About this listing
Enjoy the most beautiful harbour city in the world from the luxury of your own private yacht! No boat licence or boat experience required and it's your choice to stay near a centrally located marina or in a quiet bay with a view of the Opera House.
HOW IT WORKS
At the beginning of your stay we’ll meet you at a marina in Rushcutters Bay – ten minutes from the city centre and half an hour from the airport - and take you out in a small boat (a “tender”) to the yacht. We’ll show you how everything works, we’ll give you a safety briefing, and then we’ll leave you alone on the yacht to enjoy being on the harbour. You don’t need any boating experience and you don’t need a licence. The yacht is in “commercial survey” which means it’s certified by the authorities and is completely safe. If you choose, we’d also be delighted to take you on a two hour cruise of Sydney Harbour.
You have a choice of two places for the yacht to be located:
Elizabeth Bay is close to the cosmopolitan restaurants and shops of Potts Point and Kings Cross. From here there's a train service to take you into the city centre and Opera House (one stop) or else it's a pleasant walk through the Botanic Gardens. The yacht will be at anchor and, for a small charge (see OPTIONAL EXTRAS below), a boat service will take you to and from the shore whenever you like.
If you'd like to see the whole of Sydney laid out in front of you, complete with the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge we'll take you to a quiet bay next to Taronga Zoo - take a look at some of the photos on this listing to see how spectacular it is! The bay is fabulous for swimming in and there’s even a nearby beach. There's a small additional charge for this option (see OPTIONAL EXTRAS below).
Please bear in mind that this is a yacht, not an apartment! If you're after experiencing Sydney in a wonderfully different way then please go ahead and make a booking enquiry or booking request, but if you're simply after accommodation do bear in mind that staying on a boat is not going to be as convenient as staying on dry land. The yacht is best suited for one-night stays but some people do choose to spend two nights. More than two nights isn't recommended because by that time the inconvenience of not being on dry land begins to outweigh the wonderfulness of being on the water! We recommend that while the yacht can sleep 6, the yacht is most suitable for groups of up to 4 people. Please limit your luggage to one soft bag per person. Suitcases are not allowed on board (they damage the woodwork) but, with prior arrangement, I can store them for you.
PRIVATE HARBOUR CRUISE
We’d be delighted to take you on a two hour private cruise on Sydney Harbour. We’ll motor or sail past Fort Denison, Admiralty and Kirribilli Houses, under the Harbour Bridge and into Darling Harbour, past Walsh Bay, Circular Quay and the Opera House into Farm Cove, then on to see Australia’s most exclusive homes in Darling Point, Double Bay, Point Piper and Rose Bay, then we’ll sail or motor off down the harbour towards Watsons Bay and Manly. Or else just let the skipper know where you’d like to go and what you’d like to see – after all, this is a private cruise! We can also arrange to drop you in town – at the Sydney Opera House or elsewhere – and pick you up later. (See OPTIONAL EXTRAS below).
If you'd like to do a Harbour Cruise without staying overnight on the yacht please do get in touch (you can use the "contact host" link). A 2 hour mid week cruise (without staying overnight) is $300, three hours is $400. For cruises on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays (without staying overnight) it's $400 for two hours and $500 for three hours.
WHAT’S ON BOARD THE YACHT
“Europa” is 46 feet (14 metres) of exquisite, European-built quality and luxury. She has 3-cabins (3 double beds), two bathrooms complete with luxurious whisper-quiet electric flush toilets, a luxurious saloon with wifi, a top-notch stereo, and a DVD player.
The kitchen (galley) has a two burner stove and oven, a fridge, double sink, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, glasses and mugs. We’ll leave some milk in the fridge, salt, pepper, cooking oil, washing-up supplies, tea and coffee and a welcome basket of biscuits and chips.
The cabins are made up with freshly ironed sheets and pillow cases, pillows, doona (duvet), blankets, face cloths and fluffy towels.
Up on deck there's very roomy seating and lounging space for six, a fold-out teak table, and a sun awning to keep out the midday sun. The back of the boat (the transom) folds down to form a swimming platform and there's even a hot shower on deck (as well as the two showers in the bathrooms downstairs - but please be aware that hot water is limited on the yacht!)
While the yacht is luxurious, it is a yacht, not a house! Space is, of course, limited and it's a bit like "glamping" (glamorous camping) - i.e. it's very indulgent, very comfortable, a little adventurous, and very different from being in an apartment or hotel room! Please do take note of the house rules – and please especially take note that in order to protect the yacht from damage, hard luggage is not allowed on board.
CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT TIMES
Check-in time is normally after 4pm and check-out is normally before 10am – however, if there isn’t a booking on either side of your stay the check-in and check-out times can be as early or as late as you like. If you’d like to take a chance on the yacht being available for your early arrival or late departure then there’s no additional cost - if the yacht is available, you're welcome to check in or check out as early/late as you like - but if you’d like to guarantee that the yacht is available for your early arrival or late departure there's a small additional charge (see OPTIONAL EXTRAS below).

