I'm a PhD student busily writing my dissertation and teaching. I'm looking for visitors with good recommendations or verified identities to stay in my place during university holidays. On other dates I'm happy to host calm, friendly travelers in my extra bedroom (I have my own room).
Upcoming Holidays (whole apartment to yourself):
*Any 3-day weekend
This disco-tastic 2 bedroom apartment (complete with mirrored walls motorized disco ball) is in Greenpoint, a land where cheap pierogies and beer flow like wine. This apartment is in a quiet residential neighborhood across from a park, a few blocks from the Williamsburg scene. Be sure to take a photo of the NYC skyline from the roof.
Includes use of 1 private bedroom w/full-sized real bed, kitchen, bathroom, living room, all electronics and appliances (minus my computer), Wi-Fi. The guest bedroom + living room have air conditioners. You can take a couple of folding chairs to the roof for a sunset cocktail. I'll provide sheets, towels, soap, etc. I have the basic American breakfast foods on hand (i.e. eggs, coffee, bread, oatmeal, etc.) but if you are an early-riser (or late), you'll have to make it yourself.
I'm happy to give you recommendations. I'm quite enthusiastic about Brooklyn.
No extra charge for a 2nd person staying in the same bedroom --I actually prefer it so I don't worry about you being lonely. However if 3 or 4 people want to stay here, *if* you give me enough notice, I may plan to go to the beach so you can have the entire apartment. In this case, the living room has a sofa and futon mattress, my room has an Ikea futon for 1 person.
Flexible check-in /check-out time. I teach at a university so my schedule is erratic, so we should work out a check-in time *before* you reserve.
**Please send a message before making a reservation to make sure we can work out an acceptable arrangement.
Kitchen (and all appliances)
Livingroom( tv netflix etc.)
I imagine you as a roommate or fellow travelers I met while backpacking. I'm completely happy to leave you alone, but love giving tours of the neighborhood as I am very enthusiastic about Greenpoint/Williamsburg and I don't mind cooking if our schedules happen to coincide. However, if I have a big deadline I may have to hole up in the library and eat ramen noodles for a few days and I will merely be a ghostly presence.
Greenpoint/Williamsburg is great. We've got live music, art scene, bars, dining, shopping... I actually see no reason to go to Manhattan.
I'm on McGolrick park so map it!
Stumbling distance to hip Williamsburg bar scene, but far enough from the noise to sleep at night!
2 blocks from Warsaw for live music
8 min late-night cab ride to the Lower East Side
50 min walk across the Williamsburg Bridge to Manhattan
14 min speed walk to the Bedford L train (Driggs & 7th) (1 stop to Manhattan); 10 min to Graham Ave L train; 10 min to Nassau G train (connects to L, E, and goes to Park Slope)
A variety of buses 1 block away go to different parts of Brooklyn, LIC, or to L, JMZ, G trains.
There's now a Ferry to Manhattan, which I've never taken, but looks like fun in summer.
I'll give you the number of local car services that will pick you up in literally 5 minutes.
This is a 4th floor walk up.
Pilar's apartment is in the best little neighborhood! So close to stores, restaurant's and bars. The subway is super close also; from front door to Manhattan maybe 20 mins. Pilar is so sweet and easy to get along with! She will give recommendations for places to see and ways to get around the city. I would definitely stay with her again! Bonus is her rooftop with an amazing view of the city!
Pilar was a very welcoming host. She made us feel at home and was very helpful with anything we needed. She took me on a tour of Greenpoint, pointing out good places to eat, subways etc. The apartment is an easy walk to great eateries, parks and shopping. I would recommend Pilars place if you want to stay in the best spot in Brooklyn.
Pilar was a great hostess! So easy going and laid back. She had everything we needed and was very helpful when we needed directions and information about the city. It is in a nice area near the park too. :-)
Lovely hosting - breakfast, hot shower, and wifi were always available, and kind offers of social activities during my week's stay.
Pilar was a great host, and took us in on short notice. She even took us to eat in the pouring rain at 10pm! Great host, very interesting to talk to, and comfortable apartment. Thanks for making our NYC trip great!
Pilar was a great and very generous host. Great location. Had the place to myself most of the time.
Pilar was a wonderful host, very helpful and welcoming, even going so far as to pick us up from the airport. She was a quick communicator. (Pilar left for the holidays so we had the place for ourselves.) The apartment was a little bit messy but very cozy, and its location in Greenpoint was great. A lot of great breakfast places around, subway not too far away.
Pilar was great, she was very welcoming and accommodating. The location was perfect for what we had planned for the weekend and the price was great. I would highly recommend Pilar if you are visiting Brooklyn.
Pilar was a fantastic host, very helpful and welcoming.
