The Space

We look forward to welcoming you!

The Neighborhood:

Our neighborhood is residential, green and safe. Being very close to the Hudson River that separates it from Manhattan makes this a top location to enjoy Manhattan’s breathtaking skyline, day or night.

Our Place:

This is a huge light-filled 3 bedroom 2 .5 bathroom 1600 sq feet apartment in Union City, NJ. It is 15 min bus ride to Midtown near Times Square via the Lincoln Tunnel. As surprising as it may seem, this place is closer to Manhattan than other places located in Upper Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx.

Our apartment is a few blocks away the bus station which is serviced 24/7 to Port Authority Bus terminal in Manhattan, right next to Times Square (Read further down for more details about transportation).

This spacious private flat is comfortable and quiet - it has a two queen beds and two single beds, each room with large closet with hangers and night tables. We provide bed linens and towels, but not maid service.

You'll have two full bathrooms and one powder room. No waiting for the bathroom!

You don't have to bring bed linens, towels or a hair dryer, we will provide you with fluffy clean towels and all you need to feel comfortable and at home!

The house is equipped with central heat and air conditioning. High speed wireless internet, and other convenient things like iron, city guides, maps, etc. are provided.

Feel free to message me if you need any further details.

This private flat has beds for six people, and there is also a fold down futon. In addition, we can provide you with a double airmattress for an additional 2 people for a total of 10 sleeping spaces.

This flat/apartment is completely private for your group, not shared with any other travellers.
About Transportation: I have received many questions from people who don't believe it possible to be outside of Manhattan and so close to it, yet it's true. Here are some facts about transportation:

1. Apartment is 5 minutes (5 blocks) from the 24/7 bus to Times Square and 1 block from the city bus (stops at 1am).
2. The bus is very frequent, I rarely wait for it more than 2 to 3 minutes. Most of the time you won't even wait at all. You will step to the bus stop and a bus will be there.
3. Buses are available 24/7 so you can catch them even when you spend the whole evening out.
4-The price of these express buses is $3 onboard, and $2.50 if you buy tickets at ticket window #23 at Port Authority Bus Terminal
5. You won't find these buses timetable or route on the internet, it's a private bus company that runs many lines in and out of Manhattan

Other info:
* We provide basic breakfast food items and you can prepare your own breakfast. Please carefully wash, dry and put away your dishes. Lots of restaurants, cafes and grocery stores near us in case you want to start your day with a more substantial meal.

* Minimum stay 3 nights

Many ask about the price and extra fees and how to pay. When you put in the dates and number of people you will get our total cost. There are no taxes on top of this, but AirBnB adds their fee. It varies between 6-12% on top of our price.

All the payments are safely made with credit card to AirBnB when booking. They hold the money until the day you check in and will then transfer it to us.

Bookings with us are done with the "strict" cancellation policy and all cancellations should be done through AirBnB. This being said, if we manage to re-rent the place the nights you have canceled we can give a bigger refund to you than what the strict cancellation policy dictates. The earlier you cancel the bigger the chance that we will find other guests.

DEPOSIT is for keys and will be refunded by AirBnb once keys are returned.

To confirm that you have read the entire description, please include the secret word "guggenheim" in your inquiry to me.

Please note that 11am check out strictly enforced - we must be here to collect your keys to ensure prompt return of your deposit money.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • The appartment is exactly as described, Maria and Jay were wonderful hosts. Everything was clean and very well mantained. Communication was fluid and fast. The only thing you need to know is that in rush hours trip to Times Square could take a bit longer than 15 minutes. We had times in which it took less than 15 and some other times it was up to 30. As Maria and Jay said, the bus is always there, we never had to wait for it. Another great thing is that the appartment is just 20 minutes from Jersey Gardens, an incredible outlet shopping. Take the 111 bus, you can (website hidden) its schedule. Take a large bag because you'll buy a lot. Or do like we did and buy a Samsonite large luggage at the shopping for $150. Congrats to Maria and Jay, the appartment is excellent!

  • The apartment is just as we saw online, beautifully decorated and perfectly equipt with high quality. Jay picked me up at the airport though it was very late in the mid night due to airline delay. Thank you very much and I appreciated Maria's correspondence before our arrival. The couple is very friendly, generous and thoughtful. The location is very good, a short walk takes us from the apartment to the buss station and after a short ride of about max15 min. we are right at Time Square. Highly recommended!

