Other Things to Note
the apartment is occupied by me & my very sweet, sociable, & well-behaved, 6yo, medium-sized, bully-mix dog. she sleeps with me, but is happily available for petting or snuggling, & has been a very popular guest favorite; see the reviews for plenty of information. she is very short haired & has her own kennel for when i am out if she is not with me on the bike, which is often. you do not have to *love* dogs, but you should probably just be comfortable around a social, easygoing, & very lovable dog. (:
flexible hours; can accommodate all types of schedules; no curfews. last-minute reservations happily accepted when possible. check out my semi-private listing as well; discounts available if both listings booked together. see you soon! ((-:
this location has a shared-space listing as well, with a privacy-curtained loft bed, which may be booked by one or two guests; you will be briefly passing through that space into yours, which is completely private. (the kitchen is part of that large room, so if it is occupied, filming Iron Chef: Breakfast Edition at 6am is probably a bad idea. otherwise, their curtains provide as much privacy as they would like around their loft bed.)
***WEEKLY RATES: just ask for a weekly discount! however, those rates do not apply during festivals/holidays, but a similar discount will happily be given.
*common sense & courtesy required for neighbors & other guests. *all smoking outside. *gate remains locked at all times for security of dog & bikes. *i am always available & happy to help with any questions or concerns as needed. Thanks!!!
palm trees sweep the window; in-room percolator; BRITA water filter; local coffee; tea; raw, organic, local sugar; & plenty of fresh, clean towels. black, plush blanket; (not real panther). (:
Yvonne is an amazing - generous, meticulous, interesting, informed, ethical - host and just a gem of a sweet-hearted person. I'm not sure what I can do to value-add to the volumes of awesome reviews that would actually be helpful but I'll try! The location of her place is PERFECT. Safe, super close to the action but beautiful and quiet. A great neighbourhood - cafes, bars, convenience - everything you need. If you are into bikes stop looking now and book. Yvonne's set up with the bikes MADE my trip - and the price is so reasonable it is verging on ridiculous. Yvonne also set me up with the social rides which was a super-friendly, FREE, fun way to meet a bunch of crazy cool locals and tour the city. Yvonne has TONNES of info both in wonderfully organised binders available for your perusal and in her amazing catalogue brain - she knows the town inside out and will really think about what you want/ like and tailor recommendations for you - you name it - food/ bars/ art/ culture/ laundromat - whatever you need. I went for the private room and it was cosy, super well set up and felt luxurious - well worth the extra $$. I slept really well. Honestly, there is no stone left unturned by Yvonne in trying to help you out and make you comfortable - personally I received snacks, tea, spot on recommendations, loving care, delicious home made food, make-up tutorials! safety tips for when I was getting adventurous at night, and she got me stuff to take for my bike back home so I could light it up NOLA style! As a solo female traveller I felt totally safe and Yvonne had my back and was like a sister - I just had the best time in NOLA. It is almost amazing how Yvonne is super available to meet your needs but at the same time totally discreet and not in your face or demanding at all. Poochini is the same - what a beautiful, loving, attentive creature - but undemanding and well trained. If invited she would sit near my bed and just emit loving vibes without being all over me like many dogs. But if you wanna play, she's totally up for it. Thanks Yvonne x 100. Enjoy NOLA people, what an intoxicating, wonderful town. I'd double my time there if I could. P.S. this is a soulful lived in home full of love, ideas, reading material, conversation and amazingly, a few little signs of life - like a couple of dishes drying on the sink and some products in the bathroom. If you are super-minimalist or uptight about life maybe think about this before you book... or maybe don't come to New Orleans! :)
Yvonne was the perfect host, giving me a very warm welcome and giving me loads of information about New Orleans, as well as some much needed and delicious home made ice tea. The room was comfortable and was perfectly situated within striking distance of Frenchman street. The cafe down the block was also excellent. I would strongly recommend staying with Yvonne and I look forward to going back again.
Yvonne was a great hostess! My sister and I could not have asked for a better location nor a more welcoming atmosphere. Yvonne had binders full of information for us to peruse, and refilled the
Britta water filter and emptied our garbage every day. She was a fantastic hostess and I would recommend anyone to stay with her.
We showed up fairly late but Yvonne was super accommodating. She gave us the full description of the neighborhood, told us where to go, explained the lesser and greater parts of New Orleans, had an outstanding knowledge of the city's history and was an an all around gem of a human. Her place is perfectly located near Frenchman and far enough away from the pukey frat bags on Bourbon. It was super quiet and air conditioned and fun.
Staying at Yvonne's was amazing. I had an early morning flight and she still had guests who didn't have to check out until the afternoon so she took care of me with snacks, blankets and directions to nearby relaxing spots until I could come back to the room. Throughout our stay she gave great recommendations and even looked up things I told her I was interested in. We rented bikes for the week and it was such a great way to see the city's downtown.
This was a very laid-back, comfortable experience in a clean, restful environment. The location is great -- can go back and forth from the French Quarter throughout the day without exhausting yourself. Yvonne is overall a great host who will make your room nice and keep the house cool in the serious summer heat. The first thing I said when I saw the room was "can I live here!?"
Yvonne has: binders full of restaurant menus and tour brochures, books and magazines of current New Orleans activities, an adorable doggy who sometimes sneaks a peek in your room to hang out, a clean and relatively spacious bathroom with shelves you can put your stuff in, and a great caring disposition.
We lost/had stolen our wallets and Yvonne even offered to help us get everything in order so we could go back home. Lovely time, really recommend it.
Yvonne was such a kind host for our 4 nights in NOLA! This was my first experience using Airbnb and she has set the bar so high. Yvonne was very accommodating of our late night arrival and was so well prepared with all kinds of info in the area for us-- you can tell she's been doing this for a long time. The room looks just like the pictures (if not even better) and was fully stocked with everything we could have ever asked for. And of course, we LOVED Poochini!!
What really made our experience standout was all the little ways that Yvonne went above and beyond. When the power went out one night, she texted me updates and even offered to pick us up so we wouldn't have to walk home in the dark. And one night she brought tons of late night snacks to our room just because! As a fellow vegetarian, I especially loved all of Yvonne's food recommendations. She is honestly such a kind person and exactly the kind of person who makes you feel totally comfortable staying in her home. I'll definitely be reaching out to her if I'm back in NOLA again!
Yvonne was an amazing host. She is super prepared with information to offer on places to eat and things to do around NOLA. The location is great for exploring frenchman street. We really were only there for sleeping and showering but it was perfect. Poochini was also a very welcomed bed buddy for our afternoon siestas :) sweetest dog ever! The place was also very clean! Yvonne also allowed us to check out a couple hours later so that we could explore New Orleans a little bit longer before our flight.
