Make your stay in New Orleans with friends a memorable one.
Relax in our quiet and spacious 2 story 3,200 Square Foot Historic 5 bedroom/3 bathroom House. Swim in the in-ground pool and have a cook-out on the patio's gas grill. There is plenty of on-street parking surrounding this corner property. A convenient 3-5 minute drive from the French Quarter.

Both apartments have Air Conditioning/Heating, fully equipped kitchens, a washer & dryer, FREE WI-FI Internet access, and a TV & DVD Player. The downstairs apartment
has a land line phone/voicemail system for local calls.

The upstairs and downtairs are separate apartments with their own entrance doors.
The upstairs apartment has a bathroom with a tub & shower. There are 2 bedrooms with doors that close, a dining room and a living room that doubles as a bedroom.
Both bedrooms have queen size beds, the others have futon frame sofa beds.

The downstairs apartment has 2 bathrooms. 1 bathroom has a clawfoot tub (take a long bubble bath). The other has an invigorating stand-up spa shower. There are 2 bedrooms with doors that close. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, the second bedroom has a slightly smaller vintage bed.

The huge living room/dining room has two large, comfortable sofas that can sleep one each. This room was once a pharmacy storefront years ago. While it does not have a door that closes, it is set off from the rest of the apartment and has exclusive access to the second bathroom. (Our parents sleep here when they visit). Depending on the sleeping arrangements of the guests, the downstairs apartment can sleep up to 5 guests.

There is another futon frame double size bed in the hallway/gallery space. Depending on sleeping arrangements, the downstairs apartment can comfortably accomodate up to 7 guests.

If the purpose of your trip is to explore New Orleans and have a quiet, comfortable place to crash at night, this place is for you. If you're seeking luxury accommodations, we encourage you to look elsewhere.

TAKE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A HOTEL/MOTEL WITH DAILY MAID SERVICE. In order to keep our prices low and not charge a cleaning fee, GUESTS STAYING AT THE HOUSE AGREE TO BAG AND TAKE OUT ALL OF THE GARBAGE & PERISHABLE FOOD / COFFEE GROUNDS, ETC. GUESTS ALSO AGREE TO WASH THE DISHES AND DO THE LAUNDRY (AT THE VERY LEAST, START THE TOWELS & BEDSHEETS IN THE WASHER). IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, WE WILL WITHHOLD A PORTION OF YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT AS A CLEANING FEE. IF YOU HAVE AN EARLY FLIGHT, THEN CLEAN UP THE NIGHT BEFORE. IF YOU DON"T WANT TO TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE/DO YOUR OWN DISHES & LAUNDRY AND/OR CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES, THEN RENT SOME OTHER PLACE. DON'T STAY AT OUR HOUSE.

Hey folks, I want to clear up a couple of points that reviewers have brought up:
•The pool---the pool is not heated so the month's that you can actually use it are maybe early April to maybe mid-October. We have a pool cleaning service but yes, the pool might be a little dirty in February when no one's using it!!!
• The house is NOT within a short walking distance to the French Quarter. I've never said in any advertising that it is. Bring a vehicle with you if you can.
• Yes, there are a million rules and notes. Why? I started out with NONE...it's because I've had numerous crazy guests do things to the house that even with the most twisted imagination I could never have dreamt up. If you're a clean, responsible, respectful guest you should have no issue with the rules/notes

  • Everything is very clearly stated in this listing, and we got exactly what we expected. The house is a perfect home base for exploring the city. We hung by the pool during the day and ventured out at night.

Just two blocks from the BEST bbq in NOLA, and there (email hidden) 1 block away where we could watch the World Cup.

  • Awesome house, awesome neighborhood, had such a good time !

Perfect accomodations for 5 days of NOLA celebration with my girlfriend and her family. Everything we needed, everything was exactly as described by Bill. Truly appreciated that there were no surprises whatsoever with this house.

Favorite spots in the neighborhood: Pizza D, Country Club, The Joint, Satsuma. Great scene.

We were a few hours later than expected with our checkout and Bill was very accommodating, very nice of him to do so!

  • Firstly, Bill is a really nice guy! It was a pleasure talking with him on numerous occassions prior to staying. The house is exactly how you see it, charming and in an amazing part of town. The Joint BBQ and the sports bar across the road (as well as Vaughn's), winner! If you want a genuine NOLA experience then stay here, otherwise stay on Bourbon. The house is a little old but that adds to the charm and there are a lot of rules which I did find it to keep to if I am honest. On my part, I didn't manage to do the laundry before I left but stripped the beds as we had a large group in town for a batchelor party. I also lost my phone and had an early flight so couldn't speak with Bill directly before I left. I do recommend Bill and this property but it wouldn't be great for you unless you had complete trust in your friends staying with you. I do hope that Bill would recommend me as a guest but understand that we failed to do the laundry so I accept any criticism. In all, top owner, top neighbourhood, charming listing, top city!