  • We have stayed in vacation rentals all over the world (Belgium, Czech Republic, Iceland, Austria, Hungary, California, Colorado). And while almost all of our experiences have been positive, Maria was the best host we have ever encountered. The apartment was VERY clean, communication was excellent, hospitality was well above our expectations, and after having some of our own travel problems, Maria jumped in and was understanding and accommodating. We certainly know where we will stay the next time we are in the New York area. The location was perfect for us! The bus ride to Times Square is so easy and quick (15 minutes tops) and since we flew into and out of Newark that was also very convenient (not to mention the great transportation to and from the airport - Thanks Jay!). Once again the apartment was perfect and the photos don't even do it justice. You cannot go wrong by staying here!

  • The apartment was fabulous, far exceeding our expectations. It was a great place for our family of 4 to spread out and relax after a busy day. Clean/safe/comfortable/quiet/easy access to NYC. Jay and Maria's tips were valuable additions to our holiday. Thanks for everything!

  • We booked this apartment for a group booking for a team running a conference in central New York. It could not have been better!

The apartment is bigger than in the pictures with space to work as well as relax. It was private enough for a team of people to have their own space. The location for us was perfect! The bus took us in in 20 min and dropped us at the door of the conference venue (New York Times Building).

This is a fabulous apartment in a great location! Highly recommended and would be suitable for corporate teams to family groups.

Maria and her husband were also just fantastic. They are flexible, happy and just wonderful people. You will not be disappointed booking this place or any of Maria's apartments.

  • Maria was a wonderful host and made our first visit to New York happy and memorable. She made us feel so welcome. The house was perfect for a family of five with plenty of room (and 3 bathrooms) and was comfortable and immaculately clean. We were initially hesitant about staying across the Hudson in Union City but it turned out to be incredibly convenient - the 'chicken buses' were always there when we wanted them and had us in Manhattan in no time at all. We'd definitely recommend Maria as a host.

  • As this was the first time I used the airbnb service and also our first time visiting the USA, we were worried and skeptical that you pay for something that does not exist. What a relief when we arrived and everything was as advertised. Thank you for all your assistance and guidance Maria! We had the best time ever and New York is simply amazing!! I would highly recommend this accommodation, and things are a lot more affordable in NJ compared to NY. Go and book your holiday - you wont regret it. Greetings, Kenny from South Africa.

  • Maria was an amazing host! When we got there, Maria came and greeted us, and told us all the ins and outs. If only we were there a little bit longer, we could have checked off all the places she suggested. The apartment was AMAZING, and fit us perfectly. Very clean, the neighborhood was nice, and a lot of convenient places to walk to (Walgreens, Stores, Restaurants, View of Manhattan). The best part was the 24 hour ‘chicken bus’ that costs $3, which picks you up a couple blocks away from the apartment, and takes you straight to New York City in 20 minutes! We definitely took advantage of that. Saves you from worrying about gas, parking, and fee to go through the Lincoln Tunnel. If you are looking to take a trip to New York City, I highly recommend staying here: it’s affordable, comfortable, clean and a chicken bus ride away from the city! Thanks again Maria & Jay.

  • SUPER!
Thank you, Maria, for letting us stay at your place! The apartment was great, thanks for your help in planning, shopping, full fridge etc, so friendly and welcoming!
    We had a great time!

  • Maria is a fantastic host who pays attention to the smallest detail to make your stay comfortable and perfect. Her place was very clean, spacious and well stocked that made our stay and trip perfect. Close to all amenities and very well connected to NYC. There is no chaos in terms of commuting to and from NYC and all the attractions that a tourist would like to visit. Maria and her husband Jay are a wealth of information if you are looking for suggestions on how to cover places that interests you in the big apple. I will stay nowhere else but Maria's when I visit NYC again & will be recommending this place to all my friends. Two thumbs up for the entire experience we had..

We have a number of listings, so please take a look at all of our places for availability. Simply click on the link at the bottom left which says see all listings. Each of our listings has very easy access into Times Square - we are big advocates of our local bus service which we call the "chicken bus". Buses run every 5 min, 24/7 to Times Square. Take a look at our guest reviews to see what travelers say about getting in and out of NYC. We are not agents, my husband, Jay and I take care of guests full time! We are Canadians living in the US, and are well traveled ourselves and know how important a good nights sleep is while you're away. We will make sure that you are comfortable here.
