Classic seaside accommodation with a funky retro twist! Surf Side 6 offers relaxed, casual accommodation in a comfortable, 2 bedroom, self-contained bungalow in the heart of Sydney's beautiful Northern Beaches.
The retro-inspired decor of Surf Side 6 evokes fond memories of holidaying in an era past but with all the modern day conveniences. Enjoy breakfast or a twilight drink and barbeque on the deck with glimpses of Curl Curl Beach and Lagoon.
Conveniently located between Dee Why, with its fine-dining precinct and surfing beach to the north (just an energetic 15 minute walk which allows you to enjoy a drink or two with dinner and avoid the "booze bus"!) and the family-friendly beach and village appeal of Freshwater to the south. Famous Manly Beach is only a short car/bus ride away and Warringah Mall shopping centre, with cinemas, is close by.
The bungalow is equipped with a new gas log fireplace, reverse-cycle air conditioning and ceiling fans in the lounge-dining area. The two spacious bedrooms have comfortable king size beds that easily convert into 2 singles if required, wardrobe space and ceiling fans. Portable cot and high chair can be provided if required. There is also a safe for your use.
There is a modern bathroom with bath and shower, washing machine and ironing facilities. Separate toilet. Bath and beach towels, bed linen, hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and soap provided.
The fully functional kitchen comes with electric oven and cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and an amazing wall-sized glass splashback featuring a stunning photograph looking through a wave at a local beach. For your convenience upon arrival there will be various basic food items provided so you can relax with a cuppa!
Grab a coffee and a bite to eat at one of the many great cafes or restaurants in the area where you might even rub shoulders with a TV celebrity local! Picturesque Palm Beach is only a 30 minute drive away where famous Aussie soap "Home and Away" is filmed.
If fitness is your thing, then Surf Side 6 is the place for you! Our street has been dubbed "Heart Break Hill" by the locals who frequently cycle or sprint here. However if you like life at a slightly slower pace, then the many varied coastal walks in the area might fit the bill, perhaps followed by a picnic on the beach.
Buses leave regularly from the bottom of our street (both sides of Griffin Rd) and can take you to Manly Wharf, Warringah Mall, Sydney's CBD, etc. Timetables are available online. Most buses operate on pre-paid tickets which can be purchased from various outlets in the district.
Peak Period - During peak period of November through to February (inclusive) there is a minimum stay requirement of 7 nights - $2,100AUD.
The owners of Surf Side 6 live upstairs on the premises in their own private accommodation with separate entrance and are more than happy to offer suggestions and information on activities and day trips to help make your stay a memorable one.
There are also two friendly Siamese cats, Ruby and Jasper, on the premises.
Access to Bungalow is keyless entry and you will be provided with a 4 digit code upon arrival. Please contact me when you're on your way here and I will meet you downstairs to show you around.
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to offer suggestions on places of interest in the area, etc, when asked but we respect our guests' privacy. The bungalow is at the front of our property so we have to walk past it when we go out but we try to be as unobtrusive as possible.
We have lived in North Curl Curl for around 33 years and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. The feeling is very relaxed, with people making the most of the close proximity to the beach. After a swim or a walk there are plenty of great cafes to grab a bite to eat. People are friendly and hospitable.
Other Things to Note
From November through to February inclusive we have a 7 night minimum stay requirement.
Unfortunately we do not allow guests to bring their pets. We have 2 cats on the property who would not be too happy with other animals!
Please enjoy your stay at Surf Side 6. North Curl Curl is a unique part of the Northern Beaches with a close knit community. Our neighbours are great and their comfort is important to us so it would be much appreciated if you could ensure that our premises are not treated like a party house and that you show your thoughtfulness with respect to excessive noise especially between the hours of 10pm and 8am. Number of guests should not exceed 4 adults and no more than 8 people in the bungalow at one time.
Standard Check In Time is 2.00pm and Check Out is 10.00am to allow time to prepare property for next guests, however, changes to these times are negotiable in advance with the owners.
Damage, breakages, theft and loss are the guests' responsibility during their stay. The owners take no responsibility for the guests' personal property. However a safe is provided for your valuables.
For safety purposes smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property.
Please ensure doors and windows are locked and that air conditioning, fans, gas fireplace and all appliances are turned off before leaving the property.
surf side was well appointed, well located and spotless. Lindall was a great host. we loved the location and would stay again.
