Still centrally located, we have re-purposed the studio and it has become the 2nd bedroom of a 950 sft 2 br attached bungalow with full kitchen, large covered lanai, bbq, hot tub, espresso maker, and all the comforts for your vacation in paradise.

The Space

Attached 2br bungalow north of Kapaa town, close to all amenities, centrally located with home set way back off. You are surrounded by bouganvilla, hibiscus, gingers, and myriad fruits in season....a true Kauai experience. Especially sweet if you have been here before in the touristy areas and are ready for something more genuine.(and beautiful). The location makes the whole island easily accessible for day trips, and also has many great hikes/beaches/waterfalls/attractions and restaurants close by. Free off street parking for 1 vehicle.
This property includes the 1br apt with an additional 250 sft bedroom suite accessed from the covered lanai.

Full kitchen, shower and toilet, 2 lavatories and large garden lanai with private hot tub!
The property is a quick jaunt to the local beach or some of the most glorious and celebrated beaches in the world, in a neighborhood north of Kapaa, but private, with views toward Mt. Waiealale, Mt. Kawaikini, and Sleeping giant. Avocado, banana, coconut, starfruit, plumeria, hibiscus, gardenia, white ginger, lilikoi, mango, papaya, java plum trees on property. Paradise on a budget.
This is not in the touristy areas of Princeville or Poipu, but in a real great neighborhood giving you the true Kauai feel, in a clean comfortable accomodation with a glorious outside lifestyle.

Guest Access

Lanai, hot tub, washer and dryer etc...

The Neighborhood

I love the East Side! Of course North shore is spectacular, but as a place to reside, and or visit, I now find that this is the best of all worlds...
We now have a 10mi rt bike/walking path along the coast that is unparalleled for seeing whales and dolphins, and just enjoying the great views. Also, close to some great restaurants, live music spots, and the famous Kapaa art walk. Because you are roughly equidistant to both the north and south shores you can make either into an easy day trip...a big plus when visiting for less than 10 days..to say nothing of our spectacular hikes (nounou, powerhouse trail, Kuilau ridge trail etc) and beaches (donkey beach is our "local") nearby.

Other Things to Note

We have Bikes to use on the path by request, also boogie boards, snorkling equipment, beach towels, etc for your enjoyment.
Hot tub cleaning fee of $25 is included in cleaning fee...if you don't wish to use it please let us know in advance and this will be reimbursed on check out.

  • This home is in a perfect location - we went north, we went south, it was all extremely easy and very close to the restaurants and grocery store that stay open the latest on the island (in Kapa'a). The residence itself is in a beautiful garden-like setting. The kitchen was perfect as was the lanai with a long clothes line for drying all of our wet suits and gear. It's hard to stress enough that the lanai hottub was the IDEAL way to end a long tough day of hiking!

We were greeted by Dave, the caretaker, who gave great recommendations for activities and left us fresh fruit at the door and tons of towels which were very useful. If you are reserving for many people, we found the space to be great for two couples in the two separate bedrooms. The only little note, as other people have found, is that if you are using both bedrooms and someone else is in the main home, the door doesn't block any noise from the rest of the house so you might be up when the rest of the residents are! This only happened to us the first night, and the rest were blissfully quiet. If you only book for two, this shouldn't be an issue.

We would definitely love to come back and stay again!

  • First of all Kauai is an amazing place with beautiful scenery, friendly people, and lots to do. The only other way to outmatch what Kauai has to offer is have Rob as your host.

My wife and I stayed at Rob's place for 1 week and we couldn't ask for more. Rob was extremely helpful even before we made it to Kauai. He takes initiatives to help his guests by providing a few simple things that even resorts don't typically offer:

-- Recommendations for daily adventures & dining with maps, directions, etc.
-- Avocados, bananas, and other fresh fruits straight from his garden
-- Hassle free check-in and out

We will definitely return to Rob's in the future and would highly recommend his service.

  • We had a pretty good time for 4 weeks in the remodeled studio. We enjoyed especially the hot tub (under the stars) and the quiet terrace,The value for money is good. We can highly recommend this place. Dafna and Rob were very nice and helpful hosts. Bettina & Herwig

  • Rob was a great host and a valuable source for Kuaui travel trips. My wife and I hope to return one day.

  • The location is a short drive from grocery or restaurants, and close to the main road that goes around the island. Rob is very friendly and gives great advices for day-trips!

The apartment itself is very basic, good for short stays and best for a solo traveler. Few inconveniences:
    1) the bathroom is outside in a separate room (toilet+shower), but the only sink is inside the room, the one of the kitchen.
    2) while the access is private, the apt is attached to the main house and separated by a door - not very private since you hear everything.
    3) the terrace is not directly accessible from the apt (not visible from the pictures), and it's shared with the owner (and in front of their kitchen/lounge, so once again not very private).

  • My sister and I stayed at Rob's studio for a week this past week in December. He made us feel very welcome and he was really helpful with information about the island the dos and don'ts :) We had a great time. We did have friends in the area which was really handy. The location was perfect. It was close to town and to the beach :) Overall it was a great little spot to stay perfect for one or two people.

  • Rob's studio is conveniently located in Kapaa, which makes trips to the North coast and the Southwest about equidistant (1-2h drive to the furthest extents of the ring-road, including Kokee). It is small, basic but well-suited and comfortable for a person or two traveling on a budget and spending a lot of their time exploring the wonderful island of Kauai. During my visit, cooking was not possible, as the outdoor kitchen and patio/backyard were being refurbished and unavailable, but I was out and about mostly anyway. A private shower/toilet unit is nearby in a separate part of the house, and a flashlight is useful during the dark hours. Rob was a very friendly and accommodating host and very easy to communicate with.

  • Robert's place is nice and safe, a private room in the back of his house. You have your own entrance and Robert is a very nice host.

  • Robert's studio in Kapaa is perfectly located close to downtown, within 20 minutes of the Airport, 30 minutes to the north and south shores and a little over an hour and a half to Waimea Canyon. He was a very warm host, leaving wine and fresh fruit for us as well as guide books to help us get the most of our stay. The patio deck is even larger than the photos look, with gorgeous views of the mountains. I would definitely stay there again.

  • Rob was a great host. Very communicative, friendly. He made sure to make u feel welcome. He even left fresh fruit and wine for us. How nice! His place is located in Kapa'a which is a great location. We didn't end up staying the whole time with Rob because we got the Wanderlust bug and wanted to explore more of the island. Everything was great, the only thing that I didn't expect is that the bathroom isn't connected to the room, but it is in Hawaii, so going outside in the middle of the night isn't that bad, its still warm!
