powerful house AC & softly filtered light allow for naps at any time of day, & curtains are an adjustable slidey combination of blackouts for late sleepers, &/or sheers for natural light. your room is equipped with two windows, individual brand-new window AC, stainless percolator (with fresh local coffee, tea bags, organic raw, local sugar, & mugs), BRITA water filter, dresser, nightstand, Bluetooth lamp with dimmable & multicolored lights, clock, ceiling fan with light, box fan, space heater, lounge & stadium chairs, grounded surge protector, hi-speed USB charging outlet, night light, cubby cubes, steam iron, towel rack, & tailor's rack with hangers for storage, & umbrellas to borrow. shared kitchen with new, modern, appliances, oven, toaster oven, microwave, toaster, French press, water purifier, & cabinet/refrigerator space accessible to guests; large dining nook. large, open guest shelf in bathroom, & guest storage space in shower for personal items.

it's just three blocks to all the hot-spots, live music, restaurants, & excitement of Frenchmen Street & Lower Decatur. a few short blocks along there lead you into the French Quarter, the Mississippi Riverfront, the world-famous French Market, & a ferry to Algiers Point. it's so close to the Quarter you can even make use of the pedi-cab (hirable bike taxi) service both ways. we are just 2 blocks from the closest airport shuttle location, 1/4 mile from the interstate exit, & 1/2 block from a major city bus line heading straight along the length of the neighboring French Quarter & Treme', meeting up with numerous other citywide buses & our famous streetcars, or oppositely heading deep into the Bywater Arts District, but these neighborhoods are just minutes of walking or biking as well. multiple other citywide public transit options are available in just 1 - 3 blocks should you choose not to walk or rent the bikes. neighborhood music clubs, cafés, coffee houses, restaurants, live theater/comedy/burlesque venues, gourmet brick-oven pizza (available by the slice), a gym, yoga & fitness center, spa massage, package liquor, a food co-op, washeteria, community parks, 24-hour pubs, a 24-hour organic grocery & deli, fast food, beauty salon, gas station, & national drug store, are all within 5 blocks. another five blocks adds a public library, country/swim club with a heated saline pool, sno-ball stand, & historic cemetery to the mix. thrift/antique stores & art galleries abound. this location has plenty of nearby international dining options for those interested in more than Creole & Cajun fare, & some great vegetarian options as well, of which i know *nearly* all. Other Things to Note
the apartment is occupied by me & my very sweet, sociable, & well-behaved, 6yo, medium-sized, bully-mix dog. she sleeps with me, but is happily available for petting or snuggling, & has been a very popular guest favorite; see the reviews for plenty of information. she is very short haired & has her own kennel for when i am out if she is not with me on the bike, which is often. you do not have to *love* dogs, but you should probably just be comfortable around a social, easygoing, & very lovable dog. (:
flexible hours; can accommodate all types of schedules; no curfews. last-minute reservations happily accepted when possible. check out my semi-private listing as well; discounts available if both listings booked together. see you soon! ((-:
this location has a shared-space listing as well, with a privacy-curtained loft bed, which may be booked by one or two guests; you will be briefly passing through that space into yours, which is completely private. (the kitchen is part of that large room, so if it is occupied, filming Iron Chef: Breakfast Edition at 6am is probably a bad idea. otherwise, their curtains provide as much privacy as they would like around their loft bed.)
***WEEKLY RATES: just ask for a weekly discount! however, those rates do not apply during festivals/holidays, but a similar discount will happily be given.
*common sense & courtesy required for neighbors & other guests. *all smoking outside. *gate remains locked at all times for security of dog & bikes. *i am always available & happy to help with any questions or concerns as needed. Thanks!!!
palm trees sweep the window; in-room percolator; BRITA water filter; local coffee; tea; raw, organic, local sugar; & plenty of fresh, clean towels. black, plush blanket; (not real panther). (:
Exactly as advertised. Yvonne went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and provide information on things to do in New Orleans. Would recommend!
We really enjoyed staying with Yvonne. The neighbourhood was just beautiful, and within walking distance of so many lovely shops and restaurants and bars. Yvonne was incredibly welcoming and such a gracious hostess. She was always available with lots of great recommendations, helpful advice and New Orleans lore. The room is comfy and cool and is full of thougtful little touches to make you feel right at home. And Poochini is an absolute darling. Thank you so much Yvonne! Until next time!
Wow! What a great host Yvonne was. Welcoming and hospitable from the moment we arrived. Our room was really cute and clean and exactly as shown. We even had our own coffee percolator not to mention tea, Brita water jug and little treats! We also had our own air-con. The bed was extremely comfortable.
Fantastic address with excellent cafes and bars not more than a block away.
Yvonne and Poochini were great company - our only regret is not booking for longer.
I definitely hope to stay in touch with Yvonne and stay with her again.
This is the only neighbourhood I would want to stay in Nola for every visit. I found myself coming back to it every night to eat at Siberia, and hang out at the Allways and Hi Lo. It was so charming and fun to ride bikes around in and more than easy enough to get to other areas of Nola.
Yvonne couldn't have been a more welcoming host. The room was comfortable and Poochini really made me feel the comfort of home.
If you're looking for warm people and a cozy spot on a no frills budget, this is your perfect bet. Rent the bikes from Yvonne and join her on the Nola Social Bike Ride for a great tour of Nola.
The reservation was canceled 6 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
My friend and I had a great stay with Yvonne! She was extremely accommodating and made us feel welcome. She is a very thoughtful host - she did everything from leaving snacks/treats for us to texting us everyday to see how we were doing and offering fun things for us to do. The location is AMAZING. Walking distance to everything you could want and very safe and also quiet at night! If I return to Nola I will definitely try to return here - thank you Yvonne!
Yvonne was very friendly and always asking us if we needed anything! She had made a great book of places to go, had a spare umbrella for us and was there to give any advice we asked for. We were within walking distance of everything we wanted to do and the neighborhood was fine. I must say, while the room fit the photos, the rest of the living space was very messy, not at all like the photos!
recovering from unexpected knee surgery/injury, i unfortunately came down with a very serious case of the flu (which also resulted in a trip to the ER at 2am with dehydration & a 103/104 temperature). rather than do a last-minute cancel with my guests, i just did my absolute best to focus on cleaning guest rooms & the bathroom, & common areas did get a bit out of order with (lots of rain) jackets, umbrellas, shoes, etc. my above reviews are back to mentioning a "clean" space, as are the previous ones, so i regret that anyone was inconvenienced by the disarray, but am very pleased the cleaning i did focus on prevented anyone else from contracting the awful thing i had. glad to have things back in order now. (:
