Staying with Momi and Elwood was the real deal, Hawaiian style! Great people, local neighbourhood with warm hearts and hospitality. I was camping beforehand and I was so pleased to have lovely linens and a comfy bed too! Great to wake up to sounds of family and ukelele music.
We spent 5 night by Elwood and Momi's b&b and was great! If your looking for a real Hawaian experience with people from there, it's the good place. We had the big room in which we had a lot of space, the others are smaller I think. You are in a rustic cottage in the middle of the nature ( so yes you will have some Mosquitos, bugs, dogs and birds noise), we really enjoyed this place! For the breakfast, you have a fresh fruit & a croissant or cake. For me it was not enough but for my fiancé yes !
If you can catch Elwood between all his interesting occupations, he will give you really good advices for beautiful places to go.
We spent time to talk with Elwood about the culture and a lot of interesting things! If you re lucky, you will (email hidden) Ukulele song :) thanks for this easy and true experience, we really enjoyed it!! :)

We had a great time staying 3 nights at Elwood&Momi's BnB. They are wonderful hosts and always ready to answer your questions. Momi met us in the hall with a big smile and showed us the place. Elwood nicely surprised us by telling us the stories of Waimea and Kauai. He played ukulele and sung the beautiful songs he wrote. He added a very warm feeling to our hawaiian experiance. Also he took us surfing and showed us a secret surfing spot.
The room we stayed in was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. It took a moment to get used to chickens singing in the night (chickens are ubiquitous in Kauai). We really enjoyed having papaya with berries and lemon for breakfast and tea with toast. It was really special to spend some time in the atmosphere of the real hawaiian house and learn about traditions and language.
Now we know what the genuine hawaiian hospitality is.
Mahalo nui loa!
Outstanding stay! Elwood was such an inviting host and a wonderful person. He had breakfast ready for me every morning and I was delighted to hear him play the ukulele! The room was perfect and it was nice being able to use the kitchen for my meals. Perfect location and just minutes from the beach. Would definitely stay again!
We had a lovely stay with Elwood and Momi. They were incredibly nice and let us know about what was going on in the area and great places to go. We basically had the whole living area, kitchen and dining room to ourselves during our stay. We always got great sleep and enjoyed a light breakfast every morning that was prepared by Elwood and Momi. We recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxed vacation in a small quiet town.
Great place to stay and experience a piece of true Kaua'i. The room and bathroom were very nice, the breakfast, especially the papaya was delicious! Very nice location and perfectly located for the beaches in south Kaua'i and for Waimea Canyon. Don't forget earplugs, or the roosters will wake you up in the middle of the night! Elwood and Momi are very charming. Elwood even shared some Hawaiian culture and stories with us - must have been funny to watch us trying to dance the Hula... Ask him for everything you want to know or do, he will be happy to help you. We would definitely choose this place again. Mahalo!

This litte piece of paradise is worth to be visited. Quite, simple, far away from the beathen trek. Access to Waimea Canyon is nearby. 10 minutes by car. So are a couple of nice and small cafes and restaurants. Very local and authentic. Momi and Elwood are very friendly host. We loved the place and the couple with very much of Aloha. Mahalo Momi&Elwood
Staying with Elwood and Momi was the most authentic Hawaiian experience during our whole trip. Located in a residential area in the less touristy south of the island, you get an insight into the daily life of a Hawaiian family. With his knowledge on Hawaiian culture and by performing beautiful traditional songs, Elwood creates a charming environment, which makes you feel at home immediately. We really liked his wise and open-minded attitude as well as all the help he provided for our planned activities. We definitely would go there any time again.
Elwood was a very friendly and relaxed host. He entertained and informed us with his stories, and sang for us, and if that sounds corny it's only because I've written it wrong. Meeting Elwood I feel fortunate to have come into contact with a part of the authentic Hawaii, the Hawaii that hasn't yet been bought up and ground through the money-making mincer. You won't meet a happier, nicer guy.
