About this listing
Located in the paradise island of Gili Meno, maoMeno is a place for relaxation, Yoga, art and any Life affirming activities. Whether you want to rent a family house with kitchen, just a simple island hut, organize an event or join us for daily yoga classes, maoMeno provides all this.
The TERRACE BUNGALOW has a stunning sunset view over the green fields. Its traditional Lombok "Sasak style" construction has high ceilings and 100% wood. Special features including a recycled teak Balinese bed frame and a semi open attached bathroom make this bungalow unique. We invite you to shower under a rain of stars, one of the pleasures of island life.
As we have to ship our fresh water from the neighboring Island of Lombok during the dry season, it is available for showering at an extra cost of 2 euros per person/night. Otherwise, guests can enjoy the therapeutic properties of our semi-salted water. Breakfast is available at an additional cost of 3 euros per person/night. Otherwise we can provide an "a la carte" menu in our juice bar.
Our guest services (email hidden) (raw food options and traditional indonesian dishes), daily yoga classes, internet access, bicycles, snorkeling equipment, local fishing boat for rent and more...
There are no special rules in maoMeno, other than a mutual respect for each other. This includes our beautiful, unspoiled surrounding nature.
Kike's place was so quaint and beautiful! Everything was neat and tidy and Lucia made excellent beach and restaurant recommendations! If you get lost just ask for Kike by name. He wasn't kidding when he said the whole island knows him!
Amazing! The experience in Gili Meno was incredible and a great part of it was because of the great place Kike has put together. He wasn't there but we met Lucia who explained everything we needed to know about the island.
We had 5 nice nights in the small garden bungalow in MaoMeno. The resort is in the middle of the island's south so each coast of the smallest Gili island can be reached in 5 mins walk.
There are Yoga lessons everyday, though we didnt join one. It is very quite, especially in the night, because there is no motorized traffic on the whole island.
The bathroom is outside which made this location very special to us. The walls of the bungalow is not totally closed so insects have to be considered around the bedroom.
On the whole island there are hardly any streetlights so for reaching the spot at night you have to carry a good torch (or smartphone with light ;)).
We visited MaoMeno during Ramadan so we can not give an opinion to the breakfast (no staff in the kitchen) - but we can recommend the cafes on the beach which have a very good one :)
All in all we had a nice and relaxing time there :)
Had a fantastic time at MaoMeno. Very friendly & relaxed environment and perfect if you want to do some yoga as well. It is a little tucked away, so if you are not adventurous enough to walk 10 minutes through the Gili Meno's "jungle" this is not for you. However I found that it's part of its charm as you aren't bothered by many people. Would definitely stay there again, and regretting I didn't stay there longer.
Meomeno Resort is a special accommodation but lovely to be there. Like and Lucy are really nice people. If we travel again to gili meno we will come back.
Unfortunately neither my friend nor I would recommend this stay. Firstly, we suffered various problems with it's location - getting there on arrival or going to and from the place was a nightmare. 1) the directions were appalling; advising 'ask for kike' is just not good enough. We ended up trekking with full packs in midday sun trying to find the place. 2) it was off two winding beaten narrow tracks through woodland and fields that were not accessible by horse and cart. 3) pitch black. Thank goodness for iTorches. 4) the paths then flooded. 5) because of these things, it was more than a 10m walk from the main patch - and we are fast walkers...
The Host, Mona was really lovely, welcoming, informative and kind.
The hut itself was ok but the al fresco bathroom facilities left a bad smell suggesting that the drainage is very basic. Equally, there were no locks on the doors which left us feeling a little uneasy.
We could gauge what was trying to be achieved with this resort without affecting the surrounding tranquility of Meno but Unfortunately the place seems more In 'Development' stage and even then, lacked basic things that massively improve the guest fest experience - like locks on the doors, basic lighting and a sign to it's whereabouts.
Maomeno was beautiful! We had a lovely lovely time, very quiet, very chilled, nice people around, good breakfast, very cool bungalows. The yoga classes were a highlight! Thank you so much :) Very recommended.

About the Host, Kike
Hi, my name is Kike, I was born in Spain. Lived part of my childhood in Morrocco, which certainly inspired me to look further on through the different paths in Life.
My girlfriend and me are currently living in Gili Meno, a paradise island, just one and a half hours from Bali (Indonesia). We have built a spacious village resort, specialized in yoga retreats and other life-celebrating activities,.
Before starting to build this place (2 years ago) I had the opportunity to travel around this beautiful world. To name some, Santa Teresa (Brasil), Byron Bay (Australia), Essaouria (Morrocco), Raja Empat (Indonesia)....Gili Meno...great places!