I stayed at Curl Curl with my little sister on the evening before her wedding and she stayed the next night with her new husband! We both agreed that it was the perfect place for us to stay. Light and spacious and airy with beautiful furnishings throughout.
Lyndall was lovely and met us at the front door to show us around the two bedroom apartment. She lives upstairs so is nearby if anything goes awry (not that it did). The apartment has everything you might need, from little bottles of shampoo and body wash to individual packets of laundry powder, milk, bananas and bread with condiments for breakfast! She even left a wedding card and bottle of bubbly for my sister and her new husband.
The views and sound of the ocean are gorgeous as well and perfect for sending you to sleep.
Excellent, great communication we had everything we needed.
Surf Side 6 is exceptional. 2 days of constant rain during our stay had no effect on our experience because of how homely & comfortable the property is - even with a 4 year old in toe we were more than happy to spend time relaxing in the lounge room and cooking in the spacious kitchen.
Lyndall & Chris thought of everything to keep us entertained. Just the small things that make you feel so welcome - like putting out a few children's books on our arrival, and stocking the fridge with a few essentials - and Easter eggs!
The only negative was that we didn't stay for long enough... we would be thrilled to go back and recommend this 'holiday home' to anyone looking for a relaxed stay - long or short - with the most remarkable views of the beaches below. It's a really special place that has obviously been presented with lots of love & care. Thanks for an awesome Easter break Chris & Lyndall... we hope to see you again soon.
Chris and Lyndall were perfect hosts. Not intrusive but always there if needed. The apartment is very well equipped and very comfortable. Both bedrooms are a really good size and the terrace unbeatable! We loved the Northern Beaches and Curl Curl in particular. Hopefully we will return and stay agin at Surfside 6.
We had a fantastic stay at Surf Side 6. The apartment is beautiful, with fabulous views from the deck down to the ocean. Bright, open living areas and quiet, peaceful bedrooms. The location was perfect for us, being in a quiet location towards the top of the hill, but with the beach and North Curl Curl rock pool a short walk away, cafés and a bottle shop at the bottom of the hill and the restaurants and bars of Dee Wye just a pleasant coastal stroll away. Manly and the ferry to Sydney is an easy bus ride away if you want to ditch the car for a night out.
We stay in self catering places frequently and this was the best equipped place we have ever stayed in with everything you could possibly need to stay a week, a month or a year. Lyndall and Chris were wonderful hosts, even inviting us to join them for Christmas lunch. Our only regret was having to leave after just a week. We hope to be back.
We spent four weeks at Surfside 6 with our 9 months old daughter and had a wonderful time there. The apartment is really beautiful with a great deck overlooking Curl Curl. Beaches and cafes are close by but the place is still away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was very clean and decorated with a lot of attention to detail. The kitchen is fully equipped and even a high chair and a safetygate etc. was provided for our little one. But it were especially the little things that made the difference just as finding some fresh fruit and a cold beer in the fridge after 30 hours of travel. Lyndall and Chris are perfect and caring hosts with great recommendations for anything you might be looking for in the area. They helped in every possible way to make our stay easy and comfortable without being intrusive at all. It was a home (far) away from home and we would definitely stay there again when in Sydney.
About the Host, Lyndall
Living on the Northern Beaches of Sydney is wonderful because we have access to so many great beaches, parks, coastal walks, restaurants, cafes and more.
The decision to become AIRBNB hosts has been an extremely positive one. We've met so many great people of all ages and nationalities who obviously enjoy travelling and prefer accommodation with a "home away from home" atmosphere which is what we've tried to create at our bungalow.
I'm into hiking and can highly recommend the coastal and bush walks in our area. My husband Chris is an active member of South Curl Curl Surf Life Saving Club, doing patrols and competing in surf boat racing. In 2013 we travelled to Nepal to hike to Mt Everest Base Camp with friends which was a fantastic challenge and I have also climbed Mt Kinabalu in Borneo. We have 3 grown up children, three delightful grandsons and a beautiful granddaughter who keep us busy!
We also like to lend our support to various charities including Petrea King's Quest for Life Foundation and Father Chris Riley's Youth Off the Streets.
Summer is obviously special in this part of the world especially if you're into water sports but any season is great if you're keen on cycling, bush walking, checking out the great bars and restaurants, shopping, or just lazing around. We have recently installed a beautiful gas log fire so cold weather is no problem. Whatever you're into we would be more than happy to point you in the right direction to make your stay a memorable one.
