The Space

Welcome to our tranquil, sunny, sweet spot in the beautiful Eldorado Springs Valley, just minutes south of Boulder. Gorgeous views and nature surround you, from horses in the pasture next door to the local wildlife, such as deer, fox, and owl.

This special place has its own unique character and all the comforts of home. It is private and very quiet at night. You can see the stars.

The 400 square foot abode has a kitchen with a lovely view, a small gas stove/oven, fridge, microwave, and other kitchen essentials. The bedroom has a queen pillow top bed, dresser, cable TV, DVD player, and a large picture window with a beautiful view from the bed. The bathroom is new construction and quite spacious for a small space. A living room area has a comfortable, full size sofa sleeper, and a small desk. Wireless internet access, with a small patio and parking right in front.

We also have another listing on the property, the awesome blacksmith shop. It's a fun, relaxed place to stay.

A fantastic trail system is just minutes away. Enjoy hiking, running, mountain biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, depending on the season. Two miles down the road from here is Eldorado Canyon, which features Eldorado State Park where hiking, world class rock climbing and scenic vistas happen. Also located in the canyon is the Eldorado Springs Pool, a wonderful artesian spring fed pool, so refreshing and fun in the summertime. Downtown Boulder seems a world away, although it is actually a 5-10 minute drive. There are bike paths all the way into town.

We are both artists and our home and studio are on the property. Feel free to come by anytime during your stay to chat and visit. We know a lot about the area and can help with ideas about things to do. We'd love to have you as our guests!

  • Susan is a terrific host. She not only has prepared a terrific house guide, but also has trail maps, local magazines and restaurant menus to help you navigate and enjoy the most of your time in Boulder. The space is well designed and was terrific for two adults. It was very clean, had all the essential cooking supplies (i.e. pots, pans, dishes, olive oil, salt, pepper and who doesn't want peanut butter), easy parking and close access to El Dorado Park along with the city of Boulder.

  • My wife and I stayed at The Abode and loved it. We make an effort to stay at spots that get away from the tourists and this place did it. The space is the perfect for a couple or even 2.Close enough to town to go shopping but not in town.Eldorado Canyon State Park is the back yard. Awesome!

  • The Abode was a wonderful place to stay. It was cozy and comfortable with amazing views from every window. There were a number of small touches that contributed to the overall experience, like the snacks (coffee, granola bars, rice, jam) Susan provided for general use and a book with menus, brochures, etc. for places to eat and things to do in the area. Susan also checked in to see how the stay was going and to ask if I needed anything. I definitely recommend the place to anyone.

    Response from Susan:

Lisa, Thanks for the lovely review and comments.
As far as the internet, I would be happy to help with that. It's best to be near the front of the abode to get wifi (small desk or couch) since the abode is farthest from the router. Next time we'll get it working! :))

  • The Eldorado Abode was a fantastic place to say. So great, in fact, that my wife and I wished that we could have stayed an extra night. The location is wonderful with views of the Flatirons and just a couple miles away from two popular trail heads. There was a folder with brochures about local things to do and recommendations which we found extremely helpful. Coffee, cookies, and granola bars were also provided and appreciated. I would recommend the abode to anyone wanting to stay near Boulder. It was great!

  • Clean, lovely and quiet space, a convenient drive from downtown. We loved the beautiful mountain view and the artsy interior. We were pleased to have some breakfast goodies in the kitchen since we didn't get a chance to shop our first night. Very pleasant stay all around.

I am a self employed artist and have lived in this area since 1991, with my husband, Tom, who is a ceramic artist, teacher, and a musician. We raised our two sons here. I have done a lot of traveling and enjoy meeting people from all over. One of the most memorable experiences of my life was when I lived in Italy for close to a year while I was in college in the early '70's. Part of the time I lived with an Italian family in Tuscany whom I adored. I hope to return there someday. I enjoy being active in the outdoors and at the gym, cooking fun and healthy foods, growing a vegetables and herbs, and many other pursuits. I love to read all kinds of books, including novels, non-fiction and cookbooks. One of my favorite books is The Infinite Plan, by Isabel Allende. We have had visits in our home with many guests from all over through the years, and it has been good times. I have learned to be open to having adventures and being spontaneous. Some of my most memorable times have not involved much planning or expense.
