The Space

Aloha!

I'm so happy you are planning on visiting Kailua-Kona! This area has so much to offer! My home is located about one mile South of the Kailua-Kona village area, and 8 miles from the airport. We are 2 miles from the famous "Iron Man" finish line! This location is fabulous and really everything is a very 'doable" from here with out long drives. A day trip heading to the north is about 40-80 miles depending on your route, Volcano National Park is 90 miles South. To the east-side, (Hilo) it is a 2 hour drive.

If this is your first time to this magical island, do not be dismayed when you land on a huge barren lava field, I promise the majority of the island is lush and gorgeous! If you have a week or so here and IF the lava is flowing and you want to see it at night, you may want to stay one night on the other side the island, and enjoy sight seeing in that area heading back to Kona the following day. MOST of my guests prefer the Kona side and 97% of things you want to see and do are accessible from here with in an hours drive.

My complex has 2 pools, 2 hot tubs and is well maintained and nicely landscaped. The Dolphin Room is a smaller bedroom with a double bed, in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath ground floor condo. It is very clean, and bright. The room is painted white, with many tasteful pieces of Dolphin art, hard wood flooring, and has blue accent colors. There are ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room. There is a small fridge in the closet. You will share a bathroom with me, (and any of my personnel guests, which is seldom) and "we" keep it very clean. There may not be room for extra towels and toiletries in the bathroom so they need to come in and out with you, hair styling needs to be in your room as well. There is a great mirror! Also, I keep a few things under that bed and rarely need access, but would always ask first when I do. I have a relatively large patio with a gas grill and it is quite private. You have limited kitchen access for light meal preparation. I am very easy to talk with and I have all that one usually needs, like beach mats, coolers, boogie boards, beach towels, etc. There is beach access about 3 minutes away walking. Swim beach is 2 miles away. The limited bus sevice stops right in front of my complex too.
You would be a temporary 'roommate'. Usually it would just be you and who ever is in the master bedroom, (and that is typically a single person), and myself, but occasionally I will have a friend over or staying with me, and I have been known to sleep on the couch in that case! I am up late at night usually and up early in the morning, so this does not seem to create any problem.
I am metaphysical in nature, love being around like minded people. My passions are dancing, swimming with the wild Dolphins and cooking. Not a lot of "rules" here except to clean up well after yourself so the tiny ants don't come for a feeding, be considerate and no cigarette or cigar smoking please close to my place. (vapor cigarettes are fine) I have a washer/dryer and we line dry when possible. You can use the dryer if absolutely necessary. Power is very expensive here, so be aware please, fans off while away and lights off please.

I'm happy to point you in the "right" direction for affordable grocery shopping, points of interest and places to eat and dance! I have no TV! I do have WiFi. Please use headphones when possible. The patio is shared with guests.

There is a 50.00 security fee, which is refundable if there is no damage. Airbnb will return the security deposit to you unless I notify them with in 48 hours of damage.

I look forward to sharing "Aloha" with you.

  • Cecily was a fantastic host! While the room doesn't have air conditioning, the fans in the room provide more than ample air flow to keep the room very palatable. Cecily was very understanding with kitchen use and allowed me to make meals and store them in the refrigerator in my room. The location was excellent to area activities and main roads for quick explorations of other parts of the island. I was relocating to the island for work and Cecily helped me feel very welcome by giving island-specific recommendations and helping me understand Hawaiian culture. Thank you Cecily!

  • Cecily was such a great host. She gave all sorts of recommendations on what to do and eat on the island. On my final day I was able to swim with dolphins as she told us when and where to go. Thanks Cecily!

  • Really enjoyed our time in Kona staying with Cecily. The room was well looked after, there were some treats left in the fridge for us on arrival, and we were made to feel very welcome. Cecily was happy to help us with a few things whilst we were staying with her, including our sun burn, and laundry. I would gladly stay with Cecily again!

  • Great location! Just outside of Kona as to avoid all of the noise, yet close enough to be everywhere I planned within minutes. The house was spotless, exactly as you see it in the photos. The hot tub access was exactly what I needed after running my first 5k. My girlfriend decided to join me on this trip last minute, and Cecily was able and willing to accommodate no problem. This was my first airbnb experience and I'm not sure how it could've been any better!

  • Cecily is one of the world best host's,if possible I would give her 7 stars. She has such a beautiful personality with an open heart and mind I love her ;-).The Delphinroom is exactly like the describtion, super clean, with your own litte fridge and a great bed. Cecily gave me a warm welcome with a fresh Lei and a lot of fruits, water and other snacks that gives you a great start on the island. She did everything to let you feel you are at home and is any time happy to give you some information about special places on the Island. On some evenings she took me to her favorite danceplace and for a drumconcert,we had such fun and gave me very special memories of Big Island.I highly recommended her and if I come back I defently will stay there again. Thank you so much Cecily for this great time!!

  • DO NOT be skeptical while reading Cecily's profile. It sounds and looks too perfect to be true...
BUT believe me - both Cecily herself and her place go beyond listing's description ! :)
We had A WONDERFUL time at her place, which indeed has a perfect location and superior cleanness. Being welcomed with ice-cold water, lei and homemade goodies only confirmed this is the best choice on Big Island to stay !!
Cecily is a great, great host !
    Thank you !!

  • Cecily is a fabulous Host. She is warm & welcoming and opens her home with the trust one confers onto mature responsible adults freely. Cecily offered lots of information on local attractions. As one of her great zests for life includes dancing, info on her favourite music/dance locations added to the fun. Her home is comfortable, clean and the pool and spa are just a couple of minutes walk from her door within the Condo set-up.

As stated in the Description the Dolphin Room at Cecily's is in a perfect location @ Kailua Kona on the Big Island, Hawaii. (15-17 minutes drive to/from the airport) It is well set up for the climate with an overhead fan and decent sized small fridge in your room - fantastic. Unless you're particularly athletic - like to walk a lot or cycle you will need a car. You need a car to get to see many of the wonderful and varied vistas that the Big Island has to offer. It'd not called the Big Island for nothing.

I highly recommend staying with Cecily she is a beautiful person inside and out. She went to great efforts as a host and I really appreciated all her help and guidance.

The only thing to be aware of is that there is a bit of noise in the outside area from time to time. It wasn't a big deal for me but is may be for some.

The Big Island has much variety to offer a visitor and Cecily's is a great base to stay and get out exploring for yourself. As Cecily herself will tell you the guide book 'Big Island Revealed' is an informative resource. It's fine to read it once you get there; take it with you when you go for an adventure day. It's a great read as you go here and there with a good dose of humor too.

About
I am a fun, loving, happy hearted, conscience lady who likes to have fun! I am "dancing along to the songs of my soul" which is why I live in Kailua-Kona! This is the most amazing island. Such a variety of things to do and see. It is more laid back with less traffic than any other island, and has more to offer, (except big department stores, for that kind of shopping you want Honolulu)! My passion is cooking and entertaining, enjoying a passion fruit margarita on the patio with you or friends, dancing to the great local bands who performing just 1 mile down the road at great ocean side restaurants and bars, I love swimming with the wild Dolphins, and.... of course, going to my favorite beaches for sunning, playing in the waves and snorkeling. I am easy to talk to, please just ask if you need anything! I am known to have it! I am eager to give you my guidance to great places to eat, site see, the best farmers markets, fabulous Kona coffee, nightly entertainment and how to get to Costco! :) Welcome to my humble sweet home.
