Central city location in between Waikiki Beach and downtown Honolulu. With close proximity to freeway, buslines, and art venues this is a great location to be able to experience as much of Oahu as you can during your visit. World famous Waikiki Beach is 2 miles away and is a 10 minute drive or 20 minute bus ride.
FREE PARKING (in lot across the street) and SURFBOARDS AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO USE (a 9'0" longboard and a 7'6" mini-gun). I can also direct you to some of the best spots on the island -- and if I have a day off even give you a lesson :)
I typically will pick up guests from the airport as well but sometimes am not able due to my schedule. If you book for 5 days or more I will offer this pick-up for no extra charge. If it is less than that I ask for $20 just to cover gas costs. (A cab would be $25/$30). I hope to make this as 'all inclusive' as possible so you only have to pay for your food/drinks - and the rest of the island is at your fingertips. I hate when you budget for a vacation and then once you arrive you have to pay extra for parking, extra for car, etc..... and before you realize it you have spent hundreds of $$'s more than you anticipated. There are a few places in Waikiki that are closer to the beach and cheaper but do NOT offer parking - let alone use of a car.
Room is a 2br and the other room is also a separate airbnb rental -- that room comes with a car as well.
We are a short walk to the Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall and the Honolulu Museum of Art. If you are here for the last Friday of the month you will enjoy "Art After Dark" which is at the Honolulu Museum of Art and is an evening party from 6-9PM. Just down the street is Ward Centers and Kaka'ako which are where many locally owned stores/restaurants are located -- as well as a few chains. Also nearby is the BlueTree Cafe, where I play music during the evenings once/week. If you are a musician and want to play a tune with me or a singer/songwriter and want to play something in Hawaii I'd love to be able to facilitate that!
ABOUT ME: I am a 27 year old Michigan native, and moved to Oahu 4 years ago to reconnect with family in the Islands. By days I work as a clinical trial coordinator - helping physicians manage pharmaceutical trials. By nights I am an aspiring singer/songwriter, and can be found at open mics a few times a week pursuing my dreams on stage. I am also the lead singer of a local cover band called "20 Years Too Late". I am a very good tour guide and am always happy to share my favorite things to do in Hawaii.
It is my goal to make your time here as memorable as possible --- please feel free to ask any questions and I look forward to hearing from you!

I had a great time staying at Phil's! Phil was very responsive and accommodating. The apartment and car are perfect for exploring the island.
We stayed here for our first few nights in Hawai'i, and this was definitely the perfect place to start. Phil is an amazing host and really goes out of his way to make sure you have a good experience. Within an hour or so of our plane landing, Phil took us out surfing - he's a great teacher and was really patient and helpful. Be sure to ask him to play something for you on the guitar.
The apartment was simple but has everything you need -especially if you're staying longer and would like to be able to cook for yourself.
Besides Phil, the best part of this place is the sweet convertible - it's not new or anything, but we had a great time driving it around the island with the top down.
We will definitely be staying here again if we ever get the chance.
Loved the place and being able to use the car. Great way to see the island!
Excellent combo for those staying in Honolulu, centrally located apartment and a convertible to get you anywhere on the island. In addition, Phil is a friendly and easy-going host.
Unfortunately, we did not meet Philip when we were there, but communication was super easy regardless. He checked in to see that everything was fine.
It was very convenient to have the car to get around. It's not a new car, so don't expect that rental car companies give you, but the car always took us where we wanted to go.
The apartment is ok. The bathroom is in fact shared with the other room, and this room does not have a real window (it's a window to the second bedroom).
We had a good time there and had fun cruising around the island in the convertible!
Phil wasn't around for my visit, but he was responsive via text and phone. He arranged to have someone pick me up at the airport and take me to his place. The apartment is fine -- clean sheets, quiet, and good location if you have a car. Nothing special but not bad if you're going to spend most of your time out and about. The convertible is what I would call an "island car." It's a little a clunky but gets you around and it was nice to be able to drop the top to fit a surfboard in there!
So all in all, it was a good deal with the car and Phil's help. One thing to keep in mind: the location is very convenient to the highway but be prepared to deal with a lot of traffic on that stretch of H-1.
A bit bohemian and at the corner of one of the worst intersections in town...but Phillip couldn't be a more gracious host, immediately responding to all requests with a smile. It's not the Sheraton, but at this price, the bottom line is that you can't beat this deal. A car and a private room for less than it costs at a budget room in Waikiki, and parking is included to boot! Great for students and a perfect hostel alternative, across the street from the Museum if you're in town for "Art After Dark", and he even throws in use of surfboards/boogie boards. Thanks Philip!
Philip is a fantastic guy! Always there to help and do a service! Always available to give advice! His room is in a very good place in Honolulu, near the highway and at a distance reasonable of the financial center ! and visit Oahu in convertible : the dream!!
And especially Philip is an artist ! What a wonderfull voice !
Thank you Philip for your kindness, for this fabulous walk and your availability ! I hope to see again you one day in Honolulu !!
Mahalo and aloha !
Phil was amazing! He came to pick up us to the airport. He told us about the best places to visit (restaurants, beaches, etc.). Apparently, he has a talent to find the places that are not yet "corrupt" by the tourists. That was exactly what I was looking for. He showed us the restaurant where You can buy POKE (I had no idea before. It is similar to sushi. As sushi lover, I have never eaten more delicious food) for $7!
The room was clean, apartment was comfortable, the other two guys were really friendly. The kitchen was also fine. And I could not forget, the location of the place is wonderful.
Phil was doing EVERYTHING, I am serious, EVERYTHING to makes us feeling comfortable. He was reachable on the phone all the time and his advises was the best since he has a wealth of knowledge about Hawaii.
My stay was unfortunately quite short, then I moved to Kauai. The thing I regret the most is that I didn't get to known better with him. During my next stay on Hawaii, I will choose him for million percent.
Great guy and an amazing musician. The place is convenient and close to everything.. Very good value. Philip was very accommodating and attentive with all of our needs and requests.
