it's just three blocks to all the hot-spots, live music, restaurants, & excitement of Frenchmen Street & Lower Decatur. a few short blocks along there lead you into the French Quarter, the Mississippi Riverfront, the world-famous French Market, & a ferry to Algiers Point. it's so close to the Quarter you can even make use of the pedi-cab (hirable bike taxi) service both ways. we are just 2 blocks from the closest airport shuttle location, 1/4 mile from the interstate exit, & 1/2 block from a major city bus line heading straight along the length of the neighboring French Quarter & Treme', meeting up with numerous other citywide buses & our famous streetcars, or oppositely heading deep into the Bywater Arts District, but these neighborhoods are just minutes of walking or biking as well. multiple other citywide public transit options are available in just 1 - 3 blocks should you choose not to walk or rent the bikes. neighborhood music clubs, cafés, coffee houses, restaurants, live theater/comedy/burlesque venues, gourmet brick-oven pizza (available by the slice), a gym, yoga & fitness center, spa massage, package liquor, a food co-op, washeteria, community parks, 24-hour pubs, a 24-hour organic grocery & deli, fast food, beauty salon, gas station, & national drug store, are all within 5 blocks. another five blocks adds a public library, country/swim club with a heated saline pool, sno-ball stand, & historic cemetery to the mix. thrift/antique stores & art galleries abound. this location has plenty of nearby international dining options for those interested in more than Creole & Cajun fare, & some great vegetarian options as well, of which i know *nearly* all. Other Things to Note
the apartment is occupied by me & my very sweet, sociable, & well-behaved, 6yo, medium-sized, bully-mix dog. she sleeps with me, but is happily available for petting or snuggling, & has been a very popular guest favorite; see the reviews for plenty of information. she is very short haired & has her own kennel for when i am out if she is not with me on the bike, which is often. you do not have to *love* dogs, but you should probably just be comfortable around a social, easygoing, & very lovable dog. (:
flexible hours; can accommodate all types of schedules; no curfews. last-minute reservations happily accepted when possible. check out my semi-private listing as well; discounts available if both listings booked together. see you soon! ((-:
this location has a shared-space listing as well, with a privacy-curtained loft bed, which may be booked by one or two guests; you will be briefly passing through that space into yours, which is completely private. (the kitchen is part of that large room, so if it is occupied, filming Iron Chef: Breakfast Edition at 6am is probably a bad idea. otherwise, their curtains provide as much privacy as they would like around their loft bed.)
***WEEKLY RATES: just ask for a weekly discount! however, those rates do not apply during festivals/holidays, but a similar discount will happily be given.
*common sense & courtesy required for neighbors & other guests. *all smoking outside. *gate remains locked at all times for security of dog & bikes. *i am always available & happy to help with any questions or concerns as needed. Thanks!!!

Yvonne was such an amazing host! She was so knowledgeable about New Orleans and gave us great recommendations. The rental bikes were a life saver and so much cheaper and more convenient than any other rental place. Poochini is a dear - so sweet, friendly and obedient. The place was clean, Yvonne went out of her way to be accommodating - giving up space in her bathroom for guests, etc. We loved staying there!
We loved staying at Yvonne's! She had everything we needed--towels, toiletries, even some delicious treats waiting for us on the bed when we arrived. The room was comfortable & clean & everything we could have wanted. The place is also in a great location: just a short walk to Frenchman St & the busier areas of NOLA, but far enough removed that it's nice & peaceful outside the apartment. I'm also a big fan of the available parking in the area!
Yvonne had tons of recommendations on cool nearby places to check out, and also gave us some advice on the safest spots/routes to stick to while walking around the city. She was also really flexible about our check out time, which was awesome. And of course you can't forget Poochini--the friendliest dog ever.
We only stayed for one night but would definitely return! I can't recommend Yvonne (& Poochini) enough.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Yvonne's for 10 nights in March.
The bedroom was OK, Yvonnne even clean our mess many times buuuuut you should know first : there is a massive half-moon shaped hole in one of the wall of the bedroom you are about to rent.
On top of that, the wall we discuss is unfortunately the thing which segregate your future bedroom from the living room.
Now let's describe the living room because except two clichés of the kitchen and table/chairs... There is a little stuff that a person who would like to know as well : there is also two bunk beds.
The global atmosphere of the place was dark, even when sun rose.
The kitchen was never ready to use : always mess in sink and on top of cooking devices.
General cleaning standing of this place was clearly below the average of airbnb places I've ever been.
It could be OK if you are going to have a trip with a friend (and if you have poor standards as well).
But certainly not with your girlfriend
Yvonne was the perfect host! Not only is she very accommodating (had to drop off bags early) but also is very organized! She has binders of food, tours, and maps available and also had the room stocked with coffee, water, and towels. I could not have been happier with my stay (1 night though I wish it was more). House is in a great location (~10 walk to French Quarter and ~5 to Frenchmen). Recommend her place without hesitation.
We loved our stay in NOLA with Yvonne. She is very helpful, has great knowledge about NOLA and we really enjoyed the area. We stuck to Royal Street for walking as advised by Yvonne and we felt safe at all times. It's a very quick walk (6 mins) to Frenchmen Street and all the festivities!
The private room was ideal. The double shotgun has one bathroom and another bed in the kitchen which is rented also. There is a lovely dog called Poochini, if you are not a dog person then this wouldn't be the stay for you.
Many thanks to Yvonne for giving us lots of tips on what to do.
