The Exchange Building, completed in 1910 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, was refitted in 1996 to house 202 attractive efficiencies, one and two bedroom apartments, penthouses, and handicap equipped units. While the building has undergone a series of renovations, every effort has been made to preserve its historic features, such as the original mosaic tiles, an early-1900’s era Tennessee marble staircase, the elaborate plasterwork, and the granite surfaces. The towering marble ceilings of the lobby exude the elegance of downtown living.

Located in the heart of the Downtown Neighborhood – near the nightlife, restaurants, and shopping – our apartments are the ideal home base for exploring the city. Living in a 19-story skyscraper allows a breathtaking view of the Mississippi River. Walk outside and explore the rich, dense neighborhood. Fine dining is offered within blocks at renowned restaurants such as Rendezvous!, The Majestic Grille, or Flights. Enjoy a pint at the neighborhood Irish pub, The Brass Door, or make the three-minute drive to Beale Street and relish in its famous bars such as Silky O’Sullivans, Alfred’s, or Bardog Tavern. You could also take the trolley to Beale St, to the Pyramid, or around the downtown area, since there is a trolley stop a block away.

The apartments provide a homey feel with a luxurious touch and high-quality amenities. Several of the units located on the higher floors provide our residents a spectacular view. Units come with a kitchen, fully equipped with refrigerator, microwave, oven/stove, pots/pans, and dishes. The Management office on the first floor is ready to assist you during business hours, and, as many of my residents already know, I am always just a phone call away. A laundry room with coin-operated machines and a gym on the top floor are easily accessible through the three elevators. Note that this unit is unfurnished, allowing us to offer a much lower price. Airbeds can be provided if you request them ahead of time. Take advantage of the large living room that makes your stay at the Exchange Building Apartments much better than a hotel or a campsite.

There are public metered spots all around the building. Since parking is not always available, we provide parking passes for a nearby parking garage (1 block away) at the price of $10/day. Note that these prices are non-negotiable since the garage is operated by a separate business.

Situated at an unbeatable location with competitive pricing, our apartments are a click away from becoming your future home or weekend getaway. Let yourself be inspired by the view and invigorated by the bustling and lively neighborhood. Rest up in our comfortable abodes and make sure to spend enough time exploring the giant playground that is the City of Memphis. Come home and enjoy the many amenities, such as the laundry room and the gym, and the luxurious construction and styling of The Exchange Building Apartments. • Very happy to have stayed at this great location! Although unfurnished, we only stayed for one night so it fit our needs. We were not in the apartment often, so did not really mind! The location is unbeatable! Can walk to sun studios, charlie's rendezvous ribs, peabody hotel, and beale street. We had a convenient parking spot as well. Sardor was extremely friendly and accommodating. The view from the apartment was also breath-taking! I loved Memphis and would love to visit again and stay at the same location.

  • It was very efficient and the room was just what I needed.

  • We had a great stay in this apartment in downtown Memphis. Very handy walk to Beale St, civil rights museum, sun studio. Also enjoyed the laundry available and the gym upstairs overlooking the Mississippi. The apartment was all that we needed with a bed, couch and air bed for 3 of us. Memphis wasn't really
happening mid week and it made us miss Nashville a lot.
A perfect stop to be near downtown and leave the car parked for a few days.

  • Staying here was so nice that I'm probably going to end up making excuses to go to Memphis now. The Exchange building is a real slice of Memphis history -- it's the second oldest building in the city (1910) and an excellent place for a long weekend (quick walk from Redbirds' stadium or FedEx Forum, and a medium stumble from Beale) or extended stay (walking distance from any downtown business concerns). The staff is so friendly and helpful, and extra airbeds and linens are always available on request. It's a residential building where they airbnb out vacant/unfurnished apartments, so you will likely end up making friends with the people who live there too. No wifi, but a great coffee/beer bar is a couple short blocks south at Second/Gayoso.

  • Though I never actually met Sardor, the doorman and the kind lady who showed us to our room were both very friendly and hospitable. The room was perfect for our short stay in Memphis and I definitely recommend to others looking to spend less money on accommodation.

    Thanks Sardor!

  • Room was as it states just an empty apartment but was all we were after for the price and the location. Have a car but didn't need to use it as everywhere we wanted to see of Memphis' rich history was within walking distance. Everyone that lives in the building was friendly and said hello.

  • Exactly as advertised – completely fine unfurnished apartment.(But air mattress with linens in bedroom). Make sure you have flip flops or something to walk around in – carpet especially in living room was kind of gross (e.g., looked like someone may have puked and it wasn't cleaned up very well). But bottom line - worth the price if you’re on a budget and not planning to spend much time in the apt. People in the building were very nice and check in/out was super easy.

  • This apartment is exactly as described in the overview - it is unfurnished and quite basic but clean and in a great location. The air bed was comfortable and linen was provided. We had camping equipment with us so had enough utensils to make use of the kitchen as well. The building is a few minutes walk from Beale St and felt very safe.

  • It was a great place to stay and very clean. Great view. Perfect location. We walked to Beale Street. Sardor was great to help us with whatever we needed. Everyone in the building was super friendly.

  • Granted, I knew this was an unfurnished apartment to begin with, but once me and my girlfriend walked in, it kinda gave us the creeps.
Given we didn't think we could sleep very well there, we got another place. What was unsettling was the only lock on the door could be unlocked from the outside. There was no lock that could only be unlocked from the inside. If anyone had a copy of the key, they could walk right in. If it was me and my guy friends, we probably would've stayed, but I feel the ladies might be a bit uncomfortable.

I was born in Uzbekistan and raised in Memphis. I'm the middle child, with 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters -- and recently a 4 time uncle! I've been fortunate to travel the world in my early years and learned a lot about the different cultures around the world. I enjoy learning about geopolitical history, architecture, and technological advancements that benefit the myriad societies around the globe. To me, Memphis is an exciting city that competes with the great cities of the world as a worthwhile stop for play and leisure. Allow me to host you in my apartments, located in the historic Exchange Building in downtown Memphis.
