Plenty To Do and See Nearby
Positioned in the north east of Sardinia between Castelsardo and Santa Teresa di Gallura in the Gulf of Asinara, the property is in a private and exclusive coastal village covering 100 hectares. You may wish to visit Isola Rossa (Red Island), La Maddalena Archipelago, S. Teresa di Gallura, Alghero, Costa Smeralda, Castelsardo or Orgosolo.
As well as the private onsite spa for the village guests, nearby there is a Natural Hot Spring Spa open to the public offering further treatments such as mud baths, massages and more. Horse Riding, Diving, Surfing, Boat Excursions, Sailing and an Aqua Park are all activities which can be found in the local area, and gastronomic tourism can also be arranged for those who wish to sample the best of Sardinian and Italian cuisine.
Closest towns include Trinita’ d’Agultu, Santa Teresa, Castelsardo, Aglientu and Badesi. Monte Pulchiana offers interesting sights such as the largest granite monolith in Sardinia, and there are plenty of charming Stazzi di Gallura - ancient Sardinian dwellings – to be enjoyed. Be sure to visit Valle della Luna (Moon Valley) - a natural landscape featuring beautiful valleys and bays with large granite rocks sculpted by the mistral winds into some of the most fantastic shapes, including one in the form of an elephant!
We enjoyed the overall facilities on offer and the accommodation of the apartment. Has pots and pans, though you'll bring your own washing up liquid/cleaning requirements, salt and pepper!
We have to say that the bed was a little soft for our needs and didn't sleep too well.
Great dusk views from the balcony.
Easy parking and brief walk down to the two pools.
Being out of season was great as it was pretty quiet, although the pools aren't heated so the water for our 20mnth was a little chilly. Their beach facility is ok, though there are better beaches.
Travel to Calarossa during daylight as I'm sure you would miss it at night. Isola Rossa is a nice local town with two beaches and restaurants. The pizzeria on site was good.
I'm sure you could squeeze two couples into this space but it might be tight.
There is a TV but only local channels, so bring your own laptop for films, sound.
If renting a car, make sure you have a credit card for deposit!
We rented a house in Calarossa for 16 nights for 2 adults and 4 kids. We had a great time in Sardinia. A small problem in the beginning with the cards giving access to the pool caused us some unwanted stress but Segun was proative in finding a solution in a couple of days. The housekeeper was also very friendly, he met us at a restaurant nearby to help us find the place, and when the air conditionning was not functionning on Saturday, he found someone to fix it on Sunday. Concerning arrival and departure, we found nice arrangements convenient for everyone. Basically, Segun and the housekeeper were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The house we had is really nice, one of the two bedrooms being actually very large thus our four kids could sleep in there and no one had to sleep in the living room. Only small note : there is no dish washer (no big deal, but was in the description).
The terrasse is really big, with a beautiful view on the sea, we admired the sun setting most of the times from there.
Concerning the village, the house we had was at the far end, which suited us very well (much less touristic, our neighbours were all Italians and very friendly) as we could reach the center of the village on 5 minutes when we wanted but still be out of the rush most of the time.
About the sea, it is actually a bit far away (at least 15 minutes walk), but there is a free shuttle every half hour that is really convenient. The sea is typical Sardinian : clear and transparent water, fishes, some rocks on which the kids loved to climb.... We visited a few beautiful beaches also nearby + spend a day in the archipellaggio de la Maddalena and visited Castelsardo, all great experiences.
The swimming pools were quite big, one with animations, the other much calmer, everything was perfect.
We did not try the village animation or mini club for kids, they looked fairly "normal", it's just that we prefer spending time as a family.
The small shop in the village does not have a lot of choice, se were happy to have our car to go to the villages nearby. Similarly, the two restaurants (one pizzeria and one buffet) are good but the choice is definitely limited if you eat there everyday.
The only point that was a bit annoying is the wifi connection which is really very poor. It just works at the reception of the village, and very seldom (we probably tried 10 days out of 16 and succeeded only twice, when it was desperatly slow).
Basically, we had a great time, beautiful weather, comfortable house, nice pools and beaches for scuba diving or farniente... and highly recommend this location.
