Every nook and cranny of this joint has been spruced up and is anticipating your arrival. This apartment is only used through airbnb meaning it is staged so you feel like you live in it and have every cozy thing you will need like a hotel but so much better...There is an all equipped kitchen and an incredibly comfy queen bed in the albeit small cozy bedroom. The bedroom has a sliding door, closet, and the bed built into the corner. There is also an Ethan Allen couch in the living area that has a bed inside of it for extra guests. There are heated floors so that your feet are warm in the winter time. A ton of great books to curl up and read and a patio outside of your french doors and private entrance from the street. There is also a driveway in front of the apartment which is yours to use or not. This abode was made to feel rustic so much of the wood is unfinished. If you prefer brand new construction with a rustic finish this is the place for you.
Location! Location! Location! We are in an awesome location! Not near the Alberta district but IN it yet we are a couple of blocks away which means our street is quiet. We are a stone's throw from so many great bars and restaurants. This could be a vacation of all walking or you could hop on one of the many public transit options a few blocks away. Or you could rent bikes on Alberta St. This neighborhood is so fun and filled with cute and unique small businesses, shops and establishments yet it is also peaceful. The farmer's market is exactly three blocks down the street and takes place each Sunday. Last Thursday is a festival once a month on Alberta St. We are also walkable/bikeable to other neighborhoods in the NE like the Williams Corridor and Mississippi St.
Our abode is like a retreat in a very fun city! We are here as your hosts to help create the best stay possible but it is likely we may never see you as your apartment is completely private from our home. The space is a garden level so it is underneath our house but has french doors and a big window overlooking your own outside space. This space gets great light and truly feels like a cabin. Even though we took great measures in sound proofing you still will hear us pittering and pattering upstairs, our dog barking at the mailman, or our washer/dryer when it is on. You will have a sound machine in your bedroom in case you are a sensitive sleeper and the above might disturb you. We will also leave you an extensive homegrown list of the best spots in town and will only be a text away! The feeling of the apartment is truly unique and quite an experience. We look forward to creating the best nest for your Portland adventure.
Gracious hosts! A cozy place in which three of us stayed (using the double bed in the bedroom and the fold out couch), and it was perfectly adequate space wise. The location is fabulous! Two blocks to Alberta Arts district with great places to eat, drink coffee, enjoy night life, shops. Strolling the neighborhood is a treat. Easy drives all around Portland. Couldn't be better located for a quiet stay in a great neighborhood with easy access to downtown and getting out of the city. We were very pleased. Plenty of fluffy towels, comfy linens, even snack treats. And when the weather turned super hot, Penelope sent me an email with tricks to keep the place cool, and dropped off a big fan. Very sweet. Also, you can park your car in the driveway, very convenient.
Great spot in a great neighborhood of Portland, you can't beat a 2 block walk to Alberta St! As a native Oregonian who has been in LA for 7 years it's nice to have a place to stay that's in a neighborhood my friends actually live in, not some overpriced hotel downtown. Penelope's spot was warm and cozy and had everything we needed, including pour over coffee!
We had a great stay at penelope's apartment. It was"last thursday" on Alberta Street which was great fun and even though we were very near, there was no noise or fallout from the crowds. The location is great and the accommodation even greater.
Penelope was responsive, kind, and non-invasive. We met briefly but it was clear to me that she likes to give a lot of space to her guests so that this little abode feels private. The space looks just like the photos. I was marveling at the intricate details and fun and eccentric art and use of color and pattern. Very well cared for and clean. This space is perfect for a couple. The bedroom is super cozy and the bed and pillows are comfy and nice. A couple blocks from the Alberta district, my favorite area in Portland.
This place has a really distinctive style! I recommend it to anyone wanting to absorb the Portland vibe. A great neighbourhood, walkable to Alberta. Very clean and very comfortable (my daughter loved the cozy bed). Light, spacious and private. Most of all, great to look around and be in...one where you can't wait to hurry back and hang out in the BnB! Would definitely book again and highly recommend.
Great place! We loved staying here... It was so cozy.
We had a lovely stay at Penelope Miller's basement apartment. It was clean, quiet and had fun decor. The amenities were perfect. The location is perfect for us, also. Easy access to the 405 for Portland Thorns matches at Providence Park and our daughter lives about 8 blocks away--couldn't be better for our purposes.
The abode was a perfect home for Sean and I during our honeymoon roadtrip. We loved everything about this place from the decor to the comfy bed. We especially liked the awesome tape and book collection, which fit our taste perfectly. We really liked the neighbourhood and would highly recommend eating at The Tin Shed. We would definitely stay here again and think everyone else should too.
We stayed two nights at Penelope's wonderful apartment! It was very clean and comfy! The neighborhood was great! Unfortunately we met Penelope only for a small talk at the end of our stay! I hope, we will come back again!
Though I didn't meet Penelope, she was very communicative and friendly via messaging. I made the mistake of trying to correlate her description of the property with what turned out to be an outdated (website hidden) Street View photo, and she was very helpful. The place itself is great--very cozy and comfortable and quiet. I stayed two nights while my own hardwood floors were being refinished a couple miles away, and this place fit the bill perfectly. Highly recommended.
Note: This abode is a converted basement, so the ceilings are relatively low. I'm 6'3" tall and had enough headroom, but if you're super tall, you might have to duck.
