The space

Our cozy 3 bedroom, 2 bath post-and-beam house is located between Copake and Ancram, 2 hours north of New York City, close to both the Berkshires and Hudson. It is available for daily and weekly rentals, depending on the season. Sleeps 6 to 8.

The house is set on 7 acres of totally private, secluded land, off a picturesque dirt road and surrounded by woods, open lawn, and field. The view is stunning, the deck is huge, and the house is filled with books, toys, and games. Wildlife is everywhere--birds, turkeys, deer, possum, beaver and the sounds of owls and coyotes under the incredible stars at night. There are swings, a hammock, bikes and a treehouse/playhouse with a zip line on the property for the wee ones. It’s near all activities (hiking, skiing, tennis, golf, lake swimming, antiques shopping), cultural destinations (restaurants, theaters, educational events), and noteworthy towns (Hudson, Hillsdale, Millerton, Pine Plains, Great Barrington/Berkshires).

The house has a large open kitchen with Viking range and fridge for people who love to cook. The adjacent dining area has double-height ceilings and adjoins the open living room with wood stove for cozy fires. There is one queen bedroom downstairs, one queen bed upstairs, and one room with three single beds (which has room for sleeping bags or air mattresses on the floor if you want to pack in visiting kids like we do).

The house has hi-speed wifi, an overhead projector with a large pull-down screen for movie viewing (there is a selection of DVDs or you can stream Netflix and AppleTV movies on it). There is a washer and dryer in the basement for laundry.

Please check back on availability often, as we usually do not know a long time in advance when the property is available for rent. Or feel free to contact me and ask about availability.

Thanks!

We loves Tim's place! It was the perfect place to escape for a quiet weekend away. The house was well equipped, clean, and in a great location - not a long drive from Great Barrington. We would definitely stay again!

We stayed Tim's place for 6 nights. It is a great getaway, but close to a lot of interesting activities if you do your research. The house is very interesting as it is full of activities for kids and adults. The location feels remote, in a good way, but in 15 minutes you can drive to activities in all directions like Hudson, Bish Bash Falls, Omi Art Center, Millerton, Amelia, Rail Trails, etc....Beautiful views are everywhere. If you are a cyclist then this area is truly amazing with the contrast of rolling pastures and the Taconic Mountains to climb. Tim was very informative and everything was very smooth. My family is already talking about returning.

Had a delightful time in scenic new york country side. The projector screen was a nice touch when we weren't following the helpful guides to the cool local spots or relaxing with friends on the deck! Lovely house and we intend to visit again.

Wonderful space for country retreat - beautiful and private surroundings - as noted by others, it's hard to leave the back deck even to go exploring. beds were comfortable and kitchen well-stocked - many books and imaginative toys. we'd return in a heartbeat

This is a fantastic house—secluded, idyllic, wonderfully stocked. It has everything you'd need for a great weekend away—great kitchen, lots of sleeping space, and a fantastic yard. Couldn't have been happier.

This beautiful home had everything we needed for a family getaway. The living room was perfect for curling up with a book, and I don't think I'd every get tired of sitting on the back porch. My 3-year old loved running around in the yard and reading all the picture books. A thoughtful list of recommended activities and restaurants meant I didn't have to do any research on my own. This may have been the laziest vacation of my life - exactly what I was looking for!

Absolutely gorgeous little house set on a lovely, secluded bit of land in the Berkshires. We had an incredible time, despite the rain. Our favorite part was definitely the kitchen -- comes stocked with anything you could need to cook with! It is indeed a cozy retreat, we all hope to be back some day.
