COZY DOUBLE/SINGLE ROOM PARQUE RODO

House - Private room · Edil Hugo Prato, Montevideo, Montevideo, Uruguay

The Space

If you are looking for a place that combines the charm of the old city with safety and convenience then this may be your place.

Our house, from 1901, is a fully renovated oasis in one of nicest neighborhoods in Montevideo.

During the renovation we tried to maintain as many of the original details while sculpting a modern space.
The result is a very unique home that offers more than a place to stay. We provide very spacious, comfortable, and clean bedrooms.
All our rooms have a desk, refrigerator, microwave, TV, and WiFi access.

Our rooms face out to a Spanish style courtyard with a small pool for hot days use, outdoor Asado (barbeque), and places for resting and dining. During the renovation we also discovered a hidden cellar, which had not been used since 1910.

We converted this subterranean treasure into an intimate entertainment and performance space with a screening area for which we salvaged cinema benches from one of Montevideos´s oldest cinemas.

We show films in this space and it is also where our artist friends sometimes come to perform and present their work. We can make arrangements for you to use this space were you to wish for it. We also offer other services for a nominal fee such as breakfast, laundry, and a well-stocked mini-bar.

Outside of the house you will find a charming neighborhood that is a far cry from the high-rise neighborhoods surrounding some of the beaches here.

We are an eclectic, slightly Bohemian neighborhood with tree-lined streets and small architectural gems in unexpected places. Within close proximity to the house we have a supermarket, several bars and clubs, and restaurants where you can eat local foods with the friendly locals at local prices.

Beyond the close proximity of our neighborhood you’ll find quick access to Parque Rodó and its amusement park, which is right next to Playa Ramirez.

Many of our guests enjoy exploring Montevideo by foot from our house, but if that is not an option we are close to some of the main public transportation arteries in town. A short bus ride will take you to the Old City (Ciudad Vieja) or to Pocitos.

We are looking forward to opening our gates to you, and to show you an architects dream in a city that prides itself on treating its guests as family.

  • Ingrid was away while we stayed at this great property but Marco who actually owns the house was always available.
A great property renovated by Marco who is an architect.
Very clean and in a safe area made a big difference. Marco was enthusiastic and very helpful.
Marco has a basement which he has turned into a jazz venue and every Wednesday night has friends in for a session--we were fortunate to be staying on a Wednesday when this happened-great night and music.
I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable, safe, clean property to stay at.

  • I had a very pleasant stay here. The room was charming and comfortable, the bed was very comfortable and firm. The place is very interesting and quite beautifully restored. I never met Ingrid, as she was traveling at the time, but Marcos was a charming, delightful, perfect host. He speaks fluent English and is only so eagar to help his guests get to know the city and neighborhood. He offers many good suggestions on what to see and where to eat around the nbhd. and the city. The location is superb--close to the The Rambla(street along the waterfront) and bus stops. It's easy to get to any part of town. In addition, Marcos also hosts a Jazz night most Wednesdays.

The only downside is the neighbor's dog, which oftentimes barks incessantly during the afternoons, but then barking dogs seem to be a commom nuisance in this city for some reason. At least this dog didn't bark at night. I look forward to staying here again.

  • We didn't meet Ingrid, but Marcos was an amazing host!!! He gave us advice on where to go, drove us to a soccer match, and gave us a tour of his home. The house is beautiful and so cool. The basement bar/band space is epic. Our room was comfortable and the shower was super hot. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would stay there again!

  • Our room was clean and comfortable. It opened into a charming interior courtyard. We liked the location in an older residential area midway between downtown and the newer residential areas. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. There were a number of restaurants within a short walk. Nearby Parque Rodo was nice and there was a nearby sandy beach. We enjoyed the 4 nights we spent there. It was a good base for exploring Montevideo.

  • It was a pleasure staying in Ingrid and Marco´s lovely house. The neighborhood and location are perfect, and they were extremely accommodating. Marco even gave us a ride to the bus station which was very nice. I definitely recommend staying with them, and would love to stay there again. I loved this place!

  • I've spend two days with Marcos in his lovely guesthouse.
Just perfect, nothing could have been better than this place.

I agree to all the other positive comments for this location. Next time I'll try to make reservation earlier as the place gets really bussy.

and special thanks to Marcos whos turns out to be verry special host.

  • I stayed at this beautiful place two times during my trip in Uruguay , and for sure I can say that this is the best place !
Nice and quiet , close to everything that you want to see when you visit momtevideo. Unfortunately Ingrid was not there but Marcos is more than enough always ready to help , to show things, to explain.
The house and the owners are the best ad that Montevideo can have.
I m sure that we are going to see each other again .

    Thank you again.
    Highly recommended
