Nice apartment of 50 mq, with kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, guest room (passing), attic with roof window and balcony entrance.
This is the country house of my family, we live in Florence and we have on site a trusted person for cleaning, check in and out. However, we are always available on the mobile phone.
We are inside the medieval village of Roccastrada - 480 Mt above sea level - which has an enviable position, it is a balcony overlooking the territory of Siena and Grosseto towards the sea and Mount Amiata.
From the bedroom you look out over the landscape of Maremma and in the distance you can see the coast of Castiglione della Pescaia and Follonica (on a clear day the Argentario peninsula and the island of Elba); from the kitchen you look towards the fortified town.
The house is functional and in winter heated by gas heater and wood burning stove, that make warm and welcoming the home environment; it is an apartment furnished in a simple way and maintains a character of hospitality and local tradition, oriented to the rustic style.
From the room, as from the skylight of the attic, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset in the evening light on the landscape of Maremma.
The road which leads to the house is essentially a exclusive walkway and ends in a space you can say private, enjoyable in mild seasons (spring / summer) available with deck-chairs and a small table.
The locality is quiet and relaxing and the house is at south of the country, so you can enjoy the nearby services.
We are in the Alta Maremma: the area is rich in nature, countryside, woods and mushrooms, rivers and fishing, there are many attractions for lovers of hiking, trekking, river fishing, sea sports, the horse. In particular, for lovers of cycling there are many paths in the green.
Nearby: Siena, Petriolo (baths), Massa Marittima, San Galgano, Castiglione delle Pescaia, Montalcino, Monte Amiata, etc.
We recommend having the car, otherwise the country can be reached by bus (line RAMA), the railway station is 9 km far from the village.

We in enjoyed our Roccrastrada 7 day stay in Simona's apartment. As it is a bit more rustic than a city apartment, it felt more like a family country cottage. Simona lives in Florence but was available to us by phone or by (website hidden) when wifi was available. The wifi signal was strongest in the hallway. Through her neighbor, also called Simona, we were made to feel very much at home. While Roccastrada is not very close to the more popular tourist oriented Hill towns of Tuscany, it is centrally located for auto day trips to those areas. We also discovered several beautiful non- tourist oriented hill towns nearby. We appreciated Simona's hospitality and recommend her Airbnb apartment.
We spent three perfect days in this pretty house and had exactly the stay we dreamed of. Simona's mother welcomed us very nicely, and gave us anything we needed including precious pieces of advice concerning the best beaches near by.
After 4 days discovering the beautiful cities of Pisa and Firenze, running from a cathedral to another , we were glad to reach the gorgious landscapes of the Grossetto's region, far from tourists and near the sea. The village of Roccastrada is a quiet place, peaceful, pretty, and near many places to visit ( Sienna, San Gimigniano, Montereggioni, island of Elsbe, Massa Maritima..and obviously the sea! ) You can have a good typic meal in one of the few sweet restaurants or go to the supermarket and cook at home. We felt really happy, enjoying a real Tuscany's experience. Great memories!
We didn't meet Simona but she responded to emails and text messages very quickly, speaks good English and was very friendly. The friends who let us into the apartment didn't speak English but were friendly and helpful. The apartment is un-renovated, in a nice old building. The main bedroom is large, with lovely views. There was plenty of clean linen to make up our own beds. The kitchen is small but homely, and has a lovely wood stove which was good on cold nights (as well as a modern gas stove). The bathroom is very narrow with old appliances and a rather awkward shower, but clean and with plenty of hot water. The second bedroom was also the passage way to the bathroom and loft, and shared with the washing machine and cleaning cupboard. Not ideal for a couple and we ended up sleeping on the sofa bed in the loft instead. The loft has a low ceiling so you can't stand in there, but it was a good space for sleeping.
Roccostrada is not a tourist town, but the old town is lovely, and there is a good restaurant Its convenient for visiting Sienna and the surrounding countryside.