  • The neighborhood is awesome! There is a amazing BBQ spot on the corner, a coffee shop and a couple other restaurants a few blocks up and a great breakfast spot (Elizabeth's) a short walk away. There is also a little grocery / liqueur store a block away. There is a bus stop on the corner that takes you to the French Quarter, but we actually just walked there and to Frenchman street a number of times both during the day and late at night (about a half hour walk or so - it was February though, so probably less pleasant in the summer months). The neighbors were also super helpful with info about what to do and where to eat.

The house was perfect for what we needed - a large accommodation for a group of easy-going friends looking for a weekend space to share. Bill was very helpful - he's very detailed and particular, but it didn't bother any of us. Clearly he has had guests do weird things through the years, and each time a guest has done something ridiculous a new rule has been created. This made for an initially overwhelming number of rules, but we quickly realized most of them were things we would never dream of doing anyway. Basically, if you approach it as being a respectful guest in a friends home, you'll be perfectly content. Also, the house is an old, historic house with lots of quarks, but again, for a group accustomed to 100+ yrs old homes, it was no big deal. There are instruction notes all over the house, which you could view as off-putting, however, we chose to interpret them as helpful. The pool was pretty dirty, but again, it was February, so we didn't plan on swimming and maybe they clean the pool more regularly in the summer. Also, we ended up with 7 people (two couples), so we only had one person without a bedroom - the futons were really not comfortable, so the one extra person slept on the couch. If you plan on using the futons, just be aware, you may want to just put the mattresses on the floor or use / bring air mattresses. Our one complaint - having to wash all of our own linens at the end of the stay. It's included in the description (so the host was upfront about it), but it wasn't until further emails regarding check-out that we realized that we were expected to wash, dry and fold not just our towels, but sheets, etc. as well. This created a bit of a scramble on our departure day. We would have gladly paid a cleaning fee in order to avoid this responsibility.

Overall, a solid pick for a low-maintenance, mid-size group (6 - 10 people). It is not four stars, but for way less than the cost of 4 - 6 hotel rooms it was 100% worth the price. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • Came down to NOLA with a group of 10 in early February to escape the dreary Chicago winter. We really enjoyed our stay in this house. The owner was in contact with us about a week before the trip, giving us all the instructions and rules. Don't be intimidated by the number of rules - just be a decent human being, respectful of his house and the neighborhood and you'll be fine. It seems like a lot of the rules were written after hardcore partiers had trashed the place.
There was so much space in the house - we were all very comfortable! He really makes an effort to keep it clean, which we appreciated. Enjoyed having kitchen and living space to spend time in before going out, and we all loved starting our mornings in the sun, sitting by the pool (too cold to swim, unfortunately!)
The neighborhood is great! It's far enough away from the quarter that you aren't disturbed by the noise. We were able to walk down to the quarter within 45 minutes, and we loved taking in the sights on the way.
Some great restaurants in the area - definitely have to check out Elizabeth's and The Joint if you stay here!

Really nice place to stay, thanks!

  • If you want a comfortable home that can easily sleep 5 or more people *and* is great for relaxing, this is the spot. Yes, the house is low-frills but who wants to hang out in the house all day when you are in NOLA? Get out there and enjoy the city! Also, Bill was very transparent about the rules and procedures but it's not off-putting; it actually helps! Combined with the fact that he's easy to communicate with if you have any questions, it makes for a very enjoyable stay. The neighborhood is great. You have to eat at Elizabeth's and must swing by the new wine bar around the corner. Thanks, Bill!

  • It is a nice old authentic house. The neighborhood is nice. The interior is simple but fine. If you want to walk to the French Quarter it will take up to 45 minutes. If you go by cab it costs around 12-14 dollars.

  • What an amazing stay! Bill was great to work with and while it may seem like there are a lot of rules, don't let that scare you away! If you are responsible, this place is for you! The cost is incredible, the location is the best and the house itself was just perfect. Very cool, VERY New Orleans and totally functional! Has everything you might need for a wonderful stay! Highly highly recommend!

  • We had a fantastic time staying in Bill's house. Our group was in town for a friend's wedding and two couples had to bring their young infants, so we needed a space where the adults could hang out and a separate space for the babies and the babysitter. This house more than fit our needs - and we were able to chill by the pool during nap time! My husband loved the "sports bar" across the street and we ate at three restaurants in the neighborhood which were all fantastic (I'm still thinking about that brunch at Elizabeth's). Yes, it's no frills, so if you are looking for luxury accommodations you may want to look elsewhere, but for us it was perfect. And after years of staying in the quarter or garden district, the bywater was a new and refreshing change in scenery. We would love to stay again in the future!

  • We stayed here for a bachelor party and it slept 10 of us comfortably! We loved the rustic feel and the authenticity of the neighborhood. One of the best BBQ spots I have ate at is located directly across the street and the cab rides into the French quarter are 10 minutes.
Bill is extremely detailed(which is very helpful) so understand that staying here means following the instructions and respecting the rules.
If you are a decent and down to earth group that respects property and follows directions well-this place is perfect.
