About this listing
A cozy, colorful spot with everything you need to have a peaceful and relaxing vacation.
Welcome to our tranquil, sunny, sweet spot in the beautiful Eldorado Springs Valley, just minutes south of Boulder. Gorgeous views and nature surround you, from horses in the pasture next door to the local wildlife, such as deer, fox, and owl.
This special place has its own unique character and all the comforts of home. It is private and very quiet at night. You can see the stars.
The 400 square foot abode has a kitchen with a lovely view, a small gas stove/oven, fridge, microwave, and other kitchen essentials. The bedroom has a queen pillow top bed, dresser, cable TV, DVD player, and a large picture window with a beautiful view from the bed. The bathroom is new construction and quite spacious for a small space. A living room area has a comfy couch, a red velvet chair and a small desk. Wireless internet access, with a small patio and parking right in front.
We also have other listings on the property, the Awesome Reinvented Blacksmith Shop (it's in the same building but does not share a wall with the abode), the Eldorado Valley Artist Cabin and the Sunny Eldorado Retreat. It's a fun, relaxed place to stay.
A fantastic trail system is about a half mile away, heading west on Eldorado Springs Drive, which you can drive or walk to. Enjoy hiking, running, mountain biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, depending on the season. Two miles down the road from here is Eldorado Canyon, which features Eldorado State Park where hiking, world class rock climbing and scenic vistas happen. Also located in the canyon is the Eldorado Springs Pool, a wonderful artesian spring fed pool, so refreshing and fun in the summertime. Downtown Boulder seems a world away, although it is actually a 5-10 minute drive. There are bike paths all the way into town.
Food shopping is close; King Soopers has everything and is five minutes away. Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and many other markets are also a short drive. At our intersection, a mile away, is the Eldorado Corner Market which includes a gas station/convenience store and a liquor store.
We are both artists and our home and studio are on the property. Feel free to come by anytime during your stay to chat and visit. We know a lot about the area and can help with ideas about things to do. We'd love to have you as our guests!

Awesome flat in an awesome location. The park nearby is a climber's dream. Susan was wonderful and help and even had the house stocked with some food (which was awesome for our late arrival). I would highly recommend this listing.
This a perfect place to stay if your looking to get out of the city. We had a great time and the apartment was very clean.
Our stay at the Abode was lovely and cozy. We stayed here for our honeymoon, as we wanted a true "quaint/native" experience instead of staying in a commercial hotel downtown somewhere. This was our first trip to CO and we were beyond pleased!
True to the other reviews, the location could not be more prime ~ not more than 10 minutes to downtown Boulder, 40 from Denver, with the most amazing views of the mountains all around. There is a gas station less than 3 minutes from the Abode.
The description from online is very accurate, and the pictures portray a very accurate representation of the Abode. As other reviews have stated as well, you cannot find better views to wake up to out of the bedroom window.
Susan's personal art adorns the walls, adding a touch of culture that is very very comforting. As soon as you walk in, there is a desk with a house manual plus activities to do around Boulder. In the bedroom next to the bed you will find a small library of books ranging from the spiritual to the geographic.
Susan was more than a gracious host ~ unfortunately we didn't chance to meet her until our last day, when we shortened our reservation by 2 days due to my morning sickness. She was overly accommodating in making sure we were refunded our full amount.
The Abode is prime for 1-2 people, and maybe a small child. Any more than that and the small space will start to feel a bit cramped. There is also another apartment attached, though the adjoining doors are completely locked at all times of course. This affected nothing about our stay but was the only thing we could think of that we weren't aware of at the time of booking.
We would definitely return here in the future!
We loved our little abode right outside of Boulder! We went everywhere from downtown Denver, up to Fort Collins and also down to Idaho Springs so it is a great central location for visiting Colorado. Eldorado Canyon is just 5 minutes away and is a beautiful place to hiking. Susan and Tom were wonderful hosts. They made sure we had everything that we needed, and also gave us great tips on where to eat or places to go while we were there. It was our first time visiting Colorado and we loved every minute of it. Having a clean and cozy place to stay in made it an even better vacation!
My wife and I had a fantastic stay at Susan and Tom's Abode. The location is fantastic -- Boulder is ten minutes away and its a quick and simple in and out of Red Rocks.
The home itself is spacious and comfortable -- when we arrived the windows were open and the curtains were blowing in the wind. The place is thoughtfully decorated with a variety of art and the kitchen is filled with all the necessary tools to make a good dinner (and breakfast).
We had a great time and will return the next time we head to Red Rocks.
Thanks for the hospitality Susan and Tom!
Susan welcomed us as we drove into the driveway and offered her assistance if we needed anything.
Wonderful place! We felt like we were home the moment we walked in. Very comfortable and cozy place. Great view of the mountains to wake up to. Pictures don't do it justice. We didn't get to meet Susan due to our very late arrival but she was great accommodating our needs and quick to respond to emails/messages. We hope to come back again and recommend this to anyone.

About the Host, Susan
I am a self employed artist and have lived in this beautiful valley since 1991, with my husband, Tom, who is a ceramic artist, teacher, and a musician.
In the past, we spent a lot of time on the road, doing art shows with our two sons, who grew up here.
I have done a lot of traveling and enjoy meeting people from all over. One of the most memorable experiences of my life was when I lived in Italy for close to a year while I was in college in the early '70's. Part of the time I lived with an Italian family in Tuscany whom I adored. I would love to return there someday.
I enjoy being active in the outdoors and at the gym, cooking fun and healthy foods, growing vegetables and herbs, and learning new skills. I love to read and collect all kinds of books, including novels, non-fiction and cookbooks. One of my favorite books is The Infinite Plan, by Isabel Allende.
We have had visits in our home with many guests from all over through the years, and it has been good times. I have learned to be open to having adventures and being spontaneous. My most memorable times have not involved much planning or expense.
