About this listing
Every nook and cranny of this joint has been spruced up and is anticipating your arrival. This apartment is only used through airbnb meaning it is staged so you feel like you live in it and have every cozy thing you will need like a hotel but so much better...There is an all equipped kitchen and an incredibly comfy queen bed in the albeit small cozy bedroom. The bedroom has a sliding door, closet, and the bed built into the corner. There is also a couch in the living area that has a bed inside of it for extra guests. There are heated floors so that your feet are warm in the winter time. A ton of great books to curl up and read and a patio outside of your french doors and private entrance from the street. There is also a driveway in front of the apartment which is yours to use or not. This abode was made to feel rustic so much of the wood is unfinished. If you prefer brand new construction with a rustic finish this is the place for you.
Location! Location! Location! We are in an awesome location! Not near the Alberta district but IN it yet we are a couple of blocks away which means our street is quiet. We are a stone's throw from so many great bars and restaurants. This could be a vacation of all walking or you could hop on one of the many public transit options a few blocks away. Or you could rent bikes on Alberta St. This neighborhood is so fun and filled with cute and unique small businesses, shops and establishments yet it is also peaceful. The farmer's market is exactly three blocks down the street and takes place each Sunday. Last Thursday is a festival once a month on Alberta St. We are also walkable/bikeable to other neighborhoods in the NE like the Williams Corridor and Mississippi St.
Our abode is like a retreat in a very fun city! We are here as your hosts to help create the best stay possible but it is likely we may never see you as your apartment is completely private from our home. The space is a garden level so it is underneath our house but has french doors and a big window overlooking your own outside space. This space gets great light and truly feels like a cabin. Even though we took great measures in sound proofing you still will hear us pittering and pattering upstairs, our dog barking at the mailman, or our washer/dryer when it is on. You will have a sound machine in your bedroom in case you are a sensitive sleeper and the above might disturb you. We will also leave you an extensive homegrown list of the best spots in town and will only be a text away! The feeling of the apartment is truly unique and quite an experience. We look forward to creating the best nest for your Portland adventure.

This was the last night of a 9-day vacation to Seattle, Victoria and Vancouver and we wanted to enjoy our finale in Portlandia. This Alberta Arts Abode is exactly as pictured with artsy and retro decor. Easy access with a security code provides totally privacy from the main residence complete with a short driveway/off-street parking.
We were welcomed with a bottle of wine complete with artsy wine glasses and a warm welcome note. We enjoyed playing cassettes with fun music from our past...amazingly the cassette player still works great! Penelope also provided a list of nearby restaurants and stores in Alberta all within blocks of the Arts Abode. We love local neighborhoods and had dinner nearby. The location is also near downtown, which we decided to check out later that evening.
The bed was super comfortable. Cozy comforter and soft pillows.
I would totally recommend this Authentic Alberta Arts Abode.
Thank you Penelope! Hope to be in Portlandia again sometime soon and stay there again.
Staying at the Miller's Authentic Alberta Arts Abode was an integral part of a fantastic visit to Portland. Penelope's is a caring and considerate host and her listing provides a wholly accurate description of the abode and of the surrounding area.
The weather was very good when we visited so we were able to use the abode as a launch pad for cycling around Portland and along the Columbia and Willamette rivers. If the weather was less good I could imagine hunkering down in the abode and reading one of the many books that Penelope has left in the Abode.
This is a fantastic find! The location is walking distance to a very central area of Alberta Arts District. The home is perfect for 2, decorated for a real "home" experience and for my boyfriend who's first AirBnB experience this was, he said "this is a great first AirBnB experience!" We loved it and will book it again, and suggest to friends.
We felt very at home. The place is very cozy and located in the perfect spot!
Fabulous! The abode is perfectly located and was clean, cozy, and just as pictured. Penelope had a new portable A/C unit that worked great for us even on a 90+ degree day.
Penelope had bottle of wine waiting for us and wifely totally welcome. The location of the abode is perfect. It's just a couple of blocks off of Alberta and totally walkable. We didn't have a car during our stay in Portland, so location was important for us. We will stay again if we ever find ourselves in the area.
This was a delightful small apartment that was just right for me. I enjoyed the space and my time there.
The Millers were terrific hosts who were sincerely concerned about making my stay as good as it was. Very responsive and welcoming, and respectful of privacy. Their flat is very comfortable and well decorated. Neighborhood was great--loads of restaurants and cafes in walking distance.
I will be be back!

About the Host, Penelope
I am a professional organizer and co-active coach. My husband owns his own electrical contracting company. We moved to Portland from San Francisco years ago to plant some roots and my how they have grown! We have remodeled two homes and our current home has been featured in the home decor blog Apartment Therapy. I love creating a magical and enchanted space for others to enjoy and refuel in..
Nathan and I use airbnb when we travel as it feels as if you are a local and less removed from the adventure at hand. I love leaving a list of our favorite spots here in Portland and enjoy playing host. We hope to make sure you adore this sweet little town as much as we do!
