Every nook and cranny of this joint has been spruced up and is anticipating your arrival. This apartment is only used through airbnb meaning it is staged so you feel like you live in it and have every cozy thing you will need like a hotel but so much better...There is an all equipped kitchen and an incredibly comfy queen bed in the albeit small cozy bedroom. The bedroom has a sliding door, closet, and the bed built into the corner. There is also a couch in the living area that has a bed inside of it for extra guests. There are heated floors so that your feet are warm in the winter time. A ton of great books to curl up and read and a patio outside of your french doors and private entrance from the street. There is also a driveway in front of the apartment which is yours to use or not. This abode was made to feel rustic so much of the wood is unfinished. If you prefer brand new construction with a rustic finish this is the place for you.
Location! Location! Location! We are in an awesome location! Not near the Alberta district but IN it yet we are a couple of blocks away which means our street is quiet. We are a stone's throw from so many great bars and restaurants. This could be a vacation of all walking or you could hop on one of the many public transit options a few blocks away. Or you could rent bikes on Alberta St. This neighborhood is so fun and filled with cute and unique small businesses, shops and establishments yet it is also peaceful. The farmer's market is exactly three blocks down the street and takes place each Sunday. Last Thursday is a festival once a month on Alberta St. We are also walkable/bikeable to other neighborhoods in the NE like the Williams Corridor and Mississippi St.
Our abode is like a retreat in a very fun city! We are here as your hosts to help create the best stay possible but it is likely we may never see you as your apartment is completely private from our home. The space is a garden level so it is underneath our house but has french doors and a big window overlooking your own outside space. This space gets great light and truly feels like a cabin. Even though we took great measures in sound proofing you still will hear us pittering and pattering upstairs, our dog barking at the mailman, or our washer/dryer when it is on. You will have a sound machine in your bedroom in case you are a sensitive sleeper and the above might disturb you. We will also leave you an extensive homegrown list of the best spots in town and will only be a text away! The feeling of the apartment is truly unique and quite an experience. We look forward to creating the best nest for your Portland adventure.
Other Things to Note
Self Check In - Please keep your confirmation email as it has the instructions for Self Check In. Confirmation Email is sent upon making reservation.
Be decent and enjoy yourself. Smoke outside only. Please be respectful with the knowledge that this is a neighborhood. With this we ask to not entertain other in the abode. If you have family members or a special friend that lives in town that is fine, however please no parties and no noise past 10pm. Thanks!
This was such a cute place! My friends and I had the best time! It was cozy but we still had space. It was walking distance to Alberta street where we spent most of our time! Great neighborhood and Penelope made sure that we had everything that we needed! We all agreed that we would come back! :)
Very cozy and magical place. Highly recommend. Alberta area has great eateries and quick access to downtown. Hosts were very kind, prompt, and helpful.
Penelope's place was just as described - well kept and clean, with a good atmosphere. Her husband and she were also great hosts. When we were being too loud they let us know what they needed from us in a very respectful and polite manner! The instructions for check in and check out were very clear and concise. All in all a great experience.
Thanks Lj we enjoyed having you for the night and thought you were most respectful once we checked in with you. I want to clarify so future guests know we cannot usually hear our guests at all when they are in the abode. We have had babies and kids... Lj had some friends over which made it so there were 6 guys in the abode. We like to leave our guests to complete privacy yet we felt the neighbors might hear them as well so we requested they lower the volume at around 11pm. This was a good experience as it showed us that the abode is best as nest spot and not as an entertaining spot for guests' friends. We appreciated how you all respected our request.
Penelope's artist abode was the perfect cozy cocoon for my daughter and my 1st visit to Portland, Penelope has made the perfect getaway space with the most comfy bed, and whimsical vintage touches everywhere..
Self check in was so easy, Penelope was the perfect blend of warm and welcoming and giving us our privacy and space, she even left us 2 umbrellas which we ditched in favor of the "Portland hoodie" so we didn't stick out like tourists in this very local and charming neighborhood.
Penelope's handy suggestion of great local restaurants and Portland must sees gave us a great place to start our daily adventures. The only thing we could pissibly complain about was thinking we should have stayed LONGER
My husband and I just wish we could have stayed longer! - we had a very quick trip to the abode, just an overnight, but it was warm, comfortable and welcoming. The space has all one could need for an extended stay as well. We loved the decor, comfy bed and the kitchen with snacks and everything we could have needed to cook. Highly recommend and hope to be back!
Penelope greeted us with a welcoming smile when we arrived at her comfortable garden apartment. The space itself is clean, well decorated, and surprisingly bright. We spent a lot of time getting cozy on the plush couch and planning our day at the kitchen table. It was a nice place to come home to after a long day of walking around the beautiful Alberta district. Great space, great location, great host!
This little ground-level apartment is very convenient, comfortable, and clean. It's just a few blocks from Alberta and all its attractions. We didn't really cook, but having a kitchen with refrigerator, sink, and utensils was great. Self check-in was flexible and easy. We didn't meet Penelope, but she us left some snacks. The lights were good for reading, and we slept well in the super-comfortable bed with its awesome pillows.

I am a professional organizer and co-active coach. My husband owns his own electrical contracting company. We moved to Portland from San Francisco years ago to plant some roots and my how they have grown! We have remodeled two homes and our current home has been featured in the home decor blog Apartment Therapy. I love creating a magical and enchanted space for others to enjoy and refuel in..
Nathan and I use airbnb when we travel as it feels as if you are a local and less removed from the adventure at hand. I love leaving a list of our favorite spots here in Portland and enjoy playing host. We hope to make sure you adore this sweet little town as much as we do!
