A quaint little apartment on the most perfect street in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Close to practically every train in the city which takes you to anywhere in Manhattan or Williamsburg. A magical little place to relax in the beautiful metropolis of NYC.
I have an incredibly adorable conveniently located apartment in the heart of Fort Greene. When I say BNB, I really mean that. I am constantly cooking and creating things. I love to entertain and host people. Every train to Manhattan is accessible in less than a 4 minute walk, magically designed Fort Greene park across the street, and BAM cinemas, a theater, an opera house, all steps away. My apartment is very cozy, yet spacious. There are 2 bedrooms (one if them is mine) , and an eat in kitchen and shared bathroom. My style is classic and calm.
I have a Yamaha upright piano, and a kitchen with plenty of cooking space, and every appliance known to a chef. I have great wifi, a central speaker/stereo system, and a television with apple tv in the living room, though I hardly ever watch it. I am usually around with musicians coming over for quick visits, people singing and my house is quite a magical place.
The living room is great for hanging out or entertaining, or just having some wine and looking out the window that faces the quiet, tree lined street. I have air conditioning and very good heating. I have lived in Brooklyn for quite some time so I am an excellent source of information. Keep in mind I have two quiet and friendly cats that live here as well. Cafes, restaurants, shopping, and a flea, and farmers market on Saturdays, and many other things to do just steps away. I am an excellent source of information in "going ons" in the city. Look forward to meeting you.
Interaction with Guests
Pretty frequently. That being sad, I respect privacy and everyone's own agenda.
It's quaint, feels like a small vacation neighborhood in the midst of this urban jungle.
I live in one of the most convenient transport areas of all of NYC.
Other Things to Note
Keep in mind I work from home, I'm quite busy and I'm a journalist and writer, so I'm up at around 6AM (sometimes) That doesn't have to stop you from doing anything, I write for food so my kitchen always has projects going on. And I'm also a piano player and do practice quite a bit, but respect when someone needs quiet time. Just let me know!
I am pretty quiet most of the time, but i enjoy listening to music, as well as playing piano, and you are welcome to as well. I keep things pretty clean, dishes, etc. I'm very relaxed, and would love for you to feel at home while you are here. I have traveled the world a lot, and know what it is like to feel comfortable when you're abroad or traveling.
Perfect for me - very close to work. No issues. Host was warm and place was good.
Bretton is a generous host that makes you feel comfortable and at ease. The space is cozy, creative and unique. We had a great time basing ourselves there and loved the neighborhood. Leafy avenues of Brooklyn brownstones, great cafes and restaurants and proximity to two metro lines nearby. And for a bonus two hilariously entertaining cats and if your lucky, waking up to Bretton playing gorgeous piano music in the living room. Highly recommended.
Bretton is a wonderful and welcoming host. He always happy to help, and gave us advice on what to do. His place is very well located, near so so many subway stations. It is also very beautifully decorated. The room is a bit tight, but it's okay cause we were out most of the time. His cats are majestic creatures that want your attention all the time, but will leave you alone if you ignore them (how dare you!).
Overall an awesome experience. I would definitely recommend Bretton's place to anyone visiting NY.
Bretton was a fantastic host. He answered all my questions prior to booking and was available by text whilst I was navigating my way to his apartment. He was also waiting for me outside to let me into the building. He's apartment is creatively decorated making it welcoming and cozy. The entire apartment was very clean and organized. The room that I stayed and the bathroom were also very clean.
The location of the apartment is perfect for just about any visit to Brooklyn. It's close to a couple large green spaces, theatres, the Barclay Center, and nightlife. If my travels brought me back to Brooklyn I would stay here and I would recommend this location to family and friends. I highly recommend Bretton as a host.
Welcoming is when your Host opens the front door, see how cold and wet you are from walking in the New York December rain, and said "Come on in! Here's a towel... would you like a glass of wine to warm up?"
Bretton's apartment made me feel very comfortable... beautifully decorated, perfectly situated to key subway lines, on a safe quiet street and close to Brooklyn attractions. It is a shared apartment space and while Bretton had friends over, there was full respect of my private space (bedroom) and bed times.
Bretton as a host was gracious, as illustrated by our first interaction. We had some fabulous conversations and he (and his friends) gave me a real flavor of Brooklyn. This man COOKS! I was fed wonderful meals and wine and I very much appreciate the hospitality.
If you're a guest who wants a true B&B experience - where you meet locals, share a meal and conversation with them - this is the place to be.
Finally... it is best if you like cats. Resident kitties Sparkles and Whitman are very mild mannered and friendly, but if you're allergic or don't understand how to live with animals (and the odd bit of dirt associated), this is probably not the place for you. I happen to like cats.
Thank you, Bretton!
Great neighborhood, stylish apartment, relaxed host. Homemade bread as a bonus!
Hey there. My name is Bretton. I hail from the exciting land of Wisconsin, and I have been living in NYC for the last 8 years. I describe myself as an artist of life, and i'm a very creative person. I am a pianist, a cook, a yoga teacher, and a lover of music. I am pretty easy going at home, and chances are.....you can catch me playing piano, or I'm in my kitchen making a fresh pastry, a cake, or something delicious to eat. I love traveling, which is why i do air bnb. I have stayed at many places in other parts of the world, and I love hosting people, and giving people the "IN" to NYC and Brooklyn. You can mind your own space and be quiet, or you can chat up a conversation with me. I'm a valuable resource for NYC as I love to get out and I am very social. Come stay with me!
