About This Listing
Every nook and cranny of this joint has been spruced up and is anticipating your arrival. This apartment is only used through airbnb meaning it is staged so you feel like you live in it and have every cozy thing you will need like a hotel but so much better...There is an all equipped kitchen and an incredibly comfy queen bed in the albeit small cozy bedroom. The bedroom has a sliding door, closet, and the bed built into the corner. There is also a couch in the living area that has a bed inside of it for extra guests. There are heated floors so that your feet are warm in the winter time. A ton of great books to curl up and read and a patio outside of your french doors and private entrance from the street. There is also a driveway in front of the apartment which is yours to use or not. This abode was made to feel rustic so much of the wood is unfinished. If you prefer brand new construction with a rustic finish this is the place for you.
Location! Location! Location! We are in an awesome location! Not near the Alberta district but IN it yet we are a couple of blocks away which means our street is quiet. We are a stone's throw from so many great bars and restaurants. This could be a vacation of all walking or you could hop on one of the many public transit options a few blocks away. Or you could rent bikes on Alberta St. This neighborhood is so fun and filled with cute and unique small businesses, shops and establishments yet it is also peaceful. The farmer's market is exactly three blocks down the street and takes place each Sunday. Last Thursday is a festival once a month on Alberta St. We are also walkable/bikeable to other neighborhoods in the NE like the Williams Corridor and Mississippi St.
Our abode is like a retreat in a very fun city! We are here as your hosts to help create the best stay possible but it is likely we may never see you as your apartment is completely private from our home. The space is a garden level so it is underneath our house but has french doors and a big window overlooking your own outside space. This space gets great light and truly feels like a cabin. Even though we took great measures in sound proofing you still will hear us pittering and pattering upstairs, our dog barking at the mailman, or our washer/dryer when it is on. You will have a sound machine in your bedroom in case you are a sensitive sleeper and the above might disturb you. We will also leave you an extensive homegrown list of the best spots in town and will only be a text away! The feeling of the apartment is truly unique and quite an experience. We look forward to creating the best nest for your Portland adventure.
Other Things to Note
Self Check In - Please keep your confirmation email as it has the instructions for Self Check In. Confirmation Email is sent upon making reservation.
Be decent and enjoy yourself. Smoke outside only. Please be respectful with the knowledge that this is a neighborhood. With this we ask to not entertain other in the abode. If you have family members or a special friend that lives in town that is fine, however please no parties and no noise past 10pm. Thanks!
This place was great! Three college girlfriends and myself shared it for two nights, and we were very comfortable. Penelope had a great list of recommended restaurants (much needed in such a foodie city!), which we reviewed each evening before dinner. The space was quirky, comfortable and clean; we all slept very well! I would recommend this to anyone- it was especially nice to have a driveway parking space instead of having to park on Portland's narrow streets!
We had a good time. The location is perfect. Personnal spot for the car. Great decoration. Very very soft bed :(
Just a detail : the place doesn ´t have a lot of natural light. And we had to find the sheet for the 3rd person who slept in the sofa and we had no clue where they were hidden ! At midnight it is not so funny.
And we never met the host eventhough she was living upstair.
There is a handbook left on the bar of the abode. Inside is information and details such as the interent password, how to use the stove and where the extra sheets are kept. I write this up for guests just in case they self check in while we are asleep. Maud self checked in at midnight and in the morning I checked in with Maud. At that point she said she had found the sheets and loved the space. I went down once to meet Maud yet she was out. I then decided to leave her and her guests to their privacy.
Excellent, quiet neighborhood within walking distance to grocery, coffee and restaurants. Easy to access with parking directly in front of the house! Everything inside was clean and inviting. The beds, both pullout and not, were comfortable and warm. We cooked in most nights and had everything we needed. Can't find a better place in this neighborhood!
I had a relaxing staycation at Penelope's listing. It's a cozy, adorable space, within walking distance of everything I love about Alberta Street. Would definitely recommend.
This was such a cute place! My friends and I had the best time! It was cozy but we still had space. It was walking distance to Alberta street where we spent most of our time! Great neighborhood and Penelope made sure that we had everything that we needed! We all agreed that we would come back! :)
Penelope's place was just as described - well kept and clean, with a good atmosphere. Her husband and she were also great hosts. When we were being too loud they let us know what they needed from us in a very respectful and polite manner! The instructions for check in and check out were very clear and concise. All in all a great experience.
Thanks Lj we enjoyed having you for the night and thought you were most respectful once we checked in with you. I want to clarify so future guests know we cannot usually hear our guests at all when they are in the abode. We have had babies and kids... Lj had some friends over which made it so there were 6 guys in the abode. We like to leave our guests to complete privacy yet we felt the neighbors might hear them as well so we requested they lower the volume at around 11pm. This was a good experience as it showed us that the abode is best as nest spot and not as an entertaining spot for guests' friends. We appreciated how you all respected our request.

About the Host, Penelope
I am a professional organizer and co-active coach. My husband owns his own electrical contracting company. We moved to Portland from San Francisco years ago to plant some roots and my how they have grown! We have remodeled two homes and our current home has been featured in the home decor blog Apartment Therapy. I love creating a magical and enchanted space for others to enjoy and refuel in..
Nathan and I use airbnb when we travel as it feels as if you are a local and less removed from the adventure at hand. I love leaving a list of our favorite spots here in Portland and enjoy playing host. We hope to make sure you adore this sweet little town as much as we do!
