The Space

This beautiful apartment in the heart of 17th century Amsterdam looks onto the canal called Brouwersgracht: The flat is only a 5 minutes walk to the central station and in the most beautiful and quiet neighborhood called Jordaan.

Shops and entertainment and many attractions are within walking distance (check my guidebook with plenty of recommendations). Anne Frank house, the famous flower market, Dam Square and palace, EYE film museum, the habor and other places are within close reach (walking distance). The Haarlemmerstraat behind our block of houses has been selected the best shopping street by the people of Amsterdam. Likewise was the Brouwersgracht (canal) chosen most beautiful place in town.

The house with the apartment available to you is a monument with a splendid facade. It lies in the romantic neighborhood called Jordaan. The area, Grachtengordel or canal area, has be accepted as a world heritage site.

It is a quiet, bright and clean apartment (60 m2 two rooms and grand bath room with separate toilet). The apartment has it’s own entrance (second level). Entering the apartment a L-shaped living room with a kitchen area is reached. From the living room’s three windows you have a splendid view of the canal; Brouwersgracht. Towards the back is the sleeping room, which has grand doors opening onto the balcony. A generous bath with bathtub and shower is entered from the sleeping room. A separate toilet lies between the living and sleeping room. The staircase leading up to the apartment is generous for Amsterdam standards. There is now lift to get to the apartment on the second floor.

The apartment is perfectly suitable for one person or a couple but sleeps up to three (two in the queen size bed and one on the couch / bed in the living room). Wireless internet, CD, mp3, radio and no TV. Kitchen ware, bedding and towels will be supplied. We are flexible about your check in and check out times but please discuss with us via email up front if you like to arrive before noon or leave after noon.

Sander and I will be around and in touch during your stay but we do not live in the same apartment/house with you. You will have the apartment to yourself. We have a second home in Amsterdam just behind Central Station across the water Ij.

If you have more questions be in touch, Sabine and Sander

PS: We also speak German and obviously also Dutch

Guest Access

You will be able to cook in the flat and do your laundry but also around the corner you can have your laundry done. Likewise there are many cafes and restaurants to eat or take-away if you do not like to cook. There is Wifi and radio, CD, mp and currently Internet TV. There is bedding and towels for you. If you need anything else you just need to let us know.

Interaction with Guests

We will not stay with you in the same flat or house. We try to be in touch via phone, email, what's up or spontaneously call. It is really also up to our guests to tell us what they like and need. We are happy to help and also do things together but at the same time do not want to invade on our guests privacy and time.

The Neighborhood

You will be on a beautiful quite canal and will still find all needed just within a few minutes walk. Behind the house is a very nice shopping street. The canal and shopping street are loved by the people of Amsterdam. You will love it too.

Getting around

You will be right next to all transportations needed and the city center, sights.

  • Ahhhhhhh Sabine!!! thank you thank you thank you ... the flat .. perfect .. the hospitality perfect ... Sabine is the kindest lady, she even dropped some sugar off for us .. so kind! If we hadn't left so early i would have given you a hug! We WILL be back and we WILL stay there again ...

It was like walking into a home from home, warm, perfectly situated and oh just awesome! We loved the stay in Jordaan, everything we needed to know she went through with us on our arrival ...

The area is safe, awesome and markets and shops and everything is around us. Directions to and from the station was very clear! The apartment has everything you need. Sunny warm and stunning views on both sides, back and front.
We were both very sad to leave.

  • Such a cosy and charming apartment, very close to the centre - and with a nice view over the canal with boats coming and going all the time.
    We really enjoyed staying there!

  • Our stay at Sabine and Sander's was perfect! We were warmly welcomed by Sander, and Sabine had left everything in the flat to make our stay convenient: guidebooks, advice, maps...! The location of the flat is the best we could have had: central, quiet, directly on a nice canal, close by from bakeries, concept stores etc. The appartement itself is very comfortable. Thank you again to both of you!

  • Perfect location and a wonderful flat. I've stayed in Amsterdam about 6 times in the last 18 months and this was by far the best place I stayed.

  • What a precious time and place. Plenty of room even for myself and two adult "kids". All the things people have said are all so true. What hasn't been said is that Sabine has an exquisite and humorous sense of interior design. Simple, colorful, romantic and silly.
Excellent location for easy access in and out of the city via Central Station.
    Quiet street and building.
Sander was easily available for quick questions that kept randomly popping up.

  • What a wonderful place - clean, centrally located, with amazing views and beautiful rooms. Sabine is very friendly and had snacks laid out for us when we arrived. She also provided guidance on what to do and where to go. The real sell is the room. Large bedroom, beautiful bathroom and wonderful living room overlooking the canal. Loved it!

Hello, we like to share the beautiful things in life; our flats. And we like traveling and travelers. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions. Since we have two houses we can make one available at times. We do that at an ad hoc base rather than as a standard. Sabine being German lives already for more than 12 years in the heart of Amsterdam, which is truly beautiful area and a world heritage site - a fairy tell. Sander is Dutch and was born in Amsterdam with some time abroad in Africa as a child. Sabine has been living in London, Israel and the US for periods of her life. Furthermore, Sander loves sport. That is kick boxing, golfing, kite surfing and pool billard. Sabine is into dancing. Both us enjoy art and we tend to travel to art exhibitions. Then we like the mountains and climbed some famous ones e.g. mount Kinabalu in Borneo but also did the Tour de Mont Blanc (the picture you see). We love traveling. Due to her work Sabine gets to see Japan and the USA a lot. The two of us have recently been to China and Malasia for more than 4 weeks. We love Amsterdam for it's diversity, surprises and beauty. It is small and cosmopolitan and has a lot of events and culture to offer. And it is only 30 minutes to the sea.
