A recent guest said "This is the most beautiful Airbnb I've ever visited." Enjoy the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere beside the lagoon, with mountains framing the foreground. Paddle around on kayaks, meditate on a yoga mat, or laze on garden day beds. The ocean is 1.5km away. Full kitchen and gorgeous open-plan lounge with doors opening to the wooden deck and lawn. Wifi & dedicated study. Two bedrooms, each with queen bed and own bathroom. Secure inside parking. Two small dogs allowed.
The space
It's called Waterside Cottage because the lagoon laps onto the lawn, but some guests have coined it the "Buddah House" for the wooden Buddah welcoming you at the entrance, and for its peace and tranquility. Other's say it's the best Airbnb they've ever been too (thank you.)
Its interior design is highly praised by guests, and is very stylish, yet relaxed and peaceful. The uninterrupted views along a water channel to the mountains beyond creates an amazing sense of peace. We get masses of birds in the garden (do feed them - seed provided) and sometimes cape clawless otters (you have to be up at 3am to see them). It's a place for nature lovers.
Waterside Cottage has 2 delightful bedrooms, each with own bathroom:
Bedroom 1 - queen bed (extra long), bathroom with shower & bath
Bedroom 2 - queen bed, bathroom with shower
From the beautiful waterside position, interior designed luxury and inside-outside flow, you will probably do what most people do when they arrive and say "Wow!" Then instantly relax.
Park undercover in the Afro-Maroc courtyard via a remote controlled garage door. It's a peaceful area and the house and streets are safe and secure. There's a lovely walk from the house to Park Island Nature Reserve - or kayak there, moor up, walk around the island and kayak home!
Guest access
The whole house is yours; 2 bedrooms, 2-bathrooms, 1 inside parking, dedicated study area with free Wifi, Scandi-style kitchen (gas hob), 4-seater table and L-shaped sofa and stylish lounge seating, flatscreen TV with Netflix TV channels.
Guests absolutely love Waterside Cottage for the ability to do nothing or everything; local beaches (1.5km) and so many restaurants/cafes/surf shops along the Muizenberg beachfront, Kalk Bay village & harbour 5km, and only 35-mins drive on the highway straight to Cape Town.
There is a maid service once a week, who will clean and change bedding, but won't do your personal washing.
Other things to note
There is no fence between the lawn and the water so it's not suitable for small children or youngsters that can't swim. It is your responsibility to ensure the safety of your party, especially in and around the water and when using any watercraft. Please ENSURE all boats are tied up when not in use, as they have been known to fly off the jetty when the wind picks up. You will be responsible for the cost of replacing any lost boats.

Where you’ll be
Marina Da Gama, City of Cape Town
Canals thread through this quiet suburb, where kayaking, waterfront homes, and birdlife create a calm base near Cape Town's coast.
From the host
Marina da Gama is a bit like a Greek village; the houses are all different but they are all painted white and are positioned along water channels and islands in the last functional estuary on the False Bay coast. It's only about 1.5km from Muizenberg beach; great for surfing and boogie boarding, swimming, sunbathing and eating and drinking at beach cafes. Chill out and feel the laid-back surf dude vibe!
Kalk Bay is a 10-minute drive along the coast and you can spend all day wandering this little main street and its quirky shops, then eating and drinking your way around the village and harbour. I've lost count of how many places there are to eat and drink, but make sure you go for a cocktail (and meal) upstairs in Harbour House Restaurant on the harbour edge where the waves crash against the building.
You'll find a variety of prices for holiday houses in Marina da Gama and this is because some precincts within this large area are more desirable. Fisherman's Quay is highly sought after and my house has one of the best uninterrupted views of water and mountains in the entire Marina! It's a house kitted out for aesthetic appeal, pure pleasure and has everything you need.

Fun fact: I don't like terminal velocity!
I came on holiday to Cape Town (from London) 30 years ago and never left! I’m a Superhost with my Homestay ‘Waterside Cottage’ right on the water’s edge of a lagoon lapping against the lawn and kayaks ready to go. It's like being on holiday all the time!
I have one of the best jobs in the world; freelance travel writer specializing in African safari and Cape town. I've written a full tourist information folder for you with recommendations.
