stay in a safe, clean, spacious and light apartment in a quiet neighborhood but still want to be close to the center.

Check in and out times are open for discussion.

My apartment is on the 3rd floor (no elevator, 2 stairs)
Smoking is only allowed on the balcony. No drugs.

I rent out my apartment when I'm abroad for work, which is quite often BUT I only get my schedule 5 weeks ahead so I can't accept rentals further away then that date but you can mail me and I let you know as soon as I have my schedule..

All prices include use of: clean linen, towels, washingpowder, toilet paper, wifi internet, dvd player, dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster, blender, nespresso coffeemaker, oven, watercooker, washing machine and dryer.

I love hosting people and give information if needed and I'm sure you will feel at home and find everything you need, and if not, just let me know.

A very helpful website is I (website hidden) also for parking possibilities..

The Neighborhood

My street is one where a lot of families live and there are a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. I live very close to Vondelpark, cities most famous park.

Getting around

There are buses and trams to the airport and all around the city nearby

Other Things to Note

There is WIFI but unfortunately the connection is not always so fast, but there is always connection ;)

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Rachel's apartment for 2 months and absolutely loved everything about it.

The apartment itself felt much bigger than it actually is because of the high ceilings and large windows that let in a lot of natural light.
The apartment had a well stocked kitchen which allowed us to cook from home a lot. There are two grocery stores within a quick walk and many great restaurants in the area. My girlfriend also became quite the espresso drinker as we both loved the Nespresso machine in the kitchen!
Oh and the couch in the living room..wow

It is not located directly in the 9 streets area but there are two trams and numerous busses that can get you to the heart of Amsterdam in 5-10 minutes. We also purchased a bike during our stay and biking through the city is the way to go.
It is a quick walk to the Museumplein which a great benefit for those looking to see the Van Hogh and Rjiks museum.
You are very close to Vondelpark which is great for a run, bike, or just relaxing in.
Even though it is outside of the 9 streets it was perfect for us. We actually enjoyed being in a more residential neighborhood as it felt more like a home.

Our 2 months in Amsterdam would not have been as great if it wasn't for Rachel's apartment. We both said how easy the transition was from our lives in LA to Amsterdam and we can truly say it was because Rachel's apartment felt like home the minute we arrived.

  • We had a wonderful holiday in Amsterdam and loved staying in this apartment. The location was great, nice and quiet, yet with lovely cafes and restaurants nearby. It is situated a casual stroll away from the musuem district and a short tram ride to the busy tourist regions. The apartment itself has loads of character with all of the modern conveniences. Would happily stay at his apartment again. Highly recommended!

  • Rachel’s apartment is comfortable and pleasant to be in, it’s bright and spacious and has a positive ambiance. It is quiet, and the bed is comfortable. The neighbourhood is nice and feels safe. My stay was almost 6 weeks and I enjoyed my time there.
I did have some issues while there, and Rachel was responsive to them even though she was travelling. However one issue that was not resolved was that the Wi-Fi availability and signal strength were inconsistent. Since I was there for a long-term stay this was important for me. For my long-term stay I would have liked a better-equipped kitchen as well, but it’s fine for a short-term stay.
Rachel is warm and friendly, and easy to communicate with. I felt welcome and appreciated as a guest. I like the fact that she asked if I had any suggestions for improvements, which I did, and she reacted to my feedback positively, saying that she would take action on the items I mentioned.

  • Staying at Urban Oasis was the perfect time in Amsterdam! The place is really outstanding, it is very bright, spacious and cozy. After all I can warning you just about one thing — be careful, you might feel yourself at home at this apartment more than everywhere! Thank you Rachel!

  • AWESOME FLAT! It's exactly how it looks in the pictures, but there is now a hammock in front of the french doors in the dining room. The couch is very comfortable, and big enough for a couple to sleep on. The bedroom and bathroom were both clean, with fresh sheets and towels. Rachel made sure we were able to get into the apartment as soon as we arrived in Amsterdam and her brother, who lives downstairs, greeted us and invited us for drinks at his restaurant around the corner. Rachel left a book of maps and brochures sitting out so we were able to arrive with no plans and cover a lot of ground. Her apartment is in a beautiful neighborhood, it was calm and quiet, but in walking distance to lots of cafes, restaurants, bars, markets, boutiques, parks, museums, etc. Plus the bus and tram stops are right around the corner, as well as a bike rental.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Urban Oasis! This apartment is spacious and yet cozy. The sofa is AMAZING and my husband spent hours in the hammock! The 2 large french doors are great for letting in tons of light as well as a fantastic cross breeze when it's warm outside. The area is lively but the street is private and quiet. If you would like a home away from home with super convenient access to grocery stores, public transport and the true experience of living in Amsterdam I absolutely recommend Urban Oasis. Your host, Rachel is warm, responsive and lovely to work with. We were fortunate to be able to meet her during our stay. Thanks for a great week, Rachel!

  • I had a wonderful staying at urban oasis. It's a lovely appartment close to the Vondelpark & Art Zuid.
Nice walk through the park to go to Leidesplein
Despite we experienced the changing weather of Amsterdam we had a cosy gigantic sofa to relax!
Thank you Rachel for your welcome.
To all, if you need a place to stay in Amsterdam, Urban Oasis is definetly where you must go

  • We fell in love with the pictures of the apartment and once we arrived there we found it to be everything we expected it to be and more. Its a beautifully designed apartment with big windows that are covered in tall trees. We really enjoyed staying here, it had everything possibly needed for our stay in Amsterdam. The balcony was beautiful and you felt in touch with nature, as the trees were completely surrounding you. We also found a chic restaurant right round the corner, the food here was incredible. The apartment is 5 minutes away from most museums and 15 minutes or less on tram to Amsterdam City Center. Rachel was very helpful and even though she was away she made sure we had everything we needed. I have no complaints about this beautiful Urban Oasis and I would recommend it to any one who wants to explore Amsterdam but also get a good night sleep.

  • I cannot express how much we enjoyed staying at Urban Oasis. The apartment is clean and beautiful, and the myriad of windows is a definite plus. The location is convenient for those looking to bum around Amsterdam, and there is a great thai place right down the road. The hostess was nothing but nice and gracious, I literally have no complaints about a single aspect of our stay here. If you have any reservations about booking Urban Oasis, leave them behind - it's fantastic.