Interaction with Guests
I will be available by phone and email throughout the stay to ensure your comfort and safety, and to answer the myriad questions about living on board a yacht!
Sydney Harbour is the most stunning place on earth. OK.. maybe a slight exaggeration, but it's certainly up there with the best!
If you've chosen the ELIZABETH BAY option you'll be a couple of minutes walk to the shops and restaurants of Potts Point and only half an hour's walk to the Opera House and the centre of the city. There are also plenty of buses and trains to take you into town.
If you've chosen the TARONGA ZOO option you'll have the whole city skyline laid out in front of you and you'll be less than 100m from a sheltered, sandy beach (you can swim ashore or you'll need to have hired the dinghy). A two minute walk from there and you're at the ferry wharf where there are hourly ferries to whisk you across the harbour to Circular Quay, the centre of town and the Opera House.
If you've chosen the ELIZABETH BAY option there is a boat service to take you to and from the shore where it's a half hour walk into the centre of the city (and there are plenty of buses and trains). See OPTIONAL EXTRAS for the cost of the boat service.
A dinghy and outboard may also be made available to you to get to and from the shore - please enquire.
Other Things to Note
The wifi is by mobile (cell) 4G and is suitable only for emails and web browsing with a maximum of 100MB download or upload per day. Use greater than 1GB per day will be charged at $25 per 100MB or part thereof.
We'll chat about what time you'd like to arrive and I'll make sure I'm available to meet you and welcome you aboard. But I do ask, please, if you're running late (or early!) do let me know so I can change my plans. Your time is valuable and, if you haven't let me know you're running late and I'm not able to be (email hidden)-scheduled time, I don't want to keep you waiting around.
If you're arriving by plane it's useful to let me know your flight number so I can track any delays.
• Please... NO SUITCASES or eskies (cooler boxes) - they cause severe damage to the Burmese teak woodwork. Please bring soft bags only (and please remember that this is a boat so unless there are just two or three of you staying there won't be a great deal of room for lots of luggage). If you're traveling with suitcases you'll need to bring soft bags and transfer what you need from your suitcases into the bags. I can arrange storage of your suitcases - but only with prior notice. Please note that if you turn up with suitcases without having made arrangements to store them on land you may not be able to board the yacht.

My family and I went ahead with our stay on the Europa despite a less than wonderful weather forecast. David was a welcoming and thoughtful host and being on the Harbour at sunset was spectacular. To ensure our comfort for the night, David recommended a more sheltered mooring, a recommendation we were grateful when there was a hailstorm later that evening. David texted to make sure we OK and we were. It was very cozy on the yacht and we all got a great night's sleep. Thank you David for the memorable adventure!
My four friends and I only catch up once every two or three years and the weekend on the water added a completely new dimension, and it was largely stress free and an extremely refreshing way to experience the inner city suburbs of Sydney. We had a great cruise to Manly, even managed a swim at Spring Cove on a warm winter's day. the sail back to Elizabeth Bay was the highlight and the best way to get an understanding of the beauty of the best harbour in the world. The only challenge was heading to shore on the tender to get our meals as we didn't bring much food but I would recommend an excellent Malaysian on Double Bay and The Lord Dudley Hotel in Paddington. David was extremely accommodating and flexible in making the cruise arrangements.
We had a fantastic time on David's yacht - it was in immaculate condition and had everything we needed for a very comfortable and supremely relaxing evening. The overnight stay was a real adventure both for us and our 4 year old daughter. David was a wonderful host and we thoroughly enjoyed the harbour cruise! Would totally recommend this experience!
Our holidays on the Yacht was perfect ! The boat is confortable and spacious. And David, the owner and the skipper is fantastic, we appreciated his availability and kindness. I strongly recommend to plan the cruise in the bay, whaaoooo. Thanks again David
We had a fantastic time on board David's boat it's beautiful and what an amazing way to experience Sydney the boat is well equipped and comfortable we stayed onboard with my family and everyone had a great time. David was a fantastic host who really accommodated our needs and was so helpful with all our requests questions etc. he Taylor made our trip to suit our requirements and really made the whole weekend truly memorable for us all. We had a wonderful time , highly recommended and been telling everyone about the great experience.
Worth doing the harbour cruise and mooring at Taronga, to wake up to Sydney City view was magical ! Thank you David .
Our getaway on David's Yacht was perfect! If you are looking for something unique look no further. My partner and I went during the winter months in Sydney when the harbour is a little quieter. This gave us the chance to feel like we were the 'only ones' witnessing the magical view of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera house. Sitting on the deck of the boat watching the sunset will be the envy of all your friends.
The boat is very functional. We were able to warm pizzas in the oven for dinner and have a delicious breakfast on the water the next morning.
David was very helpful in the lead up to and on the day of our stay.
We can't wait to go back in Summer! Thanks David!
Unfortunately we were unable to stay on David's yacht because of extenuating circumstances. Although, David's communication and thoroughness have been wonderful.
