Our home was build in 1965 using the classical mid-century modern architectural design of the period. We have made certain to maintain the same look and feel with original Scandinavian furniture of the classical designers of the time. However, we have also added touches of modern comfort, as we like to mix and match the old (albeit modern) with the new.
I work in the high tech sector, so the house is completely wired (and wireless). You will enjoy the fasted internet connection anywhere in the country, and a tech guru who can help you with just about any tech-related questions you may have.
We are two middle-age professionals who are very ecologically-minded and enjoy meeting new people. We respect those who are like-minded and enjoy animals as well, domesticated or otherwise. We actually have two great Cavalier King Charles and Bichon Frise dogs who ARE part of the family.
We have two separate guest rooms with one full bathroom to share. One has a queen-size, memory-foam bed and the other one a twin-size bed. However, you are free to use our kitchen and the rest of the house at will, including our TV room.
I work from home, so I can make sure to be here should you have any questions about your stay. We are located a 15-20 minute walk away from Grosvenor metro station on the Washington, DC red line, and about 20 minutes metro ride from downtown. Depending on the time you arrive or leave, I will be glad to pick you up from or drop you off to the metro stop.
We leave in a safe, quite neighborhood within walking distance of a shopping center, a grocery store, and the Strathmore Center for the Performing Arts. We're less than 1.5 miles from NIH and the Naval / Walter Reed Hospital, and as mentioned earlier, a short ride away from DC.
We are more interested in hosting interesting and compatible people than making a few extra dollars. This is why we usually request for you to tell us a little about yourself before we accept a booking request, specially if you have no or few reviews. Our primary purpose for opening up our home to you is to get to know you, not to become rich. We hope you understand.
If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact me. I usually reply back within hours, unless I am traveling, in which case I will reply within a day.

My husband and I stayed a few days with Rodrigo and Monica and their three charming little dogs. Everything was great. We were close to the NIH, where I needed to visit and also close to the Mall and some great restaurants. We got there really late and had to leave pretty early so we didn't have a lot of time to spend with Rodrigo and Monica but we would give them a great recommendation for their mid-century modern home if you are in this area. They were very nice to us during our short stay and we would gladly stay with them again if things work out and we are in the area. Thanks Rodrigo, Monica, Rosco, Litzin and Tomu, for making us feel at home in an area of the country which we are so unfamiliar with.
Everything on the website about this home is true and accurately stated. Rodrigo and Monica accommodated our particular needs and were extremely gracious and interesting hosts. We enjoyed and appreciated them so much that we encourage potential guests to realize that this is far more than rented rooms; it is a comfortable home in a convenient location for walkers: next to Bethesda Trolley Trail and near grocery and restaurants. And the dogs were an additional treat! Very well behaved and accepting of guests. My son and I thank you for our most pleasant week.
Monica and Rodrigo are perfect hosts! I went to Bethesda for an internship on NIH and stayed for one month with them. They were really nice with me during all the time and made me feel home. The house is huge, very clean and so beautiful as you can see in the pictures! And the 3 dogs (Rosco, Litzin and Tomu) are really lovely. Since my first contact with Rodrigo I thought I made a good choice to stay there with them. Rodrigo was always answering me so quickly and very polite. And he was really open to negociate the price with me (thank you so much, Rodrigo!). The first day I talked with them I realized that they are in Airbnb because they like to meet new people and not for the money. The day I arrived there, it was a storm and my flight arrived several hours later and I could arrive in the house just after midnight. I told Rodrigo and he was very kind and waited me awake. They were always helping me with my English troubles and with everything and they gave me several rides. When you go to another country alone, it is a blessing to find people as good as them! They have very interesting life stories; they have done amazing trips and they are so funny. Monica is a passionate professional and loves what she does, always telling me about her conservation projects (I loved the project of the Monarch butterfly). Rodrigo works at home and can operate dozens of computers simultaneously. Despite always working hard, they were always in a good mood, it’s impressive! I could enjoy good moments with them, good conversations and great dinners (they are really great cookers). I went out for shopping with Monica and it was so nice. We construct a snow man in a storm day and the dogs were a little bit scared. The dogs are very cute and friendly. Rosco is the oldest one, but very smart and lovely. Litzin is the middle one, so beautiful, jealous and crazy about food. Tomu is the newest one in the house, looks like a teddy bear and loves a cuddle. Whenever I came home, the dogs were so happy to see me, it was very nice to arrive and see their joy. Surely Monica and Rodrigo were more than hosts for me. In fact, I consider Monica and Rodrigo my friends. When I was in the house, it was my birthday and they took me out to dinner, it was really fun. And on the day I left the house, they helped me with my huge luggage and led me to the airport. It was really sweet. Thank you so much for everything! I strongly recommend them!
Absolutely lovely couple with a very clean and amenable house and room. They were more than gracious. I only wish I had built in more time to hang out with them!
Monica and Rodrigo are a wonderful couple, they are so kind and so interesting persons to talk to. They made me feel as part of their family. The house is very confortable and clean. I really enjoy my stay there, and the company of the entire family, including Tomu, Litzin and Rosco!! Rodrigo and Mónica, Thanks a lot for the hospitality. I hope to see you again next year.
Rodrigo & Monica were great and the room was more than adequate with closet space etc. Their home is immaculate but make sure the AC (if necessary) and hot water are working. Maintenance was virtually immediate but yet inconvenient. Loved our conversations, a big plus for the single traveler. Their help with questions was also invaluable. I would not hesitate for an instant to book another stay with Rodrigo if another visit to Bethesda presents itself.

Rodrigo and his wife Monica were incredible hosts. From the time of writing on AirBNB to the last day of my stay, Rodrigo and his wife treated me with the utmost respect and their accommodation was fantastic. I highly recommend staying here if you are travelling into D.C. (not a long commute with the MARC train) or if looking for a suburb to lay low and enjoy relaxation. Great experience. Thank you again.
