The space

Our very comfortable house in Bomarzo (connected to internet), small and quiet medieval village, fits 4 people.
It has a small terrace and ,at 300 meters walk, out of the medieval Borgo, stands our beautiful, quiet and large garden of 2000 m2.
The house was entirely recently redone by an architect.
A public free parking is at the entry of the village.
From there you can go to swim in wonderful lakes (Bolsena, Vico) or enjoy hot springs the all year. There is also a large variety of walks in the countryside.
Nearest seaside is 70 km (Tarquinia);
Bomarzo is idealy situated in the north of Latium, at the border of Tuscany, and Umbria, giving the opportunity to visit the main art towns of central Italy, even by train.
You can leave the car, even overnite, without paying, at the local train station attigliano , 6 km away: Rome (80 km), Spoleto (45), Orvieto (40), Perugia (90), Assisi (90).
It was an historical fief of the Orsini family, whose castle is at the edge of the village . But Bomarzo's chief claim to fame is a garden usually referred to as the Bosco Sacro (Sacred Grove) or, locally, Bosco dei Mostri (Monsters' Grove).
Our garden overlooks the church of Orsini Sacro Bosco and a splendid panorama of hills covered by olive and nut trees, At walking distance you will find amazing sights on archeologicals and caves of Etruscans, the original people of the region.

House sleeps 4.
two upstairs on the mezzanine with 2 good single beds that you can add if you need, and a queen size bed in the master bedroom.
No need to bring your labtop or linen. Everything is there.
You can have your meals on the small terrace.
In our garden with a splendid view, you will find chairs, tables and chaises longues. Ideal for pique-nique, sunbathing, and for children to play..
The village is very quiet the all year. It becomes a bit more lively in august when few shows and sometimes dinners are organised on the small piazza in front of the church.
It is like to be in an italian movie.
House available all year.

Guest access

Interaction with guests

I will be in contact through internet because I am not living in Bomarzo but in Paris. Two neighbors, Maria-Rosa and Piero, living round the corner, will take care of the guests, from arrival to departure.

The neighborhood

The village is on top of a hill and the cars cannot enter into the heart of the place where is the house. Still you can drop off your luggage very near.
Near the parking there is a public lift.

Getting around

The nearest train station is at Attigliano, 6 kms away from Bomarzo.
But from there no Bus. You can arrange with Piero to be picked up.
From Attigliano station, you can reach Rome in 55 minutes, or go to Florence or others towns.
Alternatively Orte Station, 15 km from Bomarzo, has a bus station.
One bus is travelling to Bomarzo 4 times a day

My parents stayed here and had a lovely time. The apartment was as described; very interesting and quirky and the hosts were excellent communicators. Thanks very much for making my parents' first airbnb experience so positive.

As many previous visitors have commented - this is like living in an Italian movie. But it's happening for real. The apartment is compact and located in the old city center. This is a place where you actually say hello to each person on the alley and nobody speaks any word English. And there's a lot of cats and pigeons. The place is very different and totally cut out from the rest of the world: WiFi works excellently, but there's no phone connection in the apartment. This was exactly what I needed to get away from work stress! There are minor drawbacks with this place: the bed is not very comfortable and the small terrace was rather occupied by pigeons. You do need a car to get here, and there are very steep stairs to climb to get to the apartment itself. The village has not much of services itself, but it does not matter if you have a car. We visited the Parco Monstri (or whatever it was called) - an interesting 2h tour. The natural park 5 km away was not that exciting. Our recommendations would be to visit Orvieto and Orte, both rather nice. Unfortunately, we could not figure out what to do with the garbage so we had to leave it in the apartment.

Response from Cyril And Béatrice:
You are perfectly right Katri about the bed. It has too be changed and we are planning to do it this June . About garbage , no problem. Maria Rosa takes care of it if one does not understand the recycling system which is not so easy: everyday, you put outside something different. And about the steps, it is part of the beauty of .the place: old, uneven, hilly. There is there a poetic of the stones. I hope you enjoyed it.
